Zanzibar to Mikumi National Park

Begin your journey with a morning ferry from Zanzibar to Dar es Salaam (approx. 2 hours).

Upon arrival, a guide will transfer you to the SGR terminal where you’ll board the modern Standard Gauge Railway for a scenic 2.5-hour ride to Morogoro. Enjoy views of coastal towns, villages, and landscapes along the way.

In Morogoro, your safari guide and vehicle will pick you up for a 2-hour drive to Mikumi. After lunch and lodge check-in, you'll visit a nearby Maasai boma to learn about their traditions, dances, and way of life—a rich cultural addition to your trip.

Mikumi National Park

After an early breakfast, head into Mikumi National Park for a full-day safari in a 4x4 open-roof vehicle.

This "mini Serengeti" is rich in biodiversity and known for its accessible game viewing. Spot herds of elephants, impalas, giraffes, buffaloes, and zebras, and keep an eye out for lions and leopards in the grasslands. Your guide will take you to prime game-viewing areas like the Mkata Floodplain and the hippo pools, with a picnic lunch served inside the park.

Return to the lodge in the evening to unwind and enjoy dinner.

Mikumi to Zanzibar

After breakfast, depart by road to Morogoro SGR station for your train back to Dar es Salaam. On arrival, a guide will transfer you to the ferry terminal for your afternoon ferry to Zanzibar, where the tour ends.
