An Amazing 9-Day Ugandan Adventure with Frena Adventures!
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Frena Adventures for an unforgettable 9-day holiday in Uganda. The entire trip was beautifully organized, filled with breathtaking moments, and truly one of the best travel experiences I’ve ever had.
A very special thank you goes to Ronnie, our guide. His deep knowledge of wildlife, nature, and culture, along with his kindness, professionalism, and great sense of humor, made every day enjoyable. Ronnie always ensured we were comfortable, safe, and getting the most out of each experience.
The trip was full of incredible highlights:
🌿 Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park — an unforgettable, emotional encounter with a mountain gorilla family in the misty forest. A once-in-a-lifetime experience.
🐵 Chimp trekking in Kibale Forest — watching the chimps swing, play, and interact in their natural environment was absolutely fascinating.
🦏 Visiting the rhinos at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary — seeing these magnificent animals up close was a powerful and inspiring moment.
🦁 Game drives in Queen Elizabeth National Park and Murchison Falls National Park — we spotted lions, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, antelopes, warthogs, and a stunning variety of birds. The landscapes were as impressive as the wildlife.
🚤 Boat safaris, including the Kazinga Channel and the Nile in Murchison Falls, offered incredible views of animals along the water and a totally unique perspective of the parks.
🌄 Exploring caves and scenic viewpoints added even more adventure and depth to the journey, showing the diverse beauty of Uganda’s landscapes.
And of course, the mighty Murchison Falls, with the Nile squeezing through the narrow gorge, was simply spectacular.
Throughout the trip, the accommodations were comfortable, the meals were excellent, and the entire itinerary was smooth and well-organized. Frena Adventures truly took care of every detail, allowing us to fully enjoy the experience.
Thank you, Frena Adventures, and especially Ronnie, for an incredible holiday filled with unforgettable memories, stunning wildlife, and breathtaking nature. I highly recommend this company to anyone wanting to explore the beauty of Uganda. This journey will stay in my heart forever!

Bwindi is amazing!
I had a 2 day itinerary from Kigali to both the Volcanoes National Park and the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Ronnie was my driver and the car was very comfortable (this is important for me as I can get travel sick otherwise). The tour was nicely paced. Seeing the golden monkeys in Volcanoes National Park was great but the real highlight was Bwindi Impenetrable Forest: trekking families of gorillas was amazing! I went for the midrange itinerary and the lodge I stayed in had absolutely beautiful views over the mountains.

Reliable operator, good guides
Frena was a reliable tour operator. The vehicle was comfortable, all the bookings were made in good places (as per the moderate package that I had picked).
The guide, Kendrick, was very friendly and knowledgeable.

Honeymooning with the Gorillas and Golden Monkeys!
We had a spectacular Honeymoon trip with Frena Adventures seeing the gorillas chill in Bwindi Forest, seeing the wonderful culture of Rwanda and Uganda, and watching the Golden Monkeys jump around in Volcanoes National Park. It was a surreal experience hiking for 2 hours to interact and take photos of the stunning gorillas - just inches away from us. Our guide, Issa, was very helpful, knowledgeable, and kind during our entire 3-day drive. We enjoyed our delicious home-made meals, talking about life in Rwanda/Uganda, and driving around seeing the different cultures. You can tell Issa takes pride in what he does and loves his country and the animals. We would recommend Frena Adventures if you are looking for adventure in Rwanda and Uganda. My wife and I had a trip of a lifetime!
Note for future travelers: Roads are VERY bumpy. If you tend to get car sick, bring anti-nausea medication. You do need to wear a surgical mask to see the gorillas and monkeys, so make sure you pack some. The Volcanoes National Park only takes Visa card the day of the hike. Although we did pay the tour upfront for our passes, we did have to pay again when we got there (thank goodness we had our Visa with us). But Issa reimbursed us right when we met back with him after the hike was over. There is a cultural experience in your itinerary – we would recommend bringing plenty of tip money if you do proceed with that part of the trip. Lastly, it would be helpful for Frena to ensure the guides know exact location of lodges/hotels to prevent them getting lost.
We can’t wait to travel with Frena Tours in the future!
Lodges we stayed in: Four Gorillas Lodge, Five Volcanos Boutique Hotel. We highly recommend these lodges booked by Frena Tours. They were wonderful

