Day 2

Antananarivo - Andasibe national park

After breakfast at the hotel, depart for a visit to the cultural and historical of Ambohimanga royal Palace. Here you will see the royal city, the burial site, and the ensemble of sacred places. The center lands of Madagascar, including the lands around Ambahimanga, were inhabited as early as 200 before jesus christ by the island’s first occupants, the vazimbas, who appear to have come from southeast Borneo by canoe and established villages rudimentary in the forest. Continue to Andasibe with stops at the landscapes for photos and any break if necessary. Overnight in Bed and breakfast Basis at Vakona forest Lodge.

Visit to Analamazaotra National Park to catch up with the Indri-Indri and the Diademed Sifaka in their forest home. You can hear the peculiar call of the indri very early in the morning until noon and again in the late afternoon. They are the largest living lemurs and the people of Malagasy call them Babakoto. Andasibe is the best place to observe the Indris and learn more about them as there are several legends trying to explain its origins since it is considered a sacred animal in the whole Madagascar. Apart from the Indri there are other lemur species in the forest such as woody lemur, grey bamboo lemur, diademed sifaka, brown lemur, red mouse-lemur, red-bellied lemur, black and white ruffed lemur and even aye-aye. Lunch at noon and afterward, enjoy the lemur personal experience up close with a visit at the Vakona Reserve Zoo to see the many crocodiles in the huge river enclosure, native birds, and other wildlife in well-kept surroundings.

Day 4

After breakfast, we will leave Andasibe by driving directly back up to Antsirabe, lunch on the spot. Antsirabe is a city in the highlands of Madagascar, capital of the vakinankaratra region, in the center of the island. It is the third largest city in Madagascar, with an urban area estimated at 257,163 inhabitants.
The city was founded by the Norwegian Lutheran missionary Thorkild Guttormsen Rosaas) (1841-1913) in 1872 as a high station, to serve as a retreat center, due to the much cooler climate in the island. The thermal baths were opened in 1917. The springs of thermal water and their virtues were discovered according to some by T.G. Rosaas (Thorkild Guttormsen Rosaas) himself according to others, in 1900, by captain Roland Cadet (1861-1934), attracted people illustrious.
Possessing very rich volcanic soil, the Antsirabe region is one of the most productive regions of the island. The city of Antsirabe has now become one of the most important industrial centers in the country.

After breakfast, departure for a destination in Fianarantsoa stopover in Ambositra to visit the village Zafimaniry and the handcrafts shops.
Villages Zafimaniry is an isolated region of Madagascar near the town of Ambositra. Inhabited by one of the 18 ethnic groups of Madagascar, this region is characterized by a typical architectural style of its villages, its crafts, as well as by the particularity of the Zafimaniry culture.
Lunch on the way, then continue to Fianarantsoa, one of the six big city in the island, built on a site of hills alternating with valleys, the town of Fianarantsoa is spread over three floors: the upper town, the colonial city then the lower town. Fianarantsoa is one of the most commercial cities in Madagascar and trade is a major activity there. In addition to the tertiary sector, agriculture also occupies a place in the economy. The surrounding area partly grows tobacco, rice, grapes and coffee. It also has specialized farms.

Fianarantsoa - Ambalavao

After breakfast, Departure throught the south to reach Ambalavao’s village. Ambalavao is a town in Madagascar located southeast of the haute Matsiatra region, 56km south of Fianarantsoa. It is known for its beautiful house-verandas with wooden balustrades formed by geometric patterns. Anja Reserve is one of the ideal places to meet the ring-tailed lemur up close. Le lemur catta is a relatively large, diurnal lemur, easily recognized by its black-and-white ringed tail, and it is by far the most terrestrial of all living lemur species. It has a head-tail length of 95-110cm. This species is the best known of Madagscar’s lemurs and cannot be confused with any other species. You have to see ring-tailed lemurs live in multi-male, multi-female groups usually numbering 6-24 animals.

After breakfast, departure to reach the most famous tourist attractions (national park of Ranomafana) of the island. On the way, day possibility to visit the rice field. Arrival after 4hours drive and installation at hotel. In the afternoon before night walk, relaxation in the natural hot swimming pool.

This morning we search Ranomafana National Park’s rainforest for lemurs, accompanied by our local tour guide. The forest is home of to 11 other lemur species. The Park is particularly rich in flora and features many plant varieties unknown elsewhere, including different types of orchids and ferns. This day includes strenuous walks in the rainforest. After 4 hours visit, we will get back to the hotel for lunch, and get rest a little bit before starting the Guided night walk in the area around our hotel to try and spot the Rufous Mouse Lemur, the Greater Dwarf Lemur and some of the other nocturnal wildlife.

Breakfast at the hotel, then drive back up to Antsirabe, always through the typical landscape of the highland you can visit and take some photo of the rice fields, typical villages of the Merina tribe, rocky hill. Arrival in Antsirabe in late afternoon, installation in your room.

After breakfast, continuation to the capital. Free lunch during the road, to be chosen with the Guide. Upon arrival in the Capital, before to go to the airport visit of the city of Antananarivo to discover the daily life of the population of the capital which we find all the local handicrafts of all the 6 Province of Madagascar, are all handmade objects, it must be said that here is the time that we can get to know the country as well, because we all find it there. Transfer to the airport and fly back home.
