Low cost, excellent value
5/5

My girlfriend and I booked with Meru Slopes. They were the cheapest option, with the better reviews. They organised everything for us. They include pick ups and drop offs from Arusha or Kilimanjaro airport within the cost. We got a hotel stay before and after the safari. Rooms were great.
Safari - On time for pick up. Driver/guide is cautious on the rough roads, so always felt safe. Tents the same as every other tour company around. Food was excellent!! Guide was not the most knowledgeable, but there were some books to look through, and did well spotting things. No real complaints. Meru gave a gift also after the tour. If you are planning on doing this trip, and want to do it by tent, then I see no reason for not using Meru Slopes, as why pay more for the same (or worse) service.

Great guide and best price across the board
5/5

The safari was great, the driver/guide - Julius - was an experienced man. We had a perfectly timed pick-up at the airport (cost is $20 by taxi), price included hotel night before and after the safari, aswell as drop off to the airport at the end (again $20 saved)

I would recommend 10/10 - just be warned that tent safari can prove to be exhausting !

The best choice we made.
5/5

Meru Slopes Tours and Safari was a wonderful experience for us. We were a group of 6 and we did a 5 days Safari and it was a pleasant experience. It was a last minutes decision due to problems with other companies, yet our expectations were surpassed. They communicate quite well, they are courteous and professional. We got a wonderful deal, half of what most companies offered us, the tents and lodges were beyond expectations and I believe we had the best tour guide, driver and chef. Ask for Hilarry as your driver and guide, and Saleem as your chef, they are the best combinations. Oh, they also give you two free nights in Arusha to prepare for the Safari and unwind afterwards. They will guide you through Arusha and fetch you from either airports. On our end, they had no flaws and we plan to do it again. I highly recommend contacting them before you commit to other companies. Also this is a local company, booking with them will feed many mouths in a country as beautiful as Tanzania.

Good experience - recommend.
5/5

I was a little concerned to make a 15% deposit to someone I'd never met but it all worked out fine. This is the best value safari I could find and the fact that it included the nights before and after the safari in Arusha is a massive plus. I was with two couples who booked through other providers and paid different (larger) amounts of money. It's like the provider you book with doesn't matter too much as you often seem to end up in mixed groups of different tour operators.

Anyway the trip: august is a little cloudy so hear that in mind, and it's quite cold at higher altitudes. But it's still an incredible experience. I went to Ngorogoro, Serengeti and Manyara. Lake Manyara is pretty over crowded so I would say prioritise spending more time in the other parks. Cook really good (how he made such good food on one gas stove i'll never know) and guide very knowledgeable, with the right answer to every animal question. Organisation was slightly disorganised in the sense that noone knew if we had sleeping bags etc but it all worked out in the end. Very grateful to Geofrey and the others for an excellent trip.

Advice: the roads are atrocious in the Serengeti (just fyi, expect a spinal massage). Pack really warm stuff for Ngorogoro. 5 nights is about right given the amount of time to drive to Serengeti from Arusha. Any less and you would risk not seeing everything, and more and you might be safari'd out. It's difficult to see rhino at the moment (heard different explanations e.g. illness, dry season).

Great 5-days Safari!
5/5

We went on a 5-days group safari across Serengeti (2 nights),Ngorongoro and Manyara, and it was already an amazing experience. As low-budget travellers, we found Meru Slopes was the best deal in terms of value for money. The communication with Geofrey before our arrival was smooth and everything was perfect by the time we arrived. We very much appreciated that airport pick up and the two nights before and after the safari were included in the tour fees. It definitely made our life easier! The tour guide, food and time management were excellent considering what we paid. We definitely recommend it to anyone who is open for camping and has a low budget but don't want to give it up with the stunning parks Tanzania has to offer!

The communication with Geoffrey went really smooth. He explained everything to me so it absolutely met my expectations. The tour itself was very well organized with lovely food and great people. Unfortunately we missed the rhino.

Well organised and excellent service with very goog guide and cook
5/5

We were in safe hands with Geoffrey and his staff. Our guide Hillary knew his stuff and gave us an excellent safari experience.
We had a lot of very valuable tips from other users and would like to emphasise the following:
. The guides can be very busy juggling things so it is worthwhile always clarifying with them things like what time and where exactly everyone is meeting up that day, whether you need to pack up your things first thing in the morning, etc
. If you can, take a good set of binoculars- while the guide had one it is not enough when it matters.
. Take toilet paper and mosquito repellant
. While sleeping bags are provided the quality is a lottery - some are thin and on some the zipper doesn't work. We suggest taking a sleeping bag inner, which doesn't take up much space.
. Plenty of water is provided so you do not need to stock up beforehand.
. You can recharge phones and cameras in the vehicle, which we found particularly useful.

Good organization, good guide, fantastic places
5/5

We selected a 4 days camping tour with the vist of Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro. This solution was one of the cheapest, but the quality of the tour was good.
Regarding the organization, they pick-up us at the airport even if we arrived at 1.30 AM, and at the end of the tour they arrange for us the transfer to Moshi.
Our guide was young and friendly and perfect for young group as ours.
During the safari we woke-up early in the morning (5.30-6.00) and saw more animals without the congestion of other cars.
