Day 1

The journey begins at Umbwe Gate (1,630m), where you’ll start your trek through the lush rainforest of Kilimanjaro. As you ascend, the path winds through dense vegetation, offering a serene and tranquil atmosphere. This section of the trek is steep and demanding, providing a gradual introduction to the mountain’s challenges.
After approximately 5–6 hours of steady hiking, you will reach Umbwe Camp (2,850m), nestled deep in the rainforest. Here, you’ll rest for the night and begin your acclimatization process.

Day 2
Umbwe Camp to Barranco Camp

On Day 2, you leave Umbwe Camp and begin a steep ascent toward the famous Barranco Wall. This section of the trail is physically challenging, but the surrounding views are absolutely breathtaking, offering dramatic sights of the valleys below and the towering peaks above.
After reaching the top of the wall, the trail gently descends into the stunning Barranco Valley (3,950m), where you’ll arrive at Barranco Camp. This site offers incredible views of the mountain and surrounding ridges. The altitude here is excellent for acclimatization, preparing your body for the days ahead.

Day 3
Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
After a restful night at Barranco Camp, you’ll begin the day by tackling the Barranco Wall once more — a steep but short climb that rewards you with incredible views from the top. From there, the trail undulates across rocky hills, revealing wide panoramic landscapes of Kilimanjaro’s high slopes.
You’ll then descend into the Karanga Valley, a gentler section of the trek, before making one final climb up to Karanga Camp. This campsite is ideal for another night of acclimatization, and today’s shorter hiking time is designed to help your body adjust to the altitude, preparing you for the challenging days ahead.

Day 4
Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
Today involves a relatively short but steady hike to Barafu Camp. The trail ascends through rocky and rugged terrain, and you’ll notice the surroundings becoming more barren and alpine as you gain elevation.
By the time you arrive at Barafu Camp (4,673m), the high altitude will likely be more noticeable. It’s important to stay hydrated and rest well, as this is your final stop before the summit attempt.
Barafu Camp serves as the base camp for the final climb to Uhuru Peak. Although the excitement and nerves may rise, try to get a good night’s sleep to prepare your body and mind for the biggest day ahead.

Day 5
Barafu Camp to Summit (Uhuru Peak) to Mweka Camp
Barafu Camp to Summit (Uhuru Peak) to Mweka Camp
This is the big day — the summit push. You’ll start very early, around midnight or 1 AM, with the goal of reaching Uhuru Peak just in time for sunrise. The climb is steep, and the final stretch can be very challenging due to the high altitude, freezing temperatures, and darkness.
But once you reach the summit, standing on Uhuru Peak (5,895m) — the highest point in Africa — the views and sense of achievement are absolutely unforgettable. 🌄🏔️
After taking in the moment and capturing your summit memories, you begin the long descent back down to Mweka Camp (3,100m). This part can be hard on your knees, so it's important to go slow, use trekking poles, and stay hydrated. A warm meal and a well-earned rest await you at the camp.

Day 6
Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate
Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate
After a good night’s rest, you’ll begin the final descent from Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate (1,640m). While it’s a longer walk, it’s much less strenuous as you descend steadily through the lush rainforest, passing through several beautiful vegetation zones on your way down.
Once you reach Mweka Gate, your Kilimanjaro trek officially comes to an end. You’ll sign out, receive your summit certificate, and take a moment to celebrate your incredible achievement with your team. 🎉

After completing your descent to Mweka Gate, you’ll be transferred to Moshi or Arusha for your departure. This is your time to relax, enjoy a warm celebratory meal, and reflect on your incredible accomplishment.
Whether you’re heading back home or on to your next adventure, you leave with unforgettable memories and the pride of standing on the Roof of Africa. 🏔️💛
