Paid in Full, Vendors Unpaid- Please Stay Away
1/5

We are currently on our honeymoon safari in Kenya, and our experience with Kojuu Safaris has been an absolute nightmare.

We paid for our trip in full, yet after arriving we learned that nearly all vendors responsible for our accommodations and transportation had not been paid. We have been left dealing with uncertainty, disrupted travel arrangements, and the possibility of having to pay vendors ourselves for services we already paid Kojuu for.

Kojuu has acknowledged financial difficulties, inability to refund in a timely manner, and the situation remains unresolved.

This is completely unacceptable. Travelers should not have to worry about being stranded or paying twice for a trip they already purchased.

Please stay away from Kojuu Safaris. I would not trust this company with my money or my vacation.

Wonderful trip with Kojuu!
5/5

When we first started to plan for our safari trip, the amount of available choices was quite overwhelming. I wanted to find a locally owned tour operator and not a booking agency that subcontracts the actual tour to a different company. With Kojuu, we found exactly what we were looking for.

Prior to contacting Kojuu, I had done a fair bit of research on the possible itinerary and the types of places we would potentially like to stay at. After sending an email to inquire, I heard back from Losim who was tour consultant and handle all the planning and communication before the trip. I provided him with my ideas and he was extremely helpful in providing his own feedback, making some suggestions as well as pricing out the various options. Losim also arranged a video call with us to truly understand what we were looking for in this trip and ensure our expectations were met with our planned intinerary. This allowed us to design the perfect 10 day tour with them for September 2026.

As part of my research process, I also had reached out two two other tour operators about similar intineraries and it was clear that Kojuu offered the best value as well as had the best communication during this process.

Prior to our trip, we had some unpexcted changes to our international flights which required some minor modifications to our intinerary. Losim was extremely responsive in helping us make these changes. In addition to this, during our inbound flight, there was a delay meaning we would arrive in Kilimanjaro later than expected and we easily coordinated via whatsapp to ensure Kojuu was aware of our new arrival time. Once in Arusha, Losim met with us to go over the itinarary once more, answer any questions we had and ensure we were ready to enjoy our trip. Big thanks to him as he also checked in with us during our trip to ensure everything was going smoothly!

We were picked up by our guide Patrick who was simply outstanding. Extremely knowledgable, professional and just a fun man to be with during our trip. He used his experience and instincts to allow us to find all kinds of amazing moments. We of course saw all of the big 5, as well as the great migration crossing the mara river. In addition to these highlights, Patrick was also excellent in finding great moments, often with no other vehicles around us. We saw a new born baby elephant just a couple weeks old learning to navigate the terrain of the Serengeti, a large pride of lions resting in the morning under the rising sun, And so much more. Patrick shared with us his extensive knowledge about the animals, the birds, the local environment which helped us futher appreciate everything we were seeing. He also is a funny guy with a great sense of humor!

We had just a wonderul trip and we would highly recommend Kojuu who took great care of us from start to finish.

Our safari is very well arranged by kojuu.

Our guide Leonard was nice professional very knowledgeable and helpful in all perspectives.

Memorable
5/5

After researching several safari companies, we were very happy that we chose Kojuu Safaris. As a locally owned company, they provided a private, 10-day mid-luxury safari for three senior travelers that exceeded our expectations.
Our sales contact, Julian, listened patiently to our many requests and preferences throughout the planning process. He met us the day before our safari began and welcomed us with a dozen roses, Kojuu t-shirts, and hats before conducting a detailed briefing. This meeting helped us fully understand our itinerary, which included Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, and the Central and Northern Serengeti. Julian also arranged special birthday celebrations at each of our four lodges, making the trip even more memorable. We stayed at Elephant Springs and the Four Seasons Serengeti, both of which were outstanding, along with two other lodges.
I highly recommend arriving at least two days before starting your safari. After a very long flight from the United States, this extra time allows you to adjust and recover. Jackson, in town driver, met us at Kilimanjaro International Airport and was always punctual, professional, and a joy to spend time with. During one of those extra days, we took a fascinating tour of a coffee plantation where we learned about the organic production of coffee, bananas, and vanilla. It was a wonderful experience.
On our third day, we met our private driver and guide, Humphrey, who accompanied us throughout the entire safari. His genuine passion for Tanzania, its wildlife, and its culture greatly enhanced our understanding and appreciation of the country. Humphrey was incredibly patient with our many questions and requests. We never felt rushed, and he always seemed to know exactly where to go to observe wildlife while respecting the animals and their environment. One of my top priorities was avoiding crowded wildlife sightings, and thanks to Humphrey, we rarely encountered other safari vehicles.
I cannot emphasize enough how important Humphrey was to the success of our trip. His enthusiasm is infectious, and he is an exceptional driver. The roads, often referred to as the "African massage," are rocky, unpaved, and far more challenging than I had imagined. Humphrey drove hundreds of miles safely and confidently. During our long game drives, he continually found incredible wildlife, including four lion prides, cheetahs, zebras, elephants, giraffes, and countless other animals.
One of the highlights of our trip was an unforgettable hot-air balloon ride over the Northern Serengeti, where we witnessed the Great Migration. September was the perfect time to visit, and seeing the vast landscape filled with thousands of animals was truly breathtaking.
I wholeheartedly recommend Kojuu Safaris and especially suggest requesting Humphrey as your guide. He is kind, patient, highly knowledgeable, and deeply passionate about both the wildlife and culture of Tanzania. This safari was memorable beyond our expectations and a trip we will treasure forever.

