Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve
Home to the great migration, where each year between July and October millions of wildebeest thunder across the plains in search of fresh pasture, the Masai Mara is one of the most famous game reserves in the world. From November to June, the Masai Mara still has one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Africa. The Big Five can all be ticked off your list on a visit here. You’ll also get to see huge pods of hippos basking in the rivers, cheetahs racing across the savannah and giraffes ambling between the acacia trees.

Exploring Masai Mara National Reserve
After breakfast at the camp, your day will be spent exploring the park, searching for the “Big Five” and trailing the wildebeest migration. The Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that you can never take in everything. Over 450 species of birds have been recorded on the reserve. You will easily see lion, rhino, hippo, crocodile, giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, warthog, hyena, jackal, wild dog, leopard, many kinds of antelope and elephant.
It is in the Mara that perhaps the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place. This is the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti in search of water and pasture. Following on their heels are the predators of the savannah, including lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena and vulture. Later in the day, you will return to the lodge/camp for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 4
Exploring the Great Migration
Exploring the Great Migration
After an early breakfast, you will head out to make the most of the day. There is a chance you may see the animals crossing the Mara River. Hundreds of thousands of desperate wildebeest gather on the banks of the river, gazing wistfully across the turbulent water at the green grass on the other side, but no animal will make a move. All it takes is one brave wildebeest to take the literal plunge and, then, all follow! The animals that successfully avoid the awaiting crocodile jaws and make it over the river, are rewarded with the lush green grazing grass of the Masai Mara.
You will have dinner at the camp. Spend the night in the so-called migration campsite, strategically located close to the migration, ensuring you won’t miss a single moment of the action.

We will have breakfast at the lodge. Then, we'll drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area before descending 610 meters down to the grasslands of the crater floor, an area of about 265 square kilometers. Despite its small size, the crater is home to the Big 5, and the openness of the terrain means easy and rewarding game viewing. You will spend the day exploring the crater floor, stopping to picnic on the grasslands amidst the grazing herds.
Formed by a massive volcanic eruption, the world’s largest intact and unflooded caldera provides a year-round home to an astonishing 25,000 large mammals, including black rhino, wildebeest, and zebra. The crater’s forests shelter elephant and buffalo, and its wetlands are home to hippos and flamingos, while lions, jackals, leopards, and caracals comprise the full range of predators.
