You'll begin early with a transfer from your hotel to Julius Nyerere International Airport for a flight to Kigoma.
Upon arrival, meet your guide and board a boat across the calm, crystal-clear waters of Lake Tanganyika toward Gombe Stream National Park. The scenic journey offers views of fishing villages and lush hillsides before reaching the park’s shore.
(If you arrive at the lodge and the weather allows, you can take a morning Chimpanzee trek before lunch.)
After lunch at your lodge or campsite, you'll enjoy an orientation walk along the lake, spotting colorful bird species and perhaps a troop of baboons near the beach. In the late afternoon, you'll relax at the lodge, swim in the lake’s pristine waters, or take a gentle forest walk to acclimatize before the trek.
Your dinner and overnight stay will be at Gombe lodge or campsite, listening to the sounds of the forest under a star-filled sky.

You'll start your morning early with breakfast on the deck, serenaded by birdsong and gentle lake waves.
With your expert guide and park rangers, you'll venture deep into Gombe’s tropical forests, following trails used by researchers for decades. You'll trek for several hours, observing wild chimpanzees in their natural habitat as they forage, play, and interact.
Along the way, your guide shares fascinating insights into Jane Goodall’s groundbreaking work and the park’s ecology. You'll enjoy a picnic lunch near a scenic clearing, then hike to Kakombe or Mkenke Waterfalls, perfect for photos and a refreshing rest.
You'll return to the lodge in the afternoon to relax on your private deck or swim in the crystal-clear waters of Lake Tanganyika. As night falls, you will savor a candlelit dinner and reflect on the day’s thrilling encounters.

You'll wake up early for a short forest walk, offering one last chance to spot primates, colorful birds, and unique plants. (only if you leave with the afternoon plane)
After breakfast, you'll embark on your boat journey back to Kigoma, enjoying sweeping lake views. In Kigoma, you'll take a brief town tour if time permits, visiting the historic Livingstone Memorial before heading to the airport for your flight back to Dar es Salaam.
You'll arrive in Dar by evening and be dropped off at your hotel, marking the end of your luxury Gombe safari. This unforgettable adventure combines remote wilderness exploration, chimpanzee encounters, and the comfort of Mbali Mbali Lodge, leaving you with lasting memories of one of Africa’s most iconic wildlife destinations.
