Visit the Mara River, where hippos wallow and crocodiles bask along the banks.

For guests seeking a unique experience, a hot air balloon safari can be arranged at sunrise (optional, at an extra cost), offering panoramic views of the plains and wildlife from above. After an early breakfast, check out and drive northwards towards Lake Nakuru National Park. The journey takes you back through the Rift Valley, passing scenic highlands and farmlands. Arrive in Nakuru in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive. Lake Nakuru is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a haven for both wildlife and birdlife. It is one of the best places in Kenya to see black and white rhinos, which are protected within the park. Other notable wildlife includes Rothschild’s giraffes, lions, leopards, waterbucks, and buffalo.

The lake itself is fringed with birdlife, including pelicans, herons, cormorants, and, depending on conditions, flocks of flamingos. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat ride on Lake Naivasha, where you can spot hippos submerged in the water, African fish eagles swooping down to catch fish, and an array of aquatic bird species.

Later, proceed to Crescent Island Sanctuary, a private reserve accessible by boat. Crescent Island is unique as it has no predators, which means you can safely walk among freely roaming animals such as giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and gazelles while enjoying up-close wildlife encounters on foot. These swamp areas attract a high concentration of wildlife, including elephants, buffalo, hippos, and a wide variety of birds. In the open plains, predators such as lions, hyenas, and cheetahs may be spotted. Early morning offers the clearest views of Kilimanjaro, so this is the best time for photography.
