Hluhluwe-Umfolozi, nature at its best

Beautiful green, with a bit of hills and lots of White rhino, zebra and birds.
We had a great lunch at Top Hill (lunch with a view). Also a good shop here. We entered at Memorial gate and left at Nyalazi gate. Excellent experience.

The best way to observe wildlife in their natural habitat!

This was my first safari experience and I absolutely loved it. The pristine beauty of the land at Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve; the diversity of animals and fauna; and best of all, the ability to observe wildlife in their natural habitat, is an experience I have not forgotten. The Reserve is easily accessible from Durban and should be on the must-see lists of all visitors to this beautiful part of South Africa!

Excellent to see game. The park is renown for its Black and White rhino, the latter which were saved from near extinction in a capture programme pioneered in this park and many subsequently translocated to other parks. Regretfully rhino are once again under extreme pressure due to increasing demand in the East for rhino horn and many have as a result been brutely killed by poachers. Elephant, Lion, Hippo and Buffalo may amongst other be seen, and if really lucky Leopard. The Greater St Lucia Park is within a short distance where Hippo and Crocodile may be seen.

A day of great wildlife in a green ambiance

After two days of wildlife in a very dry and sunny Kruger Park I expected to see more of the same in the Hluhluwe umfolozi game reserve. But the park brought an other experience of nature in South Africa. The game reserve was fully green with trees and plants. During an exciting search we came on small distance of elephants, giraffes and rhinos. My pictures and movies from this safari are really sensational. In our group we were surprised how time was flying during this visit. In the Hluhluwe-Umofolozi Game reserve you really should make enough time for a long safari. Driving around the park to find the animals was a nice surprise during the trip threw South Africa.

Living in a tent in the middle of the wildlife, withing 15 min driving seeing lots of rhino and elephants... especially the baby rhino was cute. Apes came even in our tent!

If I could I would defintely go again!

This was my very first Safari experience in Africa, and the trip to Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve lived up to my expectations.

Although we did not get to see any large cats, it was still awesome to see all manner of mammals and birds. The particularly spectacular experience was seeing herds of elephants from just a few feet away, along with giraffe, zebra, all manner of deer, springbok, etc. I particularly remember seeing a beautiful zebra -- he/she looked gorgeous, even as we got close, and then we passed on the other side, we saw a huge gash on her face; the guide said she likely was attacked by a cat, and would be dead by nightfall.

This reserve has all the wild animals that Kruger has and being in KwaZulu Natal has a different and interesting bird life.
