Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Your safari adventure begins in the morning with a pick-up from your hotel in Arusha and a scenic drive to Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania’s most beautiful parks known for its vast savannah, ancient baobab trees, and large elephant herds. After arriving at the park, you will begin your exciting game drive, exploring the diverse landscapes while searching for wildlife such as elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes, and many species of birds. Tarangire is especially famous for its large concentration of elephants and the Tarangire River, which attracts many animals during the dry season. You will enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park surrounded by nature before continuing the afternoon game drive. As the sun begins to set, you will leave the park and drive to the charming town of Karatu, located near the Ngorongoro highlands. Here you will check in at your lodge or campsite, relax, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the exciting day ahead.

Often referred to as the “Eighth Wonder of the World,” the crater is the largest intact volcanic caldera and is home to an incredible concentration of wildlife. As you descend 600 meters into the crater floor, you will enter a natural wildlife sanctuary where animals live year-round due to the availability of water and food. During the game drive, you may spot the Big Five—lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and the rare black rhinoceros—as well as zebras, wildebeests, hyenas, jackals, and hippos. The crater also offers spectacular scenery with grasslands, forests, and a soda lake where flamingos can often be seen. You will stop for a picnic lunch near a hippo pool before continuing to explore this wildlife paradise. In the late afternoon, you will ascend the crater walls and return to Karatu for your overnight stay.
