3-Day Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale Forest

Transfer from Entebbe international airport to Kibale Forest national park

After an early morning breakfast, your guide will meet you at the hotel to brief you about the tour. You will then set off for Fort Portal, traveling through Mubende on a journey of approximately 340 km, taking about 5 to 6 hours. Along the way, there will be a few stops at convenient places for bathroom breaks or to stretch if needed. Upon arrival, check-in at the lodge and enjoy a relaxing lunch. Spend the afternoon at your leisure, unwinding and taking in the serene surroundings. Later, enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge.

Chimpanzee tracking at Kibale forest National Park and Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary

After breakfast, you will depart with a packed lunch and drinking water. Your guide will drive you to the park headquarters for registration and a briefing before the activity begins.

Following the briefing, you will be assigned to a group and accompanied by an experienced ranger guide as you head into the forest in search of chimpanzees. Along the way, you may encounter a variety of other primates and bird species. The trek can take between 2 to 5 hours, depending on the movement and location of the chimpanzees.

Once you locate them, you will spend one hour observing these fascinating primates, taking photographs, and learning about their feeding habits and social behaviors.

After the tracking experience, you will return to the lodge to refresh. Later in the afternoon, you will head out for a 2–3 hour guided nature walk in Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, known for its rich biodiversity and excellent birdlife.

You will then return to your lodge to relax and spend the evening at leisure.

Transfer back to Entebbe international airport/Kampala

After an early morning breakfast, we will set out for a village experience that includes a coffee tour, visits to local farms, an encounter with a traditional medicine man, and a demonstration of banana beer brewing. You will also have the opportunity to meet local craftswomen and engage in various other cultural activities. After this enriching experience, we will drive back to Kampala via the Kyenjojo-Mubende road, arriving in the afternoon. Depending on your day's arrangements, you will be transferred either to your lodge or directly to the airport.