Dear Guest,

Thank you so very much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful, vivid, and heartfelt review of your 10-day safari with us!

As a locally owned Tanzanian company, our greatest privilege is creating deeply personal journeys that allow our guests to truly connect with the beauty and warmth of our country. Hearing how much care went into your experience—from Julian’s pre-safari briefing, welcoming gifts, and birthday surprises at the lodges, to Jackson’s smooth airport transfers and the organic coffee plantation tour—brings our entire team tremendous joy. Taking those couple of extra days to rest after a long flight from the US is such wonderful advice for future travelers, too.

We are especially moved by your high praise for Humphrey. Navigating the rough bush roads with such skill and composure while ensuring your sightings were intimate, ethical, and free from crowds is a true art. From four lion prides and cheetahs to the unforgettable Northern Serengeti balloon ride over the Great Migration, it sounds like an absolute dream itinerary. Humphrey is truly exceptional, and he will be so proud to know how much his patience, knowledge, and infectious enthusiasm meant to you.

Thank you for trusting Kojuu Safaris with such a special milestone celebration. We treasure your kind recommendation and would be honored to welcome you back to Tanzania anytime.

Exceptional!
5/5

Our 10-Day Great Migration Safari – Mid Luxury Tour with Kojuu Safaris was nothing short of awe-inspiring. The itinerary covered Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, the Central Serengeti, and the Northern Serengeti, and the pacing was perfect. We never felt rushed, and our guide adjusted pickup and return times based on our preferences — a level of flexibility we truly appreciated as seniors.

Prior to starting our game drives, we chose to have two extra days in Arusha to acclimate to Tanzania’s time zone and enjoyed a fascinating tour of a local coffee plantation. We also opted in for a hot-air balloon ride over the Mara River, which allowed us to witness herds of wildebeest and zebras migrating from above — along with unforgettable views of hippos in the river below.

Our guide, Humphrey, was absolutely exceptional! His knowledge of the terrain, wildlife, and bird species was remarkable, and his genuine love for Tanzania — its people, animals, land, and culture — shone through every day. He was considerate, personable, and knew the roads in each park like the back of his hand.

The wildlife sightings were extraordinary: a pride of lions resting after a fresh buffalo kill, a cheetah eating a gazelle, countless elephants, giraffes, zebras, and much more. Our safari vehicle was reliable and always stocked with drinks and snacks, making every game drive comfortable.

Kojuu Safaris also arranged a visit to a Maasai tribespeople’s village, where we joined in traditional dancing, stepped inside a dwelling, and purchased beautiful jewelry and wood carvings made by the women of the tribe.

All accommodations were lovely, with our two nights at the Four Seasons Safari Lodge being exceptional!

Kojuu Safaris delivered a truly unforgettable experience — professional, thoughtful, and deeply connected to the land. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

We are thrilled that the pacing and flexibility suited your travel rhythm so well. As a local operator, we believe the best safari experiences are unhurried, comfortable, and tailored to our guests' personal preferences—especially when taking in vast landscapes across Tarangire, Ngorongoro, and both Central and Northern Serengeti.

The moments you experienced sound absolutely magical: floating above the Mara River watching the herds and river hippos from the balloon, encountering active predator sightings like the lion pride and cheetah, and spending meaningful time with the Maasai community. We are also glad that taking those two acclimation days in Arusha set such a relaxed tone for the rest of your adventure, right through to your luxurious stay at the Four Seasons.

Professional
5/5

I recently did the an 8 day Kilimanjaro tour via the lemosho route with Kojuu safaris. All bookings and contact were from Australia and the service and assistance was seamless. I am 70 years old and the guides and porters provided by Kojuu were excellent. Their confidence and encouragement enabled me to reach the summit. The airport transfers at the beginning and end of the trip, even at 2.30am was faultless.
I have no hesitation in giving Kojuu Safaris 5 stars. If you have to chance to get a guide named Omary Mduli, take it!!

Dear Guest,

A massive congratulations to you from all of us at Kojuu Safaris on summiting Mount Kilimanjaro! Reaching the Roof of Africa at 70 years old via the 8-day Lemosho Route is a truly remarkable achievement, and we are so deeply honored to have been part of your journey.

Planning an expedition from Australia across time zones can come with its own set of challenges, so we are thrilled that our communication and arrangements felt completely seamless—right down to your 2:30 AM airport transfers.

