"An Unforgettable Family Safari with an Exceptional Team"

Our family has just returned from an unforgettable safari in Tanzania, and we couldn't be happier with our experience with Meru Slopes Tours & Safaris.

From the very beginning, Gift Tembo was outstanding. He was always available, responsive, and highly professional, taking the time to understand exactly the kind of trip we were looking for. He patiently answered all our questions, accommodated our requests, and helped us create a tailor-made itinerary that exceeded our expectations.

A very special thank you goes to our guide and driver, Samuel. His knowledge of the parks, wildlife, and Tanzanian culture, together with his driving skills and ability to spot animals, made every game drive an incredible experience. He guided us through the three parks in the best possible way, allowing us to experience nature at its finest.

Another heartfelt thank you goes to Buga, our chef, who became a true icon of our group. Every meal was delicious, varied, and carefully prepared, making everyone in our family—including our children—look forward to mealtime every day. His warmth, kindness, and good humor made the camping experience even more special.

Thanks to this exceptional team, our journey was perfectly organized from start to finish and gave us memories that will stay with us for a lifetime.

We had the most amazing experience at the safari and me and my partner are so glad to have chosen Meru Slopes Tours & Safaris! We did it after carefully reviewing a number of websites and couldn't have made a better choice. Here's a few points that will hopefully help the others to choose. We went for a 6 days/5 nights safari. While it was a budget safari, the treatment was royal and there was nothing budget about it, from what I could see, the only difference would be where we slept (3 nights in camps vs lodges). Even two other nights were in a lodge not on a camping, and being in a camping was a positive experience - two nights in the middle of the Serengeti, and at the rim of the Ngorongoro crater, we had see zebras walking among tents. While on a subject of lodging - Meru Slopes also added the night before the safari and the one before in a hotel in Arusha with dinner and breakfast, free of charge. We didn't know we needed towels for campsites - they lent us two from the hotel. Nothing was a problem. This generosity extended across the safari. Food and drink was aplenty, and delicious, cooked by our excellent cook Godi. I will forever remember amazing salads, pancakes for breakfast, Tanzanian pizzas, and other Tanzanian specialties that Godi magically created to the same level, whether it was in a lodge or a campsite. Last but definitely not least was our amazing guide Lobulo. So knowledgeable, we learned lots about Tanzania and animals, an excellent driver and animal spotter. We saw the big five, more than 50 lions, a cheetah and plenty of other animals. And I would like to add a thank you to our contact at Meru Slopes, Gift, who organized our stay, and had patience to answer all the questions. I was really touched by care, generosity and respect to every sort of tourist, and genuine will to show the country. Ah - jeeps with opening roof were great, there were binoculars for everyone. And we were picked up at the airport and dropped off when leaving. The whole package so that one doesn't have to worry about anything. I would definitely go with Meru Slopes again, and ask for Lobulo and Godi to be a guide and cook again! Thank you for this experience, it has been an unforgettable one!

Great organization with safe driver, excellent information and superior experience

A big thank you to the Meru Slopes Team - we had a great Safari thanks to Leonard who organized everything in an excellent way, answering immediately when a question showed up. Daniel was driving us safely, always spreading out good mood, finding all the animals for us, answering all our questions about them and finding solid solutions, even when we had a breakdown with the car - what can happen on pists like these. Last but not least we had agreed Chef and „stomach engineer“ who took care of us in a delicious way. All together, you made this trip to a special and wonderful experience for us!

We agree with all the other guides who told us we were lucky because Meru Slopes were the best.

We booked Meru Slopes directly after reading reviews about them on Safari Bookings. We emailed the company and Gift Tembo replied within an hour asking when and what we were looking for.
Our experience from there was fantastic. Gift adjusted our itinerary continually as we fine tuned travel to and from Tanzania.
In the end they organised an 8 day personal tour - just the 2 of us and a guide. The value for money was wonderful compared to pricing we’d when first investigating a Safari holiday.
Meru Slopes covered everything - meeting our 4am arrival flight, organising an early check in that day so we could sleep and recover, and then doing a late briefing about the Safari.
The Safari was everything we had hoped for and more. Our guide, Daniel Mbise was fantastic - taking us away from the crowds and finding so many animals and birds for us to enjoy - often the only cruiser stopped by the roadside. His chats about animal and bird behaviour were sensational - proving time and time again to have an encyclopaedic knowledge of what we were looking at and were they fitted into the local environment.
And at the end of each day, the accommodation provided was lovely. Mid quality according to Gift, but excellent quality was our experience.
In summary, if you’re thinking about organising a Safari holiday, take the plunge. Contact Meru Slopes and book direct. You won’t be disappointed.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Gift Tembo for his prompt responses and perfectly custom‑tailored safari itinerary that fully met our needs. We enjoyed an unforgettable 8‑day wildlife safari in Tanzania.

We are also deeply thankful to our guide, Daniel Mbise. He shared extensive knowledge about wildlife, local culture and regional history. During game drives, he demonstrated exceptional observational skills and great patience, enabling us to spot many rarely‑seen species, including warthogs, hyenas, servals and rhinos. We captured numerous fantastic photos and created precious lifelong memories.
