Great Serengeti + Ngorongoro Safari with Kiliclimb
We had a fantastic 4-day safari with Kiliclimb Africa Safaris covering Central Serengeti, Northern Serengeti, and Ngorongoro Crater. Communication was excellent from start to finish, they were very responsive on WhatsApp both before and during the trip, which made planning and any day-of questions easy.
Our guide, Lucky, was fantastic, knowledgeable, attentive, and made sure we had a great experience throughout. We saw the Big Five plus plenty of other wildlife, and the camps/lodges along the route were genuinely good, comfortable, well-located, and well cared for.
The only hiccup was our jeep breaking down a couple of times during the trip, but the team handled it well and made sure we still got to every destination without losing out on the itinerary. Minor inconvenience, but it didn't take away from the overall experience.
Overall, a well-run, communicative, and safe operation. Would recommend to anyone looking for a Serengeti/Ngorongoro safari.

High class.
We are stoked.
We just climbed Kilimanjaro to the peak, & it was a peak experience for my new wife & I.
This is our honeymoon trip, & we couldn’t be happier.
I’m from Australia, & I’ve never done any hiking like this before. I’ve never owned hiking boots, thermal layered clothes, or a puffer jacket.
I’m letting you know that if you’re a generally fit person, you can get up this mountain. (You will need those layers & clothes though).
The most genius thing I noticed our guides - Samwell & Freddy - doing, was sticking to the rule of “poley poley - slowly slowly.”
We walked in single file behind 1 of the guides at all times. Small steps. None of our group had major acclimatisation sickness at all. No one vomited. And I really think it’s because we were moving deliberately slow, so we can stay in the game until the end. (We did also take the acclimatisation pills of course. Half at brekky, half at lunch).
We took Machame route - which is 7 days total. It’s not the easiest route. It’s a fun one, & feels like the right amount of time to acclimatise.
The meals were amazing. More food than I expected, & to a higher standard than I assumed. My wife & I are vegetarian, & the chef - Paulo - didn’t miss a beat with making us enough beans, rice, oats, vegetables, fruit, eggs, even veggie pizza that my partner said is “the best pizza she’s ever had.” And we were 4000 meters high, & porters had carried the ingredients up that mountain for us.
Paulo if you’re reading this. You’re 1 in a million. We miss your smile. If you open a restaurant, we’re flying here to visit. (We hope your wife finds out that you can cook one day 😉).
Jonathan served us every day. He was our morning alarm, gently saying “Habari za asubuhi,” & bringing us tea or hot chocolate in bed every morning. They call it “beddi tea.”
He heated water for us & brought it to us every morning, & every evening.
We thought we were going to use wet wipes all week, so this was a blessing. (Remember to bring a quick-dry towel).
Jonathan even came to the peak with us on summit day, bringing extra water, tea, & biscuits.
Seriously, what a human being.
Big thing: There was a portable toilet.
Are you serious, Dan, I hear you saying. Yes. Jeremiah carried a portable toilet on his head, with a little tent that goes around it, for the whole 7 days so that we had a private place to go to the bathroom.
Again, this was unexpected, & relieving.
Now, tips. In Australia we’re not a tipping culture, so I was shocked when I found out that tipping money is EXPECTED as part of the process. To me, I’m like, “The employer should pay the staff,” but I’ve come to understand the culture of cash, & how far this money can go for community here. I know that we’ve just paid the school fees for a lot of family members of our porters that went up.
Every porter & guide has stories about funding their way through school by going up the mountain as a porter when they could. Or paying for their brother, sister, niece, nephew etc.
And the calculations for the tips were shocking to us. It basically doubled the price of the trip.
Guys, pay it. They’re worth every penny. Just calculate it into the budget. When you see what these guys do for you, you’ll want to give it.
We were 3 people (our new friend Maggie from Germany was also with us).
And that means we needed 13 porters, 2 guides, & 1 chef. A lot of people.
The WEIGHT determines the amount of porters. A porter is only allowed 20kg on their heads (not including their own backpack). That’s food, water, tents, toilet, & more.
We highly advise getting to know your porters by name. They’re a blessing. I had a notepad in my pocket all week, & started writing names, & lyrics to Swahili songs from the start.
- Kili Climb songs more than every other crew on the mountain. It was a vibe. We weee part of it. Always singing. I genuinely think the songs got me up the mountain.
It gave my mind something to focus on.
Pasco, thank you for being such a great camp manager, singer, & friend.
Noeli, young Sam, Christian, Riziki, thank you for being smiley & bringing that happy young excited spirit to the camp.
Baraka, Daniel, Abdullah, Sudi, Abraham, thank you for being strong like lions nguvu kama simba all week. You made it look seamless, the way you’d carry anything & run, made me feel like if there was an emergency, you could save the day without breaking a sweat.
I’m beyond impressed.
I already have friends asking me if I’d do it again, because they’d like to do it, but not alone. So I do think I’ll be coming back one day.
I felt your love before you guys even said it. And when we cried at the top of the mountain, & said that we love you, we meant it then, & we still hold that love for you now & forever.
Thank you a thousand times. We didn’t know how special this would be. 🙏🏼

