Great first safari!
My teenaged son and I traveled to Kenya for our first ever safari, and it was a wonderful experience! I did a ton of research beforehand, and Savannah Woods was one of the few operators that was able to give me everything that I was looking for and also fit our budget. They replied promptly and made any requested changes.
We did a three-day safari in the Maasai Mara with Kenneth as our guide. Ken was amazing and had 14 years of experience guiding all over Kenya. He had a great sense of humor and was happy to answer all of our questions, plus he was impressive at spotting animals and was a safe and considerate driver. We were able to see lions, a cheetah, a dozen elephants, and more zebras and wildebeest than you can count. A great first safari experience!

Best Safari!
Our first safari and visit to Kenya/Africa was an amazing and unforgettable experience. We contacted several safari companies and chose Savannah Woods Safari because we felt we could rely on Lucy, who very kindly responded to all of our questions and requests with great care and professionalism. Lucy and Josphat gave us safari souvenirs the day before our trip began, which already made the trip special.
Henry, our safari guide, made the experience truly exceptional. He constantly communicated with other guides and helped us find the animals we most wanted to see. Thanks to him, we were able to witness incredible wildlife, including lions—a family feeding on a buffalo and a mating couple—leopards emerging from the bush and walking toward us, as well as cheetahs, elephants, rhinos, and beautiful sunrise and sunset. The bush lunch under Henry’s favorite tree was one of the highlights of our trip!
We had a 5-day safari, starting from Maasai Mara and continuing to Lake Nakuru and Lake Naivasha. Lucy arranged everything and it became our lifetime experience!
Day 1: Departure from Nairobi, arrival in Maasai Mara, and an evening game drive (Accommodation: Sarova Mara Game Camp)
Day 2: Hot air balloon safari and a full-day game drive (Sarova Mara Game Camp)

A safari dream
Our safari adventure began when we contacted Savannah Woods Safari and from the very first message we knew we were in good hands. Lucy was absolutely fantastic throughout the entire process. She was incredibly responsive, patient, and helpful, answering all our questions and making sure every detail was taken care of. What impressed us most was that her support didn't stop once the trip started! She continued checking in and helping whenever needed, which gave us great peace of mind.
We chose a 6 days safari trip, covering Maasai Mara, Lake Nakuru and Amboseli, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable trips we have ever taken.
A huge part of that experience was thanks to our guide, Papa John. He is truly exceptional. His knowledge of the parks, wildlife and animal behaviour was remarkable, and his ability to spot animals was nothing short of incredible. Thanks to his expertise, we managed to see all of the Big Five, including a leopard, which many visitors never get to see. He always seemed to know exactly where to be and when, giving us amazing wildlife sightings and fantastic photo opportunities. Beyond that, he was friendly, professional, passionate about his work, and made every game drive enjoyable and exciting.
The Sopa Lodges were also excellent. The accommodations were comfortable, the food was delicious and varied, and the staff were warm, welcoming, and genuinely hospitable.
We would highly recommend this itinerary, Savannah Woods Safari and especially Papa John as a guide. If you're lucky enough to have him leading your safari, make sure you clear plenty of space on your phone or camera, you'll come home with hundreds of incredible photos and unforgettable memories!

Perfectly organized and unforgettable safari with an amazing team and guide!
We had an absolutely amazing experience on our safari from Nairobi to Masai Mara and Lake Nakuru! Everything was perfectly organized from beginning to end.
The hotels were beautiful, the food was great, and every person we met during the trip was incredibly kind and welcoming. A very special thank you to Lucy, who organized everything so perfectly. She always made me feel safe, was constantly checking in on us, and responded incredibly fast whenever we had questions or needed anything. Her communication and support throughout the whole trip were truly exceptional.
And of course, a huge thank you to our driver and guide, Kikitu — he was absolutely AMAZING! He had the best energy, gave us so much information, amazing tips, and made the whole experience even more special and fun. We always felt safe, comfortable, and well taken care of.
If you book this safari, definitely ask for Kikitu — he truly made our trip unforgettable! We saw incredible animals, enjoyed stunning landscapes, and created memories we will never forget.
We highly recommend this company 10000000% and would absolutely book with them again when we come back to Kenya!

Professional, friendly and knowledgeable
Brian was a great guide who has a lot of knowledge about the area and the animals.We felt at comfort and had a pleasant trip and drive to Amboselli. We stayed at Prato lodge and it was the best experience ever. Highly recommend.

Amboseli Tour - absolutely fantastic!!
I did a two-day tour from Nairobi to Amboseli.
What a fantastic experience!
I was very lucky in terms of the weather with a fantastic mountain and animal experience.
I went on a solo trip, and stayed in Ol Tokai Lodge, which was fully worth it.
My guide Antony absolutely deserves 5 stars - the tour was great!
I fully recommend this tour!

Simply amazing.
I have only praise for my experience with Savannah Woods Safaris. From the get go, Lucy and her team answered all my questions, made a really fair offer and accomodated any extra wishes I had. I booked a 4 day group tour to Masai Mara and Lake Nakuru with a short stop in Lake Nashiva. Our driver Robert was the best guide I could have wished for. He did everything to make sure we get to see all the animals in the park, and had so much background knowledge on the animals and parks. The accomodations were really great, food was ok and service was 10/10. Will never forget the memories made. Thank you for your professionalism and I will definitely come back for another Safari with you some day.

The driver was good and knowledgeable.
The safari was good, the vehicle was well maintained. Only bummer is they fill it with all 7 people and during Safari no-one wants to sit in the back seat as the view is limited.
Otherwise, we could see most of the big five except the rhino and buffalo

Amazing Solo Safari Experience at Amboseli!
I was looking for a tour to Amboseli when this operator popped up. They provided a clear quote with transparent fees and a detailed itinerary. It was a 2-day, 1-night stay at Ol Tukai Lodge — such a beautiful lodge with a great atmosphere! (Beware of the monkeys.)
Lucy was in constant communication, which made me feel safe and well taken care of throughout the tour, especially since I was traveling solo. The accommodation was great, and the food provided was good as well. I had the car all to myself, so it wasn’t crowded at all.
The game drive was fun. Anthony, my guide, was a fun and flexible guy. I also requested Lucy to arrange dinner at a local eatery before my flight, and had the best Nyama Choma!
Pro tip: Shop at the Ol Tukai Lodge gift shop first before heading to Goldfinch Curious Arts & Gallery. Some items, like caps and shirts, are cheaper at Ol Tukai — and you don’t have to haggle!
