Amazing value, amazing animals, amazing people
This was the best safari experience I could ever have asked for!
Nuru was our guide, and this man is incredibly knowledgeable. He has the eyes of an eagle, spotting animals long before I could even make out what they were! He was so accommodating to all our needs, made us smile and laugh, and gave us some amazing wildlife encounters while sharing his incredible knowledge throughout the trip.
By day 4, we had already seen everything we hoped for, including leopards, lions and elephants. When Nuru asked if there was anything else I wanted to see, I said a hornbill. The following day, during lunch, he told me to grab my camera and follow him quickly. He had been searching for one ever since and had found it for me! That really sums up Nuru: he doesn’t miss a thing and genuinely goes above and beyond to make everyone happy. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide.
Bonge was a fantastic and accommodating cook who always made sure I had enough delicious vegetarian food to eat.
Wilfred organised everything brilliantly. He helped me plan the trip, gave us recommendations for our onward travel and even managed to source a last-minute SD card for me when I needed one.
A huge thank you to Nuru, Bonge, Wilfred and all the staff for making this such an unforgettable experience. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for an incredible safari!

An Unforgettable Safari with Meru Slopes – The Experience of a Lifetime!
We had an absolutely incredible experience with Meru Slopes and could not recommend them more highly! Our six-day private safari through Tanzania was a dream come true, filled with unforgettable wildlife encounters, beautiful landscapes, amazing lodges and, above all, exceptional service from the entire Meru Slopes team. It was worth every penny, and we would choose them again and again!
A huge thank you to Gift Tembo, our sales contact and the person responsible for organising our safari. Communication was incredibly easy, and he always replied super quickly. He organised everything exactly as we wished, answered all our questions and made sure every detail was taken care of. We even had the pleasure of meeting him in person before and after the safari. As a particularly lovely surprise, he arranged a special dinner for us at one of the lodges, which made our trip even more memorable.
From the airport pick-up to our final transfer back, everything worked perfectly. We always felt welcome and were treated like friends rather than just customers. This personal touch made a real difference throughout our journey.

Our guide, Robert, was simply fantastic! He was always friendly, cheerful, punctual and professional, and we felt completely safe with him throughout the safari. His knowledge of the animals, their behaviour and the different landscapes was impressive. He patiently answered every question we had and taught us so much along the way.
His ability to spot wildlife was extraordinary. He regularly spotted animals we would never have noticed ourselves, even when we thought there was nothing around! He always positioned the vehicle perfectly to give us the best possible views and photo opportunities while maintaining a respectful distance to avoid disturbing the animals.
Robert was also an excellent driver, confidently navigating challenging roads and tracks that we would never have imagined driving ourselves. He always gave us enough time to watch, photograph and appreciate the animals without feeling rushed, while also allowing us time to relax and enjoy the journey. We could not have asked for a better guide!
Our private safari was just for the two of us and Robert, which made the entire experience very personal and flexible. We travelled in a modified 4x4 Toyota Land Cruiser with a pop-up roof, perfectly suited for wildlife viewing and photography.
The vehicle was spacious, comfortable and exceptionally well equipped. We had Wi-Fi, electrical sockets, a fridge stocked with unlimited water and soft drinks, and even beer and wine if desired. The seats were very comfortable, there was plenty of room for both of us and our belongings, and we always felt safe. The vehicle really enhanced our game drives and made even the longer journeys enjoyable.
The accommodation throughout our safari was excellent, with great locations, lovely rooms, delicious food and welcoming staff. We stayed at Under the Shades Safari Lodge in Arusha, Farm of Dreams Lodge in Karatu, Signature Serengeti Luxury Tented Safari Camp in the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Wild Camp inside the conservation area. We also returned to Farm of Dreams on our way back to Arusha.
Our absolute highlight was Signature Serengeti Luxury Tented Safari Camp. It was a dream come true to sit on our terrace and watch zebras grazing right in front of us. The beautiful rooms, excellent food, friendly staff and wildlife surrounding the camp both day and night made this stay truly magical.
The food at all the lodges was consistently very good, with delicious options for different tastes. The staff were always welcoming and attentive, and most of the lodges even had swimming pools where we could relax after dusty but amazing game drives.
The hot lunches provided during our game drives were another great touch. We enjoyed them at lovely picnic sites, with a selection of rice, meat and cooked vegetables. They were tasty, varied and perfect for a day out exploring the parks.
We also appreciated the thoughtful extras, including complimentary SIM cards for our safari. These little details demonstrate how much effort Meru Slopes puts into making the experience as smooth and enjoyable as possible.
Our itinerary took us through Tarangire National Park, Serengeti National Park, the Ngorongoro National Park and Lake Manyara National Park. Each destination had its own character, scenery and wildlife, making every day different and beautiful in its own way.
Of course, wildlife is unpredictable, and no safari company can guarantee specific animal sightings. Nevertheless, we were incredibly lucky and experienced encounters we will remember for the rest of our lives!
Among our highlights were:
- Lion families with tiny cubs eating and playing right beside our vehicle.
- Beautiful leopards resting in trees with their prey.
- Cheetahs walking incredibly close to us.
Elephant families drinking right in front of us.
- Both black and white rhinos.
- Vast herds of wildebeest, zebras and buffalo.
- Huge groups of hippos relaxing together in the water.
- Giraffes surprisingly close to our vehicle and gazelles crossing the tracks all around us.
We were fortunate enough to see all of the Big Five and even the Ugly Five multiple times. Every day brought new surprises, and Robert's incredible spotting skills helped us make the most of every opportunity.
We believe Meru Slopes offers outstanding value for money. The organisation, personal attention, knowledgeable guide, comfortable vehicle, quality accommodation, delicious food and thoughtful extras all contributed to an exceptional experience. Everything felt well organised, without ever losing the personal touch that made the trip so special.
Most importantly, Gift, Robert and the entire Meru Slopes family genuinely cared about making our safari the best possible experience. We always felt looked after, safe and welcome.

