8 day Private Safari
5/5

Meru Slopes - 8-day Serena experience package ☆☆☆☆☆

We had Juma as our driver and couldn't rate him highly enough. He got us into the best places for the best photos, even staying longer than other cars for us to watch the animals, he also gave us the flexibility of start times and what to do each day. You tell Juma what you want and he'll cater for it. He answered our questions about all sorts of topics and was very informative each time. He got us back to the hotel / destination at the best times of day or if we were late it was for good reason to see more animals, which we had specifically asked for. The car had WiFi, electric to charge the phones and camera if necessary, a well stocked fridge (plenty of water, coca cola, wine and beer) and a lift up roof, typical for all land cruisers, for the best viewing abilities but also incredibly safe - like watching elephants walk past the back of the car the same height as you stood up viewing through the top.

Meru Slopes were quick to respond with our initial enquiries and communicated well via WhatsApp in the lead up to the trip. Leonard and the team happily confirmed payment for us as we were paying internationally and were very understanding when it took a few days for the money to wire via multiple international banks. The team arranged hotel/airport transfers for the first and last days and Leonard met us at our hotel the evening before the tour and gave us a full briefing, confirmed the itinerary etc and then again on the last evening to ensure we had a good overall trip.

We specifically booked the Serena package as it gave us very well priced access to Tarangire National Park, the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro crater. We saw all of the Big 5 on multiple occasions across the locations and so much more. Whilst that's not always guaranteed (especially for Leopards and Black Rhino) Juma was listening on the radio and searching all the time for us to see them and it paid off - more than once! The four Serena hotels/lodges were as expected from the photos and reviews seen online, with us rating the Serengeti Lodge the best of the four, but all have their each unique qualities. Make the most of the heated pool in Lake Manyara though!

Excellent organisation and meticulous planning
5/5

Jerome Hotti, is very helpful answering all our questions before we came, and met us on the first day of our safari. He organised our pick up from airport, and with hotel to hold onto our cases until we got back for our onward journey.
We meet our guide/driver Bryson Mchau who was a very good driver completely safe, who gave us information about the areas and the animals, knew exactly where to go and got information on the radio what was going on. Bryson could spot animals way off, whilst driving. The safari jeep was equipped with wifi enabling us to keep in touch also WhatsApping live video to our family. It was also equipped with a fridge which was kept stocked with drinks. We went to the Tarangire national Park first, great place saw loads of animals, then onto Serengeti national Park and Northern Seregeti, where we saw the wilderbeast crossing the Mara mara River great sight loads of animals crossing. Also did balloon flight which Jerone organised too. It was perfect. We also visited the Ngorongoro Crater, a large area with Rhino. At every park you have washrooms so you can stop and go to the loo, they have picnic areas to have lunch and all the lodges supply lunch. All the lodges were great but we especially enjoyed the tented lodge, with wilderbeast and zebra wondering all around our tent and we could hear the lions at night. Food really good here, thanks to Sarah the chef.
Throughout our visit we saw Lions, male, female and cubs. Cheetahs, Leopards, Rhinos, Elephants, Water buffalos, Giraffes, Hippopotami, Warthogs, Crocodiles, Zebras, Wilderbeast, Hyenas as well as many birds and other smaller animals.
The roads in the parks are bumpy but you don't mind as seeing the animals, but the roads to get to the parks are very dusty and bumpy.

Great
5/5

We communicated with Jerome before and during the trip; the communication was excellent from start to finish—simply a delight!

We took the 6-day trip with our guide, Godlisten, as part of a group of six—starting with a safari and followed by tribal tours.

Godlisten created a safe, fun, and welcoming atmosphere. He was always smiling, calm, and reassuring; he truly cared about everyone’s well-being, constantly checking if we needed anything, and we shared plenty of laughs together. He always prioritized our safety and was completely transparent with us wherever we went, including during the tribal visits. Throughout the safari, he taught us so much about the animals and their nature. He made us feel comfortable asking anything, always maintaining a pleasant and positive vibe.
It exceeded all our expectations; the experience was amazing. He ensured we lacked nothing, and his guiding was superb.
The chef’s food was also a perfect 10 out of 10.
Outstanding service—we highly recommend it to everyone.
Noa and Raz.

Excellent value for money and everything was organised perfectly by Leonard
5/5

Every single thing about our safari was perfectly organised by Leonard.
The safari was amazing, our driver Nickson was so knowledgable about all the animals and Bongey our cook produced excellent food and even made special dishes for my vegetarian wife.
The amount of animals we saw surpassed my expectations and that was all down to Nickson our guide. He got us to places to take the perfect photo.
All in all I would definitely recommend Meru Slopes for a safari!

