A brilliant nine day safari with an exceptional guide
I have just returned from a fantastic 9-day tour of Uganda with Home To Africa. It was a very enjoyable and productive trip - thanks, especially, to my outstanding guide Karim.
I’m a photographer and have made around 20 wildlife or journalism-focused trips to Africa over the years, including a previous visit to Uganda. My focuses this time were chimps at Kibale, gorillas at Bwindi and mongoose tracking at Mweya (that last one being a bit niche). But we covered a lot more than just this, and the spectacular landscapes alone make Uganda a very compelling photographic destination.
I was travelling by myself, and Karim made the trip so much better by not only being an excellent and very safe driver and a sharp-eyed and very knowledgeable guide, but also by being such a pleasure to travel with. The drives in Uganda are long, so to spend that time with someone who is so nice, so interesting and such a great conversationalist makes a big difference.
I was also grateful for his unfailing punctuality. Early morning light is critical to photography, and he understood that well. He always beat me to breakfast, and we always got to the various park gates before they opened. He also has a well-attuned eye for what makes a good photo and made lots of very helpful suggestions. It really felt like we were working as a team, and I really appreciated that.
The accommodation was all excellent, but I would particularly single out Haven Lodge Buhoma Community at Bwindi. The views from the restaurant terrace looking over the forested slopes are exceptional - and they were just as good from the (very private) terrace of my room. I already miss the view, the tranquility and the sounds of the forest!
It was an exceptional trip and I can recommend Karim and Home to Africa very highly indeed.

Fantastic, relibale, wel-organized agency, one we will definitely choose again.
We had a fantastic experience with Home To Africa agency and our tour guide Derrick Wadria. Everything was well organized, we stayed in beautiful lodges and so many nice people took good care of us. One particular place will stay in our hearts: Ride 4 A Woman lodge, Bwindi. It's wonderful that Home To Africa supports this initiatief, helping women gain skills and earn their own income to support their families. This lodge is located near the community, where we went for a walk, visited a school, talked to the staff and the children. It was a nice experience to get an impression of the culture and make contact with the local people. We definitely had a good experience thanks to our tour guide Derrick. He is a great driver on the challenging roads of Uganda, which made us feel secure at all times. Derrick has a lot of knowledge about the country, people, nature and all kinds of animals. We had a nice, relaxing atmosphere throughout our travels - whether we were chatting, listening to local music or spotting birds and animals. We are genuinely grateful for his care and knowledge.
Tip: Make sure you have enough cash with you. Getting cash from ATM's is challenging in Uganda. Try to get smaller Ugandese banknotes for tipping the rangers and the people who help with different kinds of activities.

Nice itinerary
We appreciated the office working with us to craft a great itinerary that met our interests. Everyone should stay at Ride 4 A Woman for at least 2 nights. We were disappointed in the quality of the guide. He was late picking us up. He definitely did not offer up a lot of information about the areas we were driving through, but he did answer all of our questions. The car did not have air conditioning. In addition, our luggage did not arrive on our flight. Not the tour company’s fault but we were hoping they would have helped us coordinate the pickup. Instead, we were very thankful that the owner at one of our hotels really stepped up.

What an amazing tour company and an amazing trip.
Home to Africa tours really delivered on a wonderful trip for us. The accommodations were all great. All the food & meals were excellent. Our tour guide Benon was amazing! He was so knowledgeable and made sure we were comfortable throughout our whole trip. He also made sure to help us with our safari checklist of animals we hoped to see, including a shoebill on our way to the airport! So cool! What an amazing trip!

Derek was very knowledgeable and friendly.
I highly recommend this tour company. The accommodations were excellent. We had so many wonderful experiences seeing the wildlife. Our guide, Derek, was great at finding various animals. We were able to see some that are very hard to find. I would definitely book with this company again.

