Arusha to Lake Natron

On this day, you will start your journey from Arusha and head towards Lake Natron. You'll leave the paved road behind and drive through the breathtaking East African Rift Valley. The route will take you through Maasai villages and past the sacred Ol Doinyo Lengai mountain. As you approach the Maasai village of Ngare Sero, you’ll be just a short distance from the lake.

Lake Natron is home to around 2.5 million flamingos, which use the lake as a breeding ground. The salty water is rich with algae, giving the lake its striking red and purple hues. The surrounding area is one of Africa's most pristine and beautiful regions. After a hike to the lake, you’ll have the chance to visit nearby waterfalls, where you can relax and enjoy a refreshing swim in the cool waters.

Northern to Central Serengeti National Park

Your day begins with a morning game drive in Northern Serengeti, where you’ll witness the magnificent Great Migration. Afterward, you’ll transfer to Central Serengeti for an afternoon game drive, immersing yourself in the vibrant wildlife of this iconic area.

Later in the afternoon, enjoy another exciting game drive followed by an early evening safari. Predators, including lions, leopards (often spotted in acacia trees), and cheetahs, typically follow closely behind the migrating herds.

The migration is driven by seasonal rains. During the short rainy season (November to December), the herds move from the northern hills to the southern plains. From April to June, the herds head back north. The location of the herds may vary each year, depending on rainfall patterns.

Your adventure concludes with an overnight stay at your camp, reflecting on a day filled with unforgettable wildlife experiences.

Central Serengeti - Ngorongoro Crater to Mto wa Mbu

The journey begins with a 2-3 hour drive from Central Serengeti to the Ngorongoro Crater. Upon arrival, your game drive takes you 600 meters down into the crater, a vast natural sanctuary with a diameter of 17 to 21 kilometers. This unique ecosystem hosts nearly all the species of the East African savannah, except for giraffes and a few others, as the steep rock faces prevent them from entering.

Between 15,000 and 25,000 animals gather in the crater, including large populations of buffalo, wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles. The abundance of prey supports the highest concentration of predators in Africa, with over 100 lions living in several prides.

This area offers excellent opportunities to see the Big Five (lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard) in just a few hours. After an exciting day of wildlife viewing, we’ll ascend the crater walls and head to Mto wa Mbu Ngare Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
