Day 1

Arrival at Kigali International Airport

Welcome to Rwanda. Upon arrival, you shall be welcomed by an Otter's African Safaris guide
at Kigali International Airport, from where you will transfer to your booked accommodation for
the night. Depending on your time of arrival at the airport, you will have lunch before
transferring to your hotel in Kigali for some rest as you prepare for the Best of Rwanda
Safari experience the following day.

Day 2

Visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial Center and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial Center and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

After your early morning breakfast, you will be picked up by an Otter's African Safaris guide who
will brief you about the safari, and thereafter, you will start your safari with a Kigali City Tour.
During this city tour, you will visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, where you will learn about
the stories of the 1994 Genocide. You will also visit the local handicrafts market, and you will
learn about their way of life. Afterwards, you will transfer to Volcanoes National Park, which
is a 3-hour journey from Kigali, as you will enjoy the scenic views of the hills on your way to
Musanze. You will arrive at the lodge, have lunch and check into the lodge.

Day 3

Mountain Gorilla Trekking and Gorilla Guardians Village

Mountain Gorilla Trekking and Gorilla Guardians Village

After your morning breakfast, you will then report to the park headquarters for a briefing
about the dos and don’ts while with the gorillas. Remember to carry your packed lunch and
enough drinking water since you may stay in the forest up to afternoon in search of these
gentle giants in their natural environment. When you locate the gorillas, you are allowed to
spend one hour in the presence of the gorillas observing the gorilla troop go on with its daily life,
babies playing on tree branches, silverbacks protecting the group, and others picking vegetation
to eat. After the gorilla experience, you will return to the park’s headquarters for the awarding of
certificates. Afterwards, you will return to the lodge for relaxation.
In the afternoon, you will visit the Gorilla Guardians Village, where you will learn about the local
culture of the community through interactive demonstrations and performances. After that, you
will return to the lodge for an overnight stay and dinner.

Day 4

Golden Monkey trekking and Transfer to Nyungwe National Park

Golden Monkey trekking and Transfer to Nyungwe National Park

After your morning breakfast, you will then report to the park headquarters for a briefing
about the dos and don’ts while with the Golden monkeys. When you locate the Golden
monkeys, you are allowed to spend one hour with them. After the experience, you will return to
the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, you will transfer to Nyungwe National Park, which is a 5-hour journey from
Volcanoes National Park. You will arrive at the lodge later in the evening, where you will check in
and have dinner. Overnight stay and dinner at the lodge.

Day 5

Chimpanzee Trekking in Nyungwe National Park

Chimpanzee Trekking in Nyungwe National Park

After your early morning breakfast, you will transfer to the park headquarters of Nyungwe
Forest National Park for registration and briefing about the dos and don’ts when working with the
chimpanzees. You will then be escorted by a ranger into the forest for the search for the
chimpanzees. Once you have spotted a group of chimpanzees, you will spend 1 hour with
them and ask as many questions as you want about their behaviour. You will also have an
opportunity to spot other types of primates, such as the red-tailed monkeys, vervet monkeys,
Grey-cheeked mangabeys, among others. After this experience, you will return to the lodge
for lunch and an overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 6

Canopy Walk and Transfer to Akagera National Park

After your morning breakfast, you will proceed for a canopy walk in Nyungwe National Park,
where you will be able to see the beauty of the forest and also spot many bird species. After
the canopy walk, you will transfer back to Akagera National Park for a wildlife experience. It’s
quite a long journey, but you enjoy the views of the hills as you transfer to the park. You will
have an en-route lunch as you transfer to Akagera National Park. You will arrive at the lodge
later that evening, and you will check in at the lodge. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

After your early morning breakfast, you will head out for a morning game drive in Akagera
National Park. During the game drive, you will have an opportunity to see many animals
such as Elephants, Rhinos, buffalo, impalas, zebras, bushbucks, waterbucks, lions,
and leopards. You will be able to see many bird species, as Akagera National Park is home to
over 500 bird species. You will then return to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, you will head out for a boat cruise on Lake Ihema as you will see animals like
hippos, crocodiles and many bird species. After the boat cruise, you will return to the lodge
for dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge.

Akagera National Park before you transfer back to Kigali or Kigali International Airport. You
will have an opportunity to see more animals. After this game drive, you will check out of the
lodge and transfer back to Kigali or Kigali International Airport for your trip back home. You
will have an en route lunch on your way to Kigali.
