Nairobi to Samburu National Reserve
Depart Nairobi at around 6:30 am and begin the journey to Samburu National Reserve. After about two and a half hours of driving, you will reach Nanyuki town. Here, you will have a stopover at the equator crossing. This is an imaginary line that divides the Earth into 2 hemispheres: North and South. There is a big sign/marker, where you will have opportunities to take photos.
On a clear day, you will also be able to view Mount Kenya.
The journey to Samburu continues, and upon arrival, you will check-in, have lunch, and then proceed for an afternoon game viewing in the reserve.
Dinner and overnight at Samburu Sopa Lodge/Similar.
Fun Fact
The Equator divides the Earth into two: North and South hemispheres. When the sun is directly above the Earth's equator, sunlight shines perpendicular to the Earth's axis, and all latitudes have a 12-hour day and a 12-hour night. The sun passes directly above the equator twice a year, around March 20 and September 23, a phenomenon called the equinox.
