Best driver and important information
We had a 3 day safari trip to Masai Mara with Khalifa as the driver and Derick as an extra hand. The two of them were very polite, helpfull and did their best to give us a great trip, which they very much did. They went above and beyond in giving us the best experience.
When comparing our experience with the other vehicles we saw on the safari it was pretty clear that Khalifa and Derick were excellent at finding the animals, getting the best angles and definitely getting the closest. Being within 3 meters of a lion, cheetah, giant elephant and more is quite the experience. Khalifas experience in predicting the animals meant that we often got the best spot. And viewing the sun go down while watching a herd of elephants is a thing i will never forget.
Important knowledge of going on safari is, that you should make sure that your vehicle is a proper offroad vehicle, like a Toyota Landcruiser and not a minibus. But also note that some of the vehicles are in disrepair and therefore do not have 4 wheel drive. The vehicle you get determines if you can go off the path and get closer to the animals or have to stay on the path and use your binoculars. (Hint you definitely want to zoom through the plains and get closer to the animals)
However the most important thing to note is, that when it has rained the lesser vehicles get stuck. We had to help out a few times with people who were stuck, which was much preferred to being stuck ourselves. Unfortunately people from other safari agencies did get stuck and had to spend the night in their vehicle inside the park. As you can guess dining and toilet facilities are not the best when there are hungry Lions around.
Fortunately the vehicle from Axis Safari was well maintained and fully functional and Khalifa was a world class offroad driver. The vehicles used for Safari are not equipped with toolkits, winches or other typical rescue gear, and the help can be a long ways away so choosing a good vehicle and driver like with Axis is a very good choice.
I would definitely recommend going with Axis and if possible asking for Khalifa.

Good experience, good contact from the start, good driver! We had a great time!
Doing a safari tour with Axis Africa was great. We had good communication with the team from the start, as they are quick to answer.
Our driver Rodger, seemed very experienced, and was really helpful all the way. He knows what he's doing.
We chose " economical' for accomodations so it was simple but clean and good. Food was also simple but good. We followed what the program was saying. Only bad side : the optional parts (like renting a bike at Hell's gate) was more expensive that announced in the quote (15$ instead of 7$, plus 10$ dollar fee to get the bike inside the park).
Except for this detail we had a really good time and enjoy chosing Axis Africa!

Very nice tour, very good driver too.
Very good driver Rodgers, we learned a lot about Kenya thanks to him.
We enjoyed every safari, he takes a lot of time to be sure that we took all the picture we want and with the best angle.
Everything was awesome, maybe just few more information about the organisation could be helpfull.
Rodgers answered every questions that we had, and we spotted a lot of animals thanks to him.

Incredible Guides, and perfect mix of activities!
I chose the 7 day tour with Axis as a solo traveller. We were in Maasai Mara for 2 nights which is a mist do. Then while dropping off those on shorter length tours, we stopped off in Lake Naivasha for a boat tour. We then drove to Nakuru for one night and a morning game drive to see the rhinos. Then I went back to Naivasha for one night where I di the crescent island tour (needs to be done with boat tour), and cycled in Hell’s gate in the morning. The final 2 nights were in Amboseli, where you have an awesome elephant experience with Mount Kilomanjaro in the back. Each activity differed enough from the last to make the length of trip very worth it.
The first 4 days I had Dickson as my guide. He was brilliant and efficient. He made
his journeys in the Safari’s clear and was quick to listen to what we wanted to see the most. He also checked how I was during the duration of the trip which I appreciate as a type one diabetic.
For Hell’s Gate I had Daniel. I was alone for this part of the tour and it made it that much better. Daniel was a very kind and interestingnguide to talk to. He also made sure we both got the best quality bikes to enjoy the trip!
The last part of the trip was with Jack. What a pleasure. He really loves his job. He drove me for very long distances and it seemed he enjoyed it. He stuck perfectly to the times, and let me reallynspend time with each encounter rather than rushing to see as many things as pissible. This was perfect for the end of the trip because I had seen a lot of animals to that point.
All three of these guys had insane knowledge about the animals and the parks themselves. I had a lot of questions, some I was not expected answers, but all of them knew what they were talking about. I also appreciated how much they enjoy doingnwhat they are doing. They reacted to animal encounters as if it was their first time viewing them, they reallyndemonstrated how much they love their jon which made the trip that much more enjoyable. The trip wouldn’t have been the same without them.
I booked my tournwith Tabitha and she was cery helpful throughout. Shemade sure she contacted every accomodation to inform them about my medical requirements. Every enquiry I had was dealt with efficiently and I appreciated the speed in the responses.
I am so happy to have gone through eith this tour. Thank you to all that made it so special for me.

Best in the business!
It was one of our most memorable trips. Axis Safari helped us curate the entire safari perfectly. They have packages for all budgets and great plans. Their tour guides are amazing and poses great knowledge about the entire reserve. Great communication and very friendly. Food options alone can be better in terms quantity in camps. Our guide khalifa was amazing and fun to be with, he gave lot of insights about the animals and culture. Overall it was an amazing safari.
Perfect safari with 2 great guides
I will go straight to the point on why Axis is an incredible operator: the guides.
We had the pleaser to be with Rodger fort the first 2 days in Masai Mara, he was so nice, very professionnal, answering all the questions, so focus to make sure we didn’t miss an animal and making sure we could take greats pics.
Then we continued with Khalifa for the next 4 days. 20 years in the business and one the best guide you could wish for : very funny, always comes with good explanations, nice anecdotes! Very helpful with other guides.
When we tried to compare the operators it was tough because they all propose more or less the same programs and ranges of price.
But the fact that friends recommended them because of the guides made us chose them. In the end that is what will make your safari memorable.
Again thanks to these 2 guys!
