A place frozen in time - trying to preserve these endangered species.

The heart of Africa, tens of thousands of animals in a beautiful scenic locations. Look out for the rhino.

Ngorongoro was absolutely beautiful. There is a great mix of animals here and you have the chance to see every one of the big five. Because it is a smaller space there are a lot of other trucks around though so it can feel a bit cramped.

Beautiful place, with animals so used to the vehicles the lions even fell asleep leaning on one of the vehicles. Which really sums it up - so many tourists that they are used to being watched - for every lion a convoy of jeeps would appear.

Overall a good experience, but to see Tanzania you really need to get away to one of the more isolated parks such as Selous or Ruaha. We visited with Specialist Tanzania who organised an excellent holiday and I would not hesitate to recommend both the country and the company.

There is no other place I have found in the region with the spectacular scenery of the crater. The crater wall makes such a superb backdrop for the wildlife resident there.

A stunning place of geological history! So unique, so vast, so beautiful. Do not miss a stop at Gibbs Farm for at least a lunch visit. Very close to Ngorongoro.

The animals are there, in one compact space. And so are the people. But it is quite unique - the early morning drive to the crater rim is often foggy and wet, and the steep descent an adventure itself. If your time is brief, and you crave instant animal gratification, go here. If you have more time and the inclination - make the bumpy, dusty drive to Olduvai Gorge, request Lucas as your guide, and revel in hominid history.
A warning: There is a fee to enter the Ngorongoro Conservation area. You must pay again if you want to go into the Ngorongoro Crater. And you must pay again to enter the Serengeti. This traveler thinks that is too much paying.

Amazing park with fantastic wildlife, easily reached from the pleasant town of Arusha. This means it is packed with safari vehicles. But then anywhere good is going to be busy nowadays, isn't it? Goes hand in hand with the Serengeti - you can't go to one without visiting the other. Rivals the Mara and Kruger as one of the greatest parks in Africa.
