Upon arrival at Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) in Dar es Salaam, you will be met by a Safari with me representative and transferred to your hotel. Flight to Selous Game Reserve

Today, you will be transferred to a local airport for your scheduled flight to Selous Game Reserve. Upon arrival, you will be met by a guide from Rufiji River Camp and immediately embark on your first game drive. You will begin to explore this massive, wild reserve, looking for its abundant wildlife.
Selous Game Reserve
Selous is one of Africa's largest and most remote game reserves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its pristine and untouched wilderness. Unlike the Northern Circuit, Selous offers a unique combination of land-based game drives, boat safaris, and walking safaris. The reserve is home to a significant population of elephants, wild dogs, lions, leopards, and a vast array of birdlife.

River Rufiji Boat Safari & Game Drive

A full day of adventure awaits in Selous. Your safari experience will include a thrilling boat safari along the Rufiji River. This offers a unique perspective on the wildlife, as you get up close to hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of birds that line the riverbanks. The rest of the day will be spent on a traditional game drive, searching for other animals in the reserve.

Walking Safari in Selous

This day offers a truly immersive and different perspective on the African bush. You will embark on a guided walking safari with an armed ranger. This allows you to experience the sights, sounds, and smells of the wilderness from the ground, focusing on the smaller details that are often missed from a vehicle, such as animal tracks, insects, and unique plant life. The walk will be followed by another game drive to search for the reserve's larger mammals.

Flight to Ruaha National Park

After a final morning activity in Selous, you will be transferred to the local airstrip for your flight to Ruaha National Park. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to Ruaha River Lodge, immediately beginning a game drive as you make your way to the lodge. You will get your first glimpse of this wild and rugged park.

Ruaha is Tanzania's largest national park and remains one of Africa's best-kept secrets. Known for its wild and untamed feel, it is a vast landscape of baobab trees, rocky escarpments, and the Great Ruaha River. Your evening is spent at Ruaha River Lodge, enjoying a final dinner in the bush.

Departure