An unforgettable safari experience with Home to Africa and Karim
In July 2024 we did a 10-day safari adventure with Home to Africa, and it turned out to be one of the greatest travels of our lives. From the very first interaction with the tour operator to the farewell at the end, every detail of the trip was impeccably organized and tailored to perfection.
Our guide, Karim, was truly exceptional. His extensive knowledge of wildlife, local culture, and the landscapes of Uganda brought every moment to life. He was not just a guide but also a kind, patient, and incredibly passionate person who went above and beyond to ensure we had the best experience possible.
The absolute highlight of our journey was the gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Words cannot do justice to the overwhelming emotions of being just a few feet away from these gentle giants in their natural habitat. Watching the gorillas interact, care for their young, and go about their daily lives was surreal and humbling. It’s a moment we will cherish forever. Karim’s expertise and respectful approach during organization of the trek made it all the more meaningful.
Beyond the gorillas, every day brought new wonders: thrilling game drives through breathtaking savannahs, boat cruises on serene waterways teeming with wildlife, and encounters with elephants, lions, and countless other animals. Each location we visited was a unique chapter in our adventure.
The accommodations (and we opted for budget level) were excellent, offering comfort and beautiful views that perfectly complemented the wilderness experience. The hospitality of the local people was heartwarming, adding another layer of richness to the journey.
Home to Africa and Karim gave us a trip of a lifetime. If you’re considering a safari in Uganda, don’t hesitate to choose them. The combination of stunning landscapes, unforgettable wildlife encounters, and outstanding guidance made this journey beyond extraordinary. We’re already dreaming of the day we can return!

Great trip with Home to Africa
I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude for the trip. It was very well constructed and organized. A very big thank you to our guide Vianney who excelled in his job both as a guide and as a chauffeur. He both shoved us and explained everything there is to know about Ugandan birds and animals. We learned about Ugandan traditions, everyday life and cuisines. Vianney listened to our requests and realized them all in real life. We are extremely happy that our dream of visiting Uganda came true. Our most sincere thank you! VITA LAKUTE

The trip was incredible, from the acommodations, to the itinerary, to transportation, to our guide.
We couldn't have chosen a better company to organize our Ugandans trip with. From the begging, Home to Africa´s staff was very attentive and allowed us to organize our trip according to our preferences and budget. Everything was incredible, from the accommodations, to the itinerary, to the transportation. And of course, we can´t not mention our amazing guide, Brian. Extremely careful, attentive, patient and always worried that everything with our trip was allright. We are beyond thankful for the opportunity of knowing Uganda and its people. We were amazed by the country and the kindness of Ugandans and we hope that this was the first of many visits.

Excellent service from an amazing company, with incredible communication from the outset
Our safari was customised, by Home to Africa Tours and Travel, to suit our requirement of both Gorilla Trekking and Chimpanzee tracking. After arriving very late due airline problems (nothing to do with Home to Africa}, Hedmond and Derrick went well out of their way to ensure that we had a very good holiday, missing very little of our original itinery. They organised a very nice hotel for u sat a reasonable cost when we were a little stranded in the wrong place. Derrick our driver/guide was excellent, he was very knowledgeable, friendly and patient. We had an amazing holiday after a disastrous start, thanks to Home for Africa. We were never left wondering what was happening as Derrick kept us well informed and when possible gave us choices. Gorilla Trekking was incredible and although I am not the fittest person with help from porters was able to make it to see I would not hesitate to use this company again.

A Trip of a Lifetime and Wonderful Experience
What an experience, Derrick our tour guide and driver was absolutely amazing, Hedmond in the Home to Africa office was equally as amazing.
After a disastrous start to out holiday, caused by the airline not Home to Africa, we found ourselves stranded in Kigali after RwandAir had changed the flight times after take off, causing us to miss the connecting flight and the first day of our holiday.
We contacted Hedmond at Home to Africa who video called to assist with our dilemma, Derrick was in the office and we had a chance to introduce ourselves, this made me feel very comfortable as now I knew who to look out for when we arrived at Entebbe airport.
Derrick was informative, friendly and had excellent knowledge of the wildlife, culture and the extremely friendly Ugandans that we met on our trip.
The accommodations were comfortable and clean. Staff at the Irungu Forest Safari Lodge and the Ride 4 a Woman Lodge were very helpful and made us feel like family.
I highly recommend Home to Africa for any future trips to East Africa and would definitely use the company again.
Thank you to Hedmond and Derrick
