Incredible and unforgettable experience with the best guide Rodger
If you’re planning to book a safari with Axis Safari, do yourself a favor and ask for Rodger as your guide – he truly made this trip something we will remember for the rest of our lives.
We did the 6-day safari through Masai Mara, Amboseli, and Lake Nakuru, and honestly, it exceeded every expectation we had. From the very first day until the very last, everything felt incredibly well organized, exciting, and special – and a huge part of that was because of Rodger.
He went above and beyond every single day to make sure we saw as many animals as possible, and thanks to his dedication and incredible spotting skills, we managed to find all of the Big Five in an amazingly short amount of time something we definitely won’t forget!
What made the trip even more special was Rodger himself. He was incredibly friendly, always in a great mood, and shared so much knowledge about the animals, nature, and the parks. You could really feel his experience and passion. Searching for animals with him was not only exciting but also so much fun – there were always interesting stories, great explanations, and laughs along the way.
The camps were also really great. We especially loved the Manjaro Camp in Amboseli – beautiful view to the Kilimanjaro, great facilities, and everyone there was extremely welcoming and friendly and the food was amazing. It made the whole experience even more enjoyable.
We also really appreciated Rodger during a more challenging situation: there were demonstrations in Kenia because of the increased fuel prices and traffic disruptions, but he stayed calm the entire time, kept us informed, and did everything he could to make sure we got through safely and comfortably. We always felt well taken care.
Overall, we had an absolutely wonderful time and would recommend this safari to everyone. Huge thanks to Rodger for making this trip so memorable – we’ll never forget it and enclosed him already in our hearts.
Sante Sana Rodger!

Great personality, hard working for us, always caring.
We had a great time with our guide Rodger. He took us to Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru and Amboseli for 6 days of game drives and lots of wild animals. He always wanted our best and cared for our safety. He had a big knowledge of the parks and all the animals, there was no question he couldn’t answer. He managed our group very well and kept calm even in difficult situations. The accommodations we stayed were all in good condition and had tasty food! Also the jeep we went with was in a good condition, always cleaned up again in the morning and filled up with fresh water.
I would highly recommend you to go on tour with Rodger for a great experience of the African wild life.
Hakuna Matata!
Reliable
The Massai Mara and Lake Nakuru was amazing! Everything was very easy, they arranged pick up in the hotel and took us to our Guide, Richard who was very nice, funny, friendly, he was always on time and he knew every single animal. He gave us a lot of time with each animal and you can really tell he loves what he does. The accomodation and food everything was good. We did the ballon safari and we highly recommend it. Loved every single moment in this safari! Axis safari was flexible to our last minute changes with no problem. Book with Axis and ask for RICHARD!
Great safari, bad timing
I want to first say that our guide, Rodger, was excellent. He was very knowledgeable and helped us find all the ‘Big 5’ and many other beautiful animals. The accommodations were lovely- the campsite was great to connect with nature, and the hotel was comfortable and clean with tasty meals. The game drives were fantastic.
The reason I gave this safari a 3/5 is not the fault of the guide. On May 18th, the 3rd day of the safari, there were massive protests over gas prices all over Kenya, which turned into rioting, blocking roads and stopping cars. This is not the fault of Axis. The issue was the way the company handled the situation (this does not include Rodger- he was calm under pressure and kept us as safe as possible). Part of the issue here is that Axis combines travelers who are on different tours without clarifying it. There were people on the tour that were only there for 3 days, while others booked for 4 or more. This means that our third day involved bringing the people who had to go back to the office to a drop off point near Nairobi. This is where we got stranded for multiple hours with very little communication or assistance from the office. We spent the whole morning driving, leaving at 6 am, arriving midday and then staying in place. When asked about a refund of some sort for the day that really only included 2 hours of activity, we were told ‘well, day 3 is always a travel day’. The itinerary does not disclose that. They make it look as if there’s multiple activities that happen on day 3. On top of that, guests on our safari had to pay to change flights, without help from the office or clarification on what would happen to help them. Two of the people who were split from the group eventually to go to the airport were hit with a bag of rocks through the window of the car they were put in, leading to them being covered in glass. Again, this isn’t something the company can necessarily control, but the things they can control were handled poorly in my opinion.
Again, this would’ve been a great safari. The issues I had were partially the situation but mostly the office’s handling of it. Rodger was an excellent guide.
Rodger was extremely kind and professional
All the staff members were very kind and had great, reliable communication right from when we arrived at the office on the first day, to when we got dropped off at the airport at the end of our safari. Rodger, our tour guide was very good at driving through the difficult landscape, was always on time picking us up/dropping us off, and taught us so much about the animals we saw. He always drove fast and positioned us at the best spots so we could get great views of the animals. May was a great time to do the safari because it was not very busy in the nature park, and the weather was amazing. Food was good, they had carbohydrates, vegetables, meat, and vegetarian options at every meal. We stayed in tents which was definitely an unusual experience, but it was clean and cozy. It was very cool hearing all the animal noises at nighttime and the surrounding scenery was beautiful. I would definitely recommend this safari.