Very communicative, great experience, lovely hotels and good food.
Very good value for money. Seen some incredible animals. Communications were good. Our driver was great. We were a group of 6 and had one solo traveller join us which meant someone had to go in the front seat which had a restricted view. We found out later in the trip that the roof to the front could also be opened which would have been good to know on the first day. The food was excellent and consisted of chicken, rice and pasta and some vegetables. I cannot comment on the Materuni waterfalls as we have been asked to write this review before that part of the trip has been completed.

Kiliclimb Africa Safaris makes Kilimanjaro feel like home!
My experience with Kiliclimb Africa Safaris was absolutely amazing. I hiked to the peak of Mt. Kilimanjaro via the Machame route in 7 days in a group of 3 people. My point of contact, Laura, was extremely helpful while planning logistics before and after the hike and made sure I had all the information I needed throughout the booking process. She was flexible with my budget and availability, catering a whole hike according to my specifications. She responded quickly to my booking requests and provided detailed responses to my questions about the hike. Our lead guide on the hike, Samwell, and our assistant guide, Freddy, were very knowledgeable about the terrain we would be climbing and kept a perfect pace throughout the 7 days. The crew also has first aid training, so they were able to help us if we had any medical issues during our hike. I did not do any training before the hike and the pace was perfect for me. We were also supported by a wonderful group of porters who made us feel like part of a family. Paulo, the chef, cooked delicious food to keep our energy up over the course of 7 days. He also catered the menu to our specific dietary needs so we would be comfortable. Jonathan, the waiter, made sure we were comfortable in our campsite at all times and truly went above and beyond his duties to make us feel welcome. Pascal had so much energy and made every campsite feel like a party. Jeremia carried our camp toilet (not an easy feat) but always had a big smile on his face. Baraka, who carried my duffel bag throughout the hike, made sure my tent was a home away from home. A big thanks to Abraham, Abdalah, Joseph, Daniel, Noel, Sudi, Samwell Matiya, Riziki and Christian for working tirelessly behind the scenes to make our hike successful and fun. My legs may be a bit sore now, but the crew behind this hike makes me want to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro with them as soon as possible!

The perfect tour
We recently completed a 4-day/3-night shared safari covering Tarangire, Central Serengeti, and the Ngorongoro Crater with Kiliclimb Africa Safaris, and the entire experience was beyond expectations.
From our departure in Arusha, the logistics were completely seamless. The 4x4 pop-up roof safari vehicle was in top mechanical condition, comfortable, and well-equipped with charging ports and cold drinks throughout the drives.
Our driver-guide was outstanding: deeply knowledgeable about wildlife behavior, highly professional, patient, and with an incredible eye for spotting animals. We felt safe at all times, and his respect for the national parks and wildlife was truly commendable.
The accommodations were fantastic. Sleeping at Shuhudia Adventure Camp inside the Central Serengeti, surrounded by the true sounds of the African bush and hearing lions roar in the distance, was an absolute highlight of our trip. Jua Manyara Lodge and Ngorongoro Wild Camp were equally comfortable, clean, and welcoming.
Special thanks to Naite, Moses, and the Kiliclimb team for their great communication and flawless organization from day one. We highly recommend Kiliclimb Africa Safaris to anyone planning their dream trip to Tanzania!
