Day 2

Arusha to Tarangire National

Arusha to Tarangire National

After an early breakfast, you'll depart for a full-day game drive in Tarangire National Park, carrying a packed lunch for the day. Famous for having one of the largest concentrations of elephants in the world, Tarangire is also a haven for bird enthusiasts, especially during breeding season when plumage is at its brightest. The park teems with wildlife, especially in the dry season, when animals gather around the life-giving Tarangire River. Keep your eyes open for big cats like lions, leopards, and cheetahs, as well as rare species such as kudu, oryx, and gerenuk. You'll also spot large herds of zebras, wildebeests, and gazelles, closely followed by predators on the hunt. In the late afternoon, you’ll head to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

After breakfast, we will travel through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area on a six-hour drive to the Serengeti, along the way, we’ll make a short stop at the gate to admire the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater for about twenty minutes. By late afternoon, we’ll arrive in Central Serengeti, the heart of the Serengeti, where you’ll enjoy a picnic lunch before setting out on an exciting game drive. As evening falls, we’ll continue exploring the plains to experience the breathtaking Serengeti sunset and observe wildlife up close, with the chance to witness a thrilling predator hunt.

Today, you’ll embark on a unique game drive deep into the Western Serengeti, a less-visited yet incredibly rich part of the park famous for its dramatic wildebeest migration. This area offers a more intimate and untouched safari experience as you follow massive herds of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles moving across the plains. The Western Serengeti is known for its open landscapes and riverine forests, providing diverse habitats where you can witness thrilling predator-prey interactions away from the crowds.

We’ll begin with an early morning game drive, soaking in the raw energy of the migration as the animal's graze and prepare for their next journey. After a picnic lunch surrounded by the stunning wilderness, the adventure continues with chances to observe river crossings and the close encounters between predators and their prey. As the sun sets, you’ll return to your camp, where the sounds and sights of wildlife continue to create an unforgettable atmosphere for the night.

Today starts with an early breakfast before heading out to explore the spectacular wildebeest river crossing in the Western Serengeti, where thousands of animals brave the Grumeti River in a dramatic display of survival. After a filling breakfast, you’ll descend into this iconic UNESCO World Heritage Site, one of the Seven Wonders of Africa. Formed by a massive volcanic eruption millions of years ago, the crater stretches 260 km² (100 mi²) and plunges 610 meters (2,000 feet) deep. It is home to an incredibly dense population of wildlife—about 25,000 animals—including wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, elephants, and over 500 species of birds. With some luck, you may spot the endangered black rhino hidden among the grasses. Following an exhilarating day of game viewing in one of the world’s most unique ecosystems, you'll drive back to Arusha or Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay.
