Akira Safaris was born from a simple truth: the most meaningful travel happens when you’re guided not just through a place, but into its heart, by people who call it home.
Our story didn’t start in an office.
It started on our couch.
It grew from the Couchsurfing spirit and the generosity of “Host A Sister”. We opened our Nairobi home, shared meals, stories, and laughter. Before long, guests kept asking the same question:
“Can you show us the Africa you know?”
What began as informal weekend road trips into the Maasai Mara became a calling. We watched first-time travellers fall silent at sunrise, stare in disbelief at their first elephant encounter, and feel the stillness of the Rift Valley. In those moments, we knew we had to create a bridge for more people to experience Africa this way.
Today, Akira Safaris is that bridge.
We are a locally owned, guide-led safari company that has scaled genuine hospitality into expertly crafted private journeys. We reject conveyor-belt tourism. Instead, we offer human-led exploration built on one promise:
