Day 1

Nairobi to Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Nairobi to Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Your 2-day Ol Pejeta Conservancy safari in a 4x4 jeep begins with an early pickup from your Nairobi hotel. Drive north through the green central highlands, with Mount Kenya rising ahead on clear days. The journey takes about four hours, with a short stop near Nanyuki along the way. Here, you also cross the equator, which makes a fun photo stop. On arrival, head straight out on your first game drive across open savannah and acacia woodland. Look for elephants, buffaloes, zebras and giraffes as your guide tracks fresh signs of wildlife. At midday, check in at your lodge and enjoy a relaxed lunch. Start off by visiting Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, the only place in Kenya to see chimps. Afterwards, take a short rest before your afternoon game drive. This time, search for lions, cheetahs and black rhinos as the heat fades. Return to the lodge at dusk for a delicious dinner. Later, fall asleep to the night sounds of the African bush.

Day 2

Ol Pejeta Conservancy to Nairobi

Ol Pejeta Conservancy to Nairobi

Wake early for a hot breakfast as the sun rises over Laikipia. Then set off on a morning game drive, when animals are most active and the light is soft. Keep your camera ready for elephants, lions, rhinos and herds of antelope on the plains. Your guide may also stop near the enclosure of Najin and Fatu, the last two northern white rhinos. Meanwhile, Mount Kenya often appears clearly against the morning sky. Next, enjoy a slow game drive towards the exit gate, making the most of every sighting along the way. Before you leave, stop at the Morani Information Centre to learn about Ol Pejeta’s conservation work. After leaving Ol Pejeta, begin the scenic drive back south to Nairobi. On the way, stop for a relaxed lunch at a roadside restaurant. You may also pause to shop for souvenirs or stretch your legs. Finally, arrive in Nairobi in the late afternoon. Your driver-guide drops you at your hotel or the airport, ending your Ol Pejeta safari.
