After an early breakfast, check out and depart Tsavo West for the journey eastward — crossing the iconic Man Eaters of Tsavo Bridge near the town of Voi and entering Tsavo East National Park through the Voi or Manyani Gate. The landscape opens up into vast, red-dust plains dotted with baobabs, offering a striking contrast to the lava-strewn terrain of Tsavo West.

Arrive at your lodge or tented camp in time for lunch and a short rest. In the afternoon, head out for your first game drive in Tsavo East — a park famed for its red-dusted elephants, Galana River, Lugard Falls, and the long stretch of Yatta Plateau, the world’s longest lava flow. Tsavo East National Park

Wake up to the soft sounds of the African bush and enjoy an early breakfast before setting off for a full-day game drive in Tsavo East. With its vast open plains, seasonal rivers, and scrubby savannah, the park offers prime opportunities for spotting wildlife in motion — especially in the golden morning light.

Begin by tracing the banks of the Galana River, where hippos, crocodiles, and waterbuck gather at the water’s edge. Visit Lugard Falls, a series of dramatic rapids and sculpted rocks, and continue toward Mudanda Rock, a natural viewpoint that attracts large herds of elephants to the waterholes below.

Break for a picnic lunch at a designated site or return to camp for a relaxed midday break. In the afternoon, explore new sections of the park, keeping an eye out for maneless lions, cheetahs lounging on termite mounds, and the rust-colored elephants Tsavo is known for — often seen dust-bathing in dramatic herds. Return to camp just before sunset for dinner.