Extremely accommodating, made our experience incredible.
5/5

I would highly recommend Meru Slop Tours & Safaris for your Safari tour! Everything from housing to food was well planned out, even when we had time constraints with flights. There was not a single hiccup throughout the entire trip.

I also highly recommend our tour guide John. He was knowledgable and experienced, and we were able to see and understand animals that we wouldn't have captured otherwise without him. He was sweet and patient when it came to our questions as well. He made our experience a lot more personal.

Overall, it was an incredible choice.

Simply Extraordinary
5/5

We spent seven incredible days touring four national parks in Tanzania's north - Tarangire, the Serengeti, the Ngorongoro Crater, and Lake Manyara with Meru Slopes Tours and Safaris. There were early starts and some very big days, it was often hot and dusty, and the roads were rough, but we relished every single minute of our safari and cannot recommend it highly enough. If I could have given our experience six stars out of five, I would.

We’ve all watched African wildlife documentaries on TV and 'seen' the animals. But it is hard to describe the emotional punch of actually being there. Of seeing, hearing, and experiencing wild Tanzania. Of coming round a bend in the road and finding a herd of elephants foraging beside you, and to hear how quietly these huge animals move through dense bush. To witness a massive giraffe sway gracefully across the road, step behind a tall acacia and literally disappear. To see vast areas of a lake turned cherry-blossom pink by huge flocks of flamingo. To watch a hyena feeding on a limb stolen from a recent lion kill and to actually hear the crunching of bones as she wolfs down her meal. To gaze at critically endangered Black Rhinos living wild. Or to experience the drama and intense emotion of the Great Migration as a thousand wildebeest pour across the Mara River - accompanied by panicked braying, stampeding of hooves, splashing, and palls of dust - while you sit urging them on. All extraordinary and incredibly moving experiences, and so much 'bigger' than what you see on TV.

It's also hard to describe the scale of things. The immenseness of the magnificent, 'endless' Serengeti; the massive power of a big male lion and the speed with which he can move; the towering height of an adult giraffe; and the sheer number of zebra and wildebeest, circling the Serengeti and Maasai-Mara on their never-ending journey to follow the rains and fresh grass. It is truly astonishing.

Our seven-day safari gave us the time needed to travel through different environments and to have the opportunity to see so many different birds and animals (including some less expected species such as ostriches, a jackal, a (fabulous) Leopard Tortoise, Crowned Cranes, and a group of mongoose). Meru Slopes provided a wonderful service, and we felt very well looked after from start to finish. We traveled in a 'private' (just the two of us and our guide) purpose-built 4WD, and stayed in ‘tented’ safari camps located within the parks (and an occasional town-based lodge). We particularly loved the safari camps. The staff were amazing; the food delicious; and our 'rooms' were immaculate, beautifully presented, and very comfortable with everything we could possibly need. Lunch was usually provided by the previous night's accomodation and was eaten in picnic areas within the parks along with drinks from the well-stocked fridge in our 4WD - fabulous! Thanks to Jerome from Meru Slopes for organising our safari so well and for taking the time to brief us and also meet with us after our tour: we really appreciated it.

Last but definitely not least: - We felt so lucky to see all we did, but realise we were even luckier to have been under the care of our wonderful guide, Ombeni, who made it all possible. His knowledge, skill, and expertise were beyond exceptional, and he worked tirelessly - day in and day out - to make our time in Tanzania simply extraordinary. Asante sana, Ombeni - it was a joy to see the animals with you and we're so grateful for everything you did for us.

Great Experience with Meru Slopes
5/5

In August we went on a seven-day Safari with the company Meru Slopes. We first went to Tarangire National Park, before driving to the Serengeti National Park. The last stop was the Ngorongoro Crater, before we got back to Arusha.
All in all, there is to say that it was an unforgettable experience! We got to see all the animals we wanted to and more! Our guide Francis led us safely through the rough paths of the national parks and made sure our experience was perfect. When we didn’t get to see the Mara River Crossing on the day we were supposed to, he went out of his way to ensure we tried again the next day and we actually got to see the river crossing! He did a great job and we can definitely recommend going on a Safari with him.
The lodges were also mostly flawless and the service was impeccable. Everyone was extremely friendly and welcoming and made sure we felt comfortable at all times.
We also had a contact person in Arusha, Leonard, who organized everything we needed besides the Safari, like transport from and to the airport and when we contacted him via Whatsapp we always got an answer almost instantaneously.
The whole Safari trip was meticulously planned and safely executed by Meru Slopes. We can definitely recommend choosing this company for a Safari in Tanzania, if you want a great experience!