An Unforgettable Wildlife and Cultural Journey with Frena Adventure
Not only did I encounter golden monkeys and mountain gorillas, but I also enjoyed the breathtaking landscapes and rich culture along the Rwanda–Uganda border. Frena Adventure offered several tour plans tailored to my budget, and everything went smoothly without any trouble throughout the trip.
Their itineraries allowed me to appreciate not just the wildlife, but also the natural beauty and cultural richness of the region.
Classic Lodge was impressively luxurious for a mid-range option, featuring a pool, spa, and even a sauna.
At Gorilla Lodge, I had an incredible experience immersed in the rainforest.
The lodge was located on the only island in the lake that is home to wild animals, and the lounge provided a panoramic view of the water.
I highly recommend Frena Adventure for anyone seeking an unforgettable and well-rounded African journey.

Fantastic tour operator everything was perfect from accommodations, itinerary, and driver/guide.
From start to finish Fred at Frena Adventures was great to communicate with. We were a bunch of three older ladies that went on this trip. Our trip was for the Rwanda gorilla trek and Golden Monkey with a day at Lake Kivu. Our trip dates changed a few times and Fred was able to make all the changes accordingly. There were many questions and concerns and Fred answered everything professionally and timely. We did the mid-range tour. Accommodations were clean, service was great and the food was fantastic. Our driver Ronald was personable, always prompt to pick us up and make sure we got to our activities on time. He was a very careful driver. I would certainly use frena Adventures again and highly recommend them.

Excellent Gorilla trekking experience in Uganda and Rwanda
The entire tour was incredible from start to finish. Very well organized by Fred and perfectly executed with Ronnie, my tour guide and driver. Ronnie was very knowledgeable, courteous and attentive. It was such a pleasure driving through the amazingly beautiful landscape of Uganda and Rwanda with him explaining the lifestyle, culture and history of the region. My stay at the Rushaga lodge in Uganda and the Migano hotel in Rwanda was excellent. The highlight of the entire tour was the Gorilla trekking itself in Bwindi Impenetrable forest - the proximity and interactions with the gorillas and the hike through the forest itself were so exhilarating - excellently arranged by the guides and rangers in Bwindi forest. The Volcanoes Golden Monkey trek was ok. I was comfortably taken to catch my flight out of Kigali airport on time. As a solo female traveller, at all times I felt incredibly safe and comfortable throughout this tour - I would certainly recommend this tour, Ronnie the tour guide and Frena adventures for a well worthwhile and wonderful trip!

Truly memorable trip
I booked a three day Gorilla Trekking / Golden Monkey trip with Frena adventures in late February. It turned out to be an amazing adventure. It was a pleasure working with Fred (my initial contact at Frena) and Rodney (my driver for three days). Fred promptly responded to all my queries as we handled all the logistics /payments and planning of the trip over whatsapp. There were no surprises and things happened exactly as they were described to me.
My driver, Rodney was also outstanding. I was the only traveler on this trip and had the entire van to myself. Rodney was easy going and very knowledgeable. He was always on time and communicated very well. We chatted the entire way about so many things and I learned lot about the countries of Uganda/Rwanda, the history, politics, the people, the wildlife, he even told me exactly where the bottled water they provided me came from. He also worked with the Ranger personally for my pick up and drop off at the Bwindi Impenetrable forest for the Gorilla trek. I was again, a solo hiker on the Gorilla trek when we went looking for Gorillas. Coming in contact with these majestic apes in the wild was a amazing experience.
Golden Monkey trekking in Rwanda the next day, also went without a hitch and was so much fun.
I would definitely consider Frena Adventures for any future safaris and absolutely recommend them to anybody.
