Reliable office, but the safari itself is a gamble
5/5

I booked a shared safari with Moria Safaris for July 2026. Here's my honest experience.

The Good:

Jessica (my contact) was incredibly patient and responsive throughout. We exchanged nearly 40 emails before I confirmed, and she never made me feel rushed or annoying. She answered quickly every single time – which mattered a lot to me as a solo traveler heading to a place far from home.

Even more impressive: I couldn't get my deposit to go through. My Visa kept failing on their payment platform. Jessica still held my spot and hotel reservations without receiving any payment – she took a real risk on me. When I arrived and paid in full, the hotels were not exactly what was originally quoted, but I was satisfied with the quality overall. I genuinely appreciated her trust.

When I raised issues during the trip, she responded promptly and tried to help.

The Mixed:

The driver/guide was not employed by Moria – this is standard for shared tours, but it's also where the experience becomes a lottery. My guide was 68 years old, had a short temper, and openly clashed with two Austrian travelers in my group over their lateness. After that, he barely spoke unless asked. I found myself caught in the middle, which was uncomfortable.

I also had issues with lunch boxes not being provided for the first two days, and the guide blamed me before Moria stepped in to fix it.

The Disappointing:

I had hoped to see the wildebeest river crossing in the Mara River, but the guide refused to take us there, saying it was too far and unlikely. That same day, I saw online that other travelers had witnessed the crossing. This was a major letdown. In hindsight, I should have confirmed this with the office beforehand – but I also wish the office had been clearer about what was realistically included.

A Quick Warning:

The driver took me to exchange money and buy a SIM card. The rates were higher than what other travelers I met paid. He also didn't mention the 5,000 TZS SIM card fee until after the transaction – which felt sneaky. I would advise future travelers to handle these things at the airport or ask for full pricing upfront.

Final Verdict:

Jessica and the office team are solid – responsive, patient, and trustworthy. They genuinely tried to do right by me. However, the on-the-ground experience depends almost entirely on your guide and groupmates, and that is largely out of Moria's control.

For solo travelers: go in with open eyes. The office team is great. The safari itself is a roll of the dice. Next time, I would travel with a friend and book a private vehicle rather than joining a shared group – the randomness of guides and groupmates can be too much of a gamble. Unfortunately, my luck wasn't great this time around.

If you are adventurous but scared about what you will face, relax. I were having tons of questions in my mind even I booked to Moria Safaris for a 3 night 4 day tour. They all replied my questions in a patient mode, starting months before the trip and also the last day before the tour. All answers I had was true and no bad suprises or no additional charges happened during the safari. The guys took us to safari ( Anwar as driver/guide and the cook Freddy) was excellent. No security problem, no dangerous positions, also very friendly 4 full days. Meals prepared by our cook Freddy were so delicious and clean. Anwar, very carefull driver, deeply informative guide and also an experienced tracker made our safari tour unforgettable. Thanks to all Morina Safaris people for making greate Tanzania memories.

Fun and very knowledgeable, loves his job
5/5

The guide was driving very safely and always explained stuff to us whenever we had a question or saw something interesting. We got lucky and had the chance to see lots of animals. Also the chef had an amazing talent at cooking and all the food he made, every single course was very delicious. It was a great opportunity to learn about the culture, watch animals and make new friends that were sharing the same journey with us.

Well organized with only slight hiccups.

The safari was in the Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Tarangire parks. Wildlife was incredible. More than on any other of my eight safaris Accommodation was good, especially in the bush.

Good budget trip!

Cheap and fair opportunity to see Tanzanian's best parks. Tents were ok. Not too hot. I slept well.

Excepcional experience
5/5

About the administration, I must to say that they always answered my messages and addressed my concerns. The schedule was exactly as planned. The administration agent, Joshua, came to our accommodation the day before the safari and gave us a brief overview of what was going to happen.

About the Safari, we had an exceptional experience, with a special mention to our guide David Irafay. If you have the opportunity to request him, I promise you won't regret it, as it's difficult to describe in words everything we experienced. We saw the Big Five and many, many more thanks to David's expertise and patience. He also gave us information about animal life, national parks and more.
We stayed two days at Fig Tree Lodge, which was impeccable. They have a swimming pool, and everything was very clean. The beds were very comfortable and had private bathrooms. We camped for two nights, which was an incredible experience because you are surrounded by animals, and at night you can hear a lion walking beside your tent ( bear in mind that you are in a campsite, do not expect luxury, just enjoy the wild experience).
The food was also excellent, very tasty, and we were always satisfied. It should be noted that we never lacked cold bottled water during the entire safari.

My recommendation is, if you're hesitating, go for it!

An exceptional tour operator that delivers a perfectly organized, unforgettable safari experience.
5/5

I would definitely recommend Moria Safaris! We purchased a five-day package, and everything met the standards agreed upon with the company. This was our first safari experience, and the guide who accompanied us throughout the trip made it truly spectacular, allowing us to see the Big Five. I would like to give a special mention to David, who was extremely patient and made our trip absolutely amazing.

Responsible and attentive
5/5

The company met and exceeded my expectations, they were very attentive to the only request we made to keep the guide. Who by the way is an excellent person (David Irafay) The food is homemade, it is very good and abundant. Zafari's time was very sufficient and always in motion to have good views.

Awesome! Really looking forward to coming back again!
5/5

To be honest, as a first-time safari experience, it was absolutely amazing. In only four days we saw all of the Big Five, witnessed hunts, feline battles, elephant caravans, and tons more. Moria Safaris took great care of us and delivered on every single promise from the booking. They respected our request to have David Irafay as our driver-guide throughout the entire trip, he truly became a good friend of us and was always looking out for us. The food was consistently tasty and flavorful, and cold bottled water was always available.
My personal highlight? Nyani Campsite, where we could hear and see lions, hyenas, rare birds, and hippos right there. Super recommended!
