Upon arrival in Kigali, meet your driver-guide and begin your journey with a warm welcome to Rwanda. Depending on your arrival time, you may enjoy a short city tour, including a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial (optional for an extra cost). After lunch, set off on a scenic drive north through Rwanda’s lush countryside, known for its rolling hills and terraced farms. Arrive in Volcanoes National Park in the late afternoon. Check in to your comfortable lodge, where you can relax and enjoy dinner as you prepare for the thrilling gorilla trekking experience ahead.

Day 2

After an early breakfast, transfer to Volcanoes National Park headquarters for a trekking briefing. You may choose to go gorilla trekking (optional for an extra cost; $1500 permit not included) for a once-in-a-lifetime hour with a mountain gorilla family in Rwanda’s bamboo forests. Alternatively, enjoy a golden monkey trek (optional for an extra cost), a unique and active primate experience. After the trek, cross into Uganda via Cyanika or Katuna border and continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Check in at a comfortable lodge for dinner and overnight.

After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing before your second gorilla trekking adventure—this time in Uganda’s lush Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Trekking through the dense jungle can take several hours depending on the location of the gorilla family. Once located, enjoy one magical hour observing their behavior in the wild. After the trek, return to your lodge to relax. In the afternoon, you may take a guided community walk to interact with local Batwa communities (optional for an extra cost).

Depending on your schedule, you may opt for a brief city tour or souvenir shopping in Kigali (optional for an extra cost). Arrive in Kigali in the afternoon or evening, marking the end of your unforgettable cross-border gorilla safari adventure.
