A fun and exciting tour
5/5

We loved our tour with Home to Africa. The experience was made easy with lots of information and a very knowledgeable and capable driver. The 5 different places we stayed were all very welcoming and accommodating. We LOVED our time in Bwindi and the gorilla trekking was definitely a highlight. Considering everything we got to see and do I feel the price was very reasonable. Our driver Patrick was excellent.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND HOME TO AFRICA TOURS!!!
5/5

I had one of my best travel experiences with Home To Africa Tours. I did a 12 day western Uganda tour which allowed me to focus on one part of the country and be able to actually enjoy the trip instead of trying to rush from one place to the next. Derrick was my driver and he was the perfect guide for me. He was very chill but also very informative and knowledgeable about wildlife and the culture of the country. I told him I wanted a taste of the "real" Uganda instead of just doing the touristy things. He took me out to a couple of the local bars at night, we stopped and ate some of the street food from the local vendors and we became friends along the way.

The thing about traveling to a third world country, is that you have to remember that you are in a third world country and you are not going to have the same comforts or amenities as you may have at home or while visiting other westernized countries. You would think this would go without saying, however, I realize that is not always the case. However, with that being said, my lodges were very comfortable with beautiful surroundings and left me with nothing to complain about.

Another thing to remember is wildlife is unpredictable and even though you might have it in your mind that you're going to see all of these animals you dreamt of seeing, the reality is, that's not always the case. I was one of the lucky ones and saw even more than I bargained for. Part of that was because I decided to spend an extra day at Queen Elizabeth NP. Three days at that park might be too many for some, but after not seeing much the first two days, I opted to do the tracker experience (for an extra fee). That was a total game changer for me. It allowed for a "front row" view of a leopard in a tree and a pride of lions making a kill. I even saw a hyena running across the savanna. I wouldn't go into this expecting to see the same things, however, you're chances of seeing these animals do increase drastically.

I did gorilla, chimpanzee and golden monkey trekking as well. I was one of the lucky groups to locate the gorillas within the first hour of trekking, however, I know this can be a 7-9 hour day while hiking through some very difficult, steep terrain. The experience was amazing but that hour did go by fast for me. It was definitely worth the experience, but if I go back, I might opt to do the gorilla habituation where you can spend four hours with them.

All in all, it was a trip of a lifetime for me and I would definitely recommend Home To Africa Tours. I really believe Derrick made all of the difference in my experience. He showed me the "real" Uganda and was so patient about everything. Home To Africa really nailed it in planning everything I had hoped to see and do. I embraced the country and it's culture as well as I could, and I hope if you choose to go, you do the same. It's a beautiful country with so much to offer, but ultimately it's up to you to truly embrace the country for all of its beauty.

Punctual, polite, flexible, skilled, reliable expert animal guides, with a five star experience!
5/5

We rescheduled our trip due to the coronavirus pandemic, and the operator worked with us to rebook lodging and permits. Extremely communicative, modern, reliable, punctual and safe experience. We were a bit nervous during the booking and money transfer. This company was by far the best, most reliable out of our five weeks of Africa bookings. Our driver was far better than our other tours, as he was professional and educated. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Punctual, great itinerary, trustworthy and accomodating
5/5

One of the best holidays. The gorilla safari did not disappoint and was the highlight of the trip but in addition we saw so many amazing things on safari in Uganda. The tours were well planned, the accommodation was great and itinerary, while busy gave us opportunities to see some amazing things. The tour guide was always punctual, attentive and friendly. I think if you wanted a more relaxing holiday you would need to specifically mention how much free time you would like to have.

Amazing and Safe Experience during COVID
5/5

Amazing, beautiful, awe-stricken, humbled, grateful are just a few of the words to describe what my two teens and I experienced during our 6 day excursion over the Christmas holiday in Uganda. Our guide Karim was the best! I highly recommend you ask for him as he is an amazing representative of Uganda hospitality, care and service on behalf of Home to Africa Tours and Travel. We went during COVID which we were obviously hesitant about, but the safety and sanitation, was unbelievable. Actually visiting at this time offers you no crowds, ease in booking and it is extremely helpful to supporting tourism at this time for Ugandans. The landscape from the waters/rapids of the Nile to the brush of the lowlands around Lake Mburo and Queen Elizabeth National Parks, to the hills and highlands near Kibale and Bwindi National Parks is breathtaking and utterly gorgeous. An hour with the gorillas is indescribable as well and something my family will never forget. Don't hesitate, this tour company and Karim gave us an experience we will treasure always.