This safari was truly an experience of a lifetime. We came home with unforgettable memories, incredible photographs and a much deeper appreciation for Tanzania's wildlife and landscapes.

Best of the best!!
Our honeymoon was organized by Meru Slopes, and we had worked directly with Leonard. We had an all inclusive tour with the most comfortable luxury accommodations, fantastic food and most of all with probably one of the most experienced guides in Tanzania - Jacobo.
We spent out first days in a lovely hotel with a very comprehensive town tour in Arusha. Then Jacobo took us on the 6 days tour around Tanzanian Safaris, we visited Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater, we are happy to say that it was flawless, we managed to see everything on our bucket list, and even after discussing with other travelers we realized we have seen way more than most of other groups that visit the park! Completely unforgettable full of positive emotions and definitely we can brag that National Geographic didn't show as much as we have seen with Jacobo!! 5 out of 5 for Big 5 and Ugly 5, and we have seen each of those animals more than once up close, as close as you can possibly get based on the park's regulations!!! Thank you so much for everything and we will definitely spread the word who you must choose if you visit Tanzania 🇹🇿

We chose Meru Slopes for our 6-day budget safari after reading many excellent reviews, so we expected a well-organised and smooth experience. Overall, the safari itself was good, but our experience with the person who sold us the tour, Almanchius, was quite disappointing.
Our guide was good. He knew exactly where to take us to find the animals and we had a great time with him. He was not very talkative and gave only brief explanations, so at times he felt more like a driver than a guide, but overall we were happy with him.
Our chef was excellent. He was professional, always on time and prepared delicious food throughout the safari.
Unfortunately, communication with Almanchius before and during the trip was the biggest problem.
Even before booking, communication was not very professional. We asked for a call to get more information, but the call lasted less than five minutes and he was clearly distracted, talking while getting in and out of a car. We still decided to book because of the many positive reviews.
After paying our deposit, things became even more concerning. Almanchius stopped replying to our messages and emails, and at one point we genuinely thought we might have been scammed. Eventually, he apologised and gave us different explanations for the lack of communication.
There were also several things that should have been communicated before the safari. For example, we were never told that we would have a chef travelling with us or that we would be expected to tip him. We only found this out once the safari had started.
Before the trip, I also asked Almanchius if it would be possible to arrange a small cake or candle for my husband’s birthday. He told me it would not be a problem, so I assumed this had been arranged. However, on the day, neither the guide nor the chef knew anything about it. I contacted Almanchius again, and once again received an apology and an explanation for why it had not been arranged.
We had a similar problem with our airport transfer after the safari. We had to send several messages and reminders to get this organised. Again, we received apologies and different explanations for the delays.
To be clear, we enjoyed the safari itself and were happy with our guide and chef. The problem was the organisation and communication from the person who sold us the tour. When you are travelling internationally and have already paid for a safari, you need to be able to trust that your questions will be answered and that arrangements will actually be followed through.
Meru Slopes has good safari staff on the ground, but based on our experience, the communication and organisation from Almanchius need significant improvement.

Best safari experience for seeing animals
One of the best safari experience. We did a safari at privately game reserve in South Africa before but Tanzania national parks blew us away with the different scenery and animal diversity. We were very lucky to see all the big five animals, over 30 species of mammals and birds, the migration as well as river crossing and lions & leopard feedings. I booked the trip with Gift Tembo and he was a pleasure to communicate with from beginning to end; all questions are answered clearly and promptly. Everything was arranged flawlessly. Our game/guide, Patrick, was very knowledgeable, patient, polite and a great driver. Our cook, Dula, prepared all the delicious meals. We were also lucky to have a great group of people sharing the trip together. Great memory and experience; highly recommend.

Excellent budget option of open-group safari
Great option for solo traveler on a budget to join an open-group safari. Wilfred from Meru Slopes helped with designing my itinerary, communicated well, and coordinated pick-up and drop-offs efficiently. The safari guide Stanley did an excellent job with finding the best spots for wildlife viewing and was very knowledgeable! Camping was a great and adventurous experience as well.

Choose Meru Slopes for an unforgettable, amazing experience!
We had the best time going with Meru Slopes Tours & Safaris. We visited Arusha NP, Lake Natron, Northern Serengeti (Wildebeest River Crossing), Central Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater on a private, 8-day mid-range tour (End of Sept./beginning of Oct. 2026).
From the very first request to the very end of the tour, the communication with the team, especially Almachius, was very professional, helpful and kind.
We were picked up at the airport on time and had a briefing about the upcoming trip.
From the first moment on, we felt very comfortable and welcome.
Our guide was Gideon. He is so kind and very knowledgable about the country, animals, and he made a real effort to show us all of them. He made every wish come true, even when we were annoying about moving a few meters for a better photo. 😅 The car was always super clean and he’s a very safe driver. We felt very safe and welcome all the time.
The lodges that were picked exceeded our expectations. The hospitality of everyone involved knows no bounds.
