The park is bordered to the west by the dramatic escarpment of the Rift Valley and to the east by the shallow, alkaline Lake Manyara. This lake, which covers a significant portion of the park, fluctuates with the seasons, and during the rainy period, it becomes home to thousands of flamingos. The name "Manyara" comes from the Maasai word "emanyara," referring to a plant traditionally used to build protective enclosures around family homesteads (bomas). The park’s diverse vegetation spans from savannah to evergreen forest. During your exploration, you may spot giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes, elephants, and, if you’re lucky, lions lounging in the trees.