BEST TRIP EVER
5/5

You are reading this review since you deciding on what tour company to choose for your Uganda safari experience. I was in the same boat as you are right now. Honestly, look no further. Home to Africa is the best choice by far. We chose Home to Africa because it was a local company and the reviews were amazing. The trip planning with Elias in the office was so easy. He answered all our questions in an extremely efficient manner, offered great suggestions, and completely customized our 15 day trip to exactly what we wanted. This trip was life changing and we loved every second of it.

This was our first safari trip and we were not sure what to expect. If you are new to going on a safari with a tour guide, you might not know how vital it is to have a great driver and guide. We won the lottery when we met our tour guide Karim. Karim started off as our tour guide and by the end of the tour he was part of our family. Friendly and always with a smile, he ensured that our trip was a total success. He was there for us any second we needed him and he did more than just the itinerary to make us completely happy. He somehow knew exactly what we needed or wanted and how to give us the best service. Every time we would reach a lodge, he made sure that he talked to the lodge so that we would receive the best service possible. He was very well respected amongst the communities and we knew that we got special treatment because of Karim. For example, a ferry had just left the dock, saw us with Karim and backed up to get us. He was an amazing driver and we felt super safe driving with him. Some of the roads he had to navigate were unpaved or under repair. Despite this, he was always a cool, calm, and careful driver no matter long he had to drive in a day. He also would wash and clean the vehicle every day. Karim stayed in the same lodges as we did and we ate lunch and dinner together. We loved having him join us. He would then discuss what we experienced that day and then would brief us on what to wear the next day (eg. The gorilla trek is tomorrow, wear this and that) and what time we would have to come to breakfast. As far as the animals, since really that is the main reason why we are going on the safari, we had so much luck. There is no guarantee that you will see all the animals, however, I believe that a high percent of seeing them is the knowledge and the experience of the guide. Karim seemed to know where the animals liked to hide. We had the experience of seeing a lioness walk towards our vehicle which was unreal. The tree lions hadn’t been spotted in a week and we drove into the park and saw them in 7 minutes. Our highlight was seeing the gorillas and this experience was simply unreal. We were so lucky that is only took us 27 minutes to get to the gorillas. We learned a lot about the Ugandan culture from him as well. He went the extra mile, above and beyond to fulfill all our wishes, and at the same time he always made sure that we had lots of time to relax.

The lodges we stayed at were amazing, each with their own special attributes. At each lodge, the staff was fantastic and the service was amazing. The food on the trip was way beyond what we expected. Every meal was fantastic, usually with multiple courses for dinner, and reasonably priced alcohol at the lodges. Considering how remote the lodges were, we were very surprised by how good and varied the food choices were. Most of the food was grown right there at the lodge so it was so fresh and delicious.

We really can't say enough about our experience with Home to Africa. Everything was way beyond our expectations and for a very reasonable price compared to what many companies are offering. If you’re planning a trip to Uganda, book it through Home to Africa. You won’t regret it! And remember to ask for KARIM when planning your trip.

Amazing 14 Days in Uganda and Kenya
5/5

Thanks to Home To Africa, we had an unbelievable trip through Uganda and Kenya. They were so easy to work with from the very beginning. They answered all our questions, offered great suggestions, and helped to completely customize our trip.

Once we arrived in Africa, they continued to provide amazing service - making everything incredibly easy. Their guides helped us see everything we hoped for and more: hundreds of animals, amazing sunsets, beautiful scenery, amazing people. It was the trip of a lifetime.

Our guide through Uganda deserves an extra review himself. Karim was an amazing host and guide. He made us feel at home and helped us see so much of the beauty and love that Uganda has to offer. Thank you so much Karim!!

Uganda and Kenya are both amazing places. We saw the big 5 on our first day, in and near Murchison Falls NP. Chimp trekking in Kibale and Gorilla trekking in Bwindi were unbelievable. Lake Bunyonyi is a beauftiful place to relax after it all. In Kenya, highlights included views of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Amboseli, animals in Tsavo West, and relaxation on Diani Beach.

Go to East Africa, it's wonderful. When you do, use Home To Africa - you won't regret it.

Kareem and Home to Africa delivered a perfect trip!
5/5

Our safari exceeded all expectations. Kareem, our driver/guide, has years of experience and knows his way around the parks. He was an impeccable driver, always punctual, professional and friendly. The accommodations HTA set up were in line with what we expected - most importantly the beds were comfortable, bathrooms clean, large and functional and the views -- well each place we stayed was unique and amazing.