Our mountain crew, porters, and lead guides pour their hearts into keeping our climbers safe, motivated, and supported every step of the way. Omary Mduli is truly an exceptional guide whose calm confidence and leadership inspire everyone on the trail, and we cannot wait to share your generous tribute with him and the entire crew.

Fantastic and reliable
5/5

My wife and I have just finished our 8-day safari in Tanzania, and we couldn’t be happier with our experience.

Choosing Kojuu was actually not a difficult decision. Among all the safari operators we contacted, Jesca, our consultant at Kojuu, was the only one who took the time to carefully answer all of our questions and pay attention to every detail.

My wife and I are very used to traveling independently as a couple, so before starting our safari, we were honestly a little anxious about what it would be like to have a guide traveling with us throughout the entire journey.

But our guide, Hija, was absolutely amazing. He was not only incredibly friendly and easy to get along with, but also took excellent care of us throughout the trip. His knowledge of wildlife, combined with his passion, patience, and dedication to finding animals during the safari, truly made our experience so much more enjoyable and memorable.

If you are reading this review while planning your Tanzania safari, I can honestly say that Kojuu is a fantastic and reliable safari operator. And Hija is an absolutely wonderful guide! I would highly recommend asking for him if you have the opportunity.

I wouldn’t say that a safari is necessarily a once-in-a-lifetime experience, because I know for sure that I will come back to Tanzania again in the future. And when I do, I will definitely choose Kojuu again.

A huge thank you to Hija, Jesca, and the entire Kojuu team. Everything about our trip to Tanzania was simply perfect!

Thank you so very much for taking the time to share such a lovely and encouraging review of your 8-day Tanzania safari with us!

We completely understand the hesitation independent travelers often feel about sharing an entire journey with a guide. That is why it brings our whole team immense joy to know that Hija made you feel so comfortable and at ease right away. His warm personality, patience, and tireless dedication to tracking wildlife are truly special, and we will be proud to pass along your heartfelt praise to him.

Jesca will also be delighted to read your kind words. She takes great pride in making sure every question is answered and every detail is tailored to perfection from the very first email.

We especially love what you said about safari not being a "once-in-a-lifetime" experience—Tanzania has a magical way of calling travelers back, and we would be thrilled to welcome you and your wife back into the wild whenever you are ready for your next adventure.

Amazing Trip with Kojuu Safaris
5/5

We’re wrapping up our last night here in Tanzania, and wanted to write this while it’s all still fresh. This has been an incredible trip with Kojuu Safaris. Glory planned the entire trip and was very responsive throughout the entire process.

Leonard was our guide and he truly made the trip. We were impressed with his knowledge of the parks and the animals, and he knew how to be in the right place at the right time. Thanks to him, we got to see the wildebeest crossing the Mara River and a group of cheetah cubs — two moments that will stay with us for a long time. We also noticed how Leonard would stop to help other drivers along the way whenever he saw someone in trouble, which said a lot about the kind of person he is.

Accommodation wise, Glory had suggested Envi Sisini to us for Central Serengeti and it was a highlight in itself — such a great place to relax after a full day out in the parks. Also, the Miracle balloon ride over the Northern Serengeti was well worth it. Watching the plains wake up at sunrise from above, with animals scattered across the landscape, is an experience that’s hard to put into words.

We’ll definitely be back, and when we do, we will for sure be booking with Kojuu Safaris and asking for Leonard to be our guide again.

Dear Guest,

Thank you so very much for taking the time on your final evening in Tanzania to write such a thoughtful and vivid review!

We are thrilled that your safari was such an incredible adventure from start to finish. Glory will be delighted to know that her responsive planning and lodge recommendation—especially Envi Sisini—made your stay in the Central Serengeti feel so special and relaxing. Floating over the Northern Serengeti with Miracle Experience at sunrise is truly pure magic, and we are so glad you got to witness that breathtaking view.

Most of all, your kind words about Leonard mean the world to us. Catching the Mara River crossing and spotting cheetah cubs are absolute bucket-list sightings, but what touches our hearts most is your note about his readiness to stop and help fellow drivers in the bush. That camaraderie, kindness, and respect reflect the true spirit of our team and Tanzanian hospitality. We will be sure to celebrate his efforts with him!

Safe travels on your journey back home. We cannot wait to welcome you back to Tanzania for your next adventure with Leonard and Kojuu Safaris!

A truly amazing experience
5/5

We have recently completed an absolutely amazing safari with Kojuu. Janeth at Kojuu has been an amazing agent for us. She has dealt with every request and question I have asked. She adapted the booking several times to account for my requests.
Our driver guide, Armstrong, was such a wealth of knowledge and amazing at getting us to see everything we could have possibly wanted, and thinks we didn't know we wanted to see.
The holiday itself was an experience my wife and I've will never forget.
I would have no hesitation at all to recommend Kojuu, and particularly Janeth, to anyone.
