Day 2

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, your PAG Safaris guide will pick you up from your accommodation, and you'll begin your journey to Tarangire National Park a scenic drive of approximately two and a half hours along well-paved roads.

Named after the life-giving Tarangire River, the park becomes a vital refuge for wildlife during the dry season, drawing large concentrations of animals to its banks. Renowned for its impressive elephant herds, Tarangire offers excellent opportunities to observe these gentle giants up close. You may also spot giraffes, bushbucks, hartebeest, and if you're lucky predators like lions and leopards that often roam the area. A delicious picnic lunch will be enjoyed at one of the designated sites within the park before continuing your wildlife exploration.

After breakfast, your journey continues into the cooler highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Along the way, you’ll have the chance to pause and take in the breathtaking views of the Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s most iconic natural landmarks. From there, you'll travel onward through the conservation area until you reach the southern region of Serengeti National Park.

The Serengeti is nothing short of extraordinary. Its vast, open plains offer unparalleled opportunities to observe wildlife in their natural habitat. While the park teems with a diverse range of animals, it is especially renowned for hosting the great migration one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Depending on the time of year, you may witness massive herds of wildebeest, zebras, and antelopes as they move across the landscape in search of water and fresh grazing.

After a hearty breakfast, you'll set off on a scenic drive to the legendary Ngorongoro Crater, soaking in sweeping vistas and the chance to spot wildlife along the way. The afternoon will be dedicated to exploring this extraordinary natural wonder before continuing on to your accommodation in Karatu.

Descending into the crater is a journey in itself, offering dramatic panoramic views that reveal the rich life below. On the crater floor, you’ll encounter abundant wildlife wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, and more alongside over 500 species of birds, including vibrant flamingos and elegant crowned cranes. The area is also one of the best places in East Africa to spot the endangered black rhino, a rare and unforgettable sight.

This morning, you will set off for Lake Manyara National Park, the final highlight of your incredible safari journey. Located about 120 km west of Arusha, Lake Manyara is a compact yet remarkably diverse park. Despite being one of the narrowest parks in Africa, it offers an epic experience with the towering Great Rift Escarpment forming a dramatic backdrop along its western edge.

The park takes its name from the shallow salt lake that dominates much of the landscape. This lake expands and recedes with the seasons, creating a vital habitat for thousands of wading birds including vibrant flamingos and more than 500 other bird species. Following your game drive, we will transfer you to your preferred drop-off point whether that’s Arusha town, Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), or Arusha Airport (ARK).
