Day 1

Transfer to murchison falls np via ziwa rhino sanctuary

Transfer to murchison falls np via ziwa rhino sanctuary

Your Uganda safari begins with an early morning hotel pickup from Kampala or Entebbe. Your private 4x4 safari vehicle heads north through the lush Ugandan countryside, passing small trading towns and banana plantations as the landscape gradually opens into savannah.

Your first major stop is Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, the only location in Uganda where you can legally track wild white rhinos on foot. After a brief safety orientation from your armed ranger guide, you venture into the bush for a close encounter with these magnificent and once locally extinct animals. Ziwa's conservation program is one of East Africa's great rewilding success stories, and your visit directly supports it. Visit the top of the famous Murchison Falls, where the Nile River squeezes through a narrow gorge in a spectacular display of power. Later, transfer to Heritage Safari Lodge for check-in, dinner, and overnight stay.

Main Destination:
Murchison Falls National Park
Best Time To Visit December to February (Easier to spot animals)
High Season June to September (Peak time for Uganda)

Day 2

Sunrise Game Drive & Nile River Boat Cruise

Sunrise Game Drive & Nile River Boat Cruise

Begin the day with an early morning game drive in Murchison Falls National Park, one of Uganda’s best wildlife-viewing destinations. Explore the savannah plains in search of lions, elephants, Rothschild giraffes, buffaloes, Uganda kob, and a variety of birdlife, including the iconic shoebill stork. The park's open grasslands and acacia woodland provide excellent visibility throughout.

Return to the lodge for a relaxed lunch and midday rest.

In the afternoon, board a motorized boat at Paraa for a 2-3 hour Nile River boat cruise towards the base of Murchison Falls. This is one of the most rewarding wildlife experiences in all of Uganda. The riverbanks host some of Africa's highest densities of Nile crocodiles and hippo pods, which are frequently seen at very close quarters from the boat. Elephants and buffaloes often wade to the water's edge to drink, while the sky fills with African fish eagles, kingfishers, and pied herons.

Transfer to Kibale National Park

After breakfast, depart Murchison Falls National Park and begin your journey south through the heartland of Uganda. The drive takes approximately 6 hours, passing through Fort Portal — Uganda's 'Tourism City' and into the tea-covered highlands near the Rwenzori Mountains, also known as the Mountains of the Moon.

Enjoy a lunch stop en route before arriving in Kibale National Park, located in western Uganda near the equator. Kibale's ancient, unbroken tropical rainforest is one of the most species-rich in East Africa, sheltering over 13 primate species, 350 bird species, and a mosaic of forest mammals rarely seen elsewhere on the continent.
Check in to Kibale Forest Camp, spend a relaxed evening listening to the sounds of the rainforest at nightfall, the perfect prelude to tomorrow's chimpanzee trek.

Best Time To Visit January to February and June to July (Chimp trekking is easiest)

Day 4

Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale National Park

Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale National Park

Kibale is home to the largest population of habituated chimpanzees in Uganda — approximately 1,500 individuals — making it one of the best places in the world to observe wild chimpanzees.

After an early breakfast, transfer to the Kanyanchu Visitor Centre for a briefing. Here you will learn about chimpanzee social behavior, forest etiquette, and conservation protocols before entering the forest in a small, ranger-guided group. Once the chimpanzees are located, spend one unforgettable hour observing them feed, groom, and interact in their natural habitat. Along the forest trails, you will also have excellent chances of encountering other Kibale primates: the beautiful black-and-white colobus monkey, red-tailed monkeys, L'Hoest's monkeys, olive baboons, and grey-cheeked mangabeys. After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation before dinner and overnight at Kibale Forest Camp.

Transfer back to kampala

Wake up to a final forest breakfast at Kibale, surrounded by birdsong and the distant calls of primates in the canopy. After checking out, your driver-guide will transfer you back to Kampala or Entebbe International Airport in time for onward flights or connections.

If time permits, a short stop can be arranged in Fort Portal town or at the Equator crossing. Your guide will make the most of the drive back, pointing out the changing landscapes from montane forest to savannah, banana plantation and the central plateau.
