Nairobi - Masai Mara National Reserve

Depending on your arrival, our driver-guide will pick you up directly from the airport or from your hotel in Nairobi after breakfast and take you to Masai Mara. We'll drive through the Great Rift Valley to the Masai Mara National Reserve. This extensive reserve is part of the Serengeti's vast plains, famous for the great migration of wildebeest and is home to the Big Five: lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo and rhino. You will have lunch at the camp and relax before heading out for the afternoon drive.

Mara River Stay and Game Drive

After breakfast at 6:30 am, you will leave for a full-day game drive with a packed lunch as you continue your search for great wild animals. On the plains, large herds of herbivores graze, while cheetahs and leopards hide in the tall grass. The Masai Mara is regarded as the jewel of Kenya’s wildlife viewing areas. The reserve has recorded some 95 species of mammals, amphibians and reptiles and over 400 bird species. Nowhere in Africa is wildlife more abundant, and for this reason, visitors can hardly miss seeing the Big Five: buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion, and rhino.

Great Migration Experience in Mara

In the Masai Mara, you will have an opportunity to drive down to the Mara River, the site of the great migration when in season – July through October. The immense herds of wildebeest and zebra are a magnificent sight, matched only by the drama of the predators who lie in wait for them.

At an extra cost, you can enjoy a fascinating visit to a Maasai village, where you can gain insights into the rich traditions and heritage of this ancient community. Another optional activity, at an extra cost, is a pre-dawn hot-air balloon ride high above the reserve as the morning light breaks across the golden savannah, where you can watch herds of wildlife emerge into the day.

Have an early breakfast at the camp, then depart for Nairobi with a game drive along the way. We will stop in Narok town, the Maasai city, where you can buy handicrafts and souvenirs. On arrival in Nairobi, we will drop you off at your city hotel or transfer you to the airport for final departure.
