The best way to see Uganda!
5/5

We did the 11-Day Wildlife Safari (inc. Gorilla and Chimp Trekking) and this all inclusive trip was simply awesome!

From the efficient (email response within hours), friendly (from emails between Hedmond and Elias to Karim, our conservation guide / driver and by the end of the trip, a great friend) and simply wonderful accommodation throughout our trip, I would recommend Home to Africa to show you the best of Uganda. Hands down.

Our itinerary took us to
- Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary: we spotted around 8 rhinos, including a baby. Robert our tracker was knowledgeable and passionate. We had a delicious lunch there too.
- Murchison Falls NP: we saw a leopard, elephants, giraffe, lions, buffalo, the rare shoebill (!), hippos, crocodiles and some amazing birds too. Going on Game Drives with Karim was wonderful. Murchison Falls was probably our fave Park - variety (jungle, river and Savannah). Also did the river cruise which was great too.
- Kibale Forest National Park: we tracked chimps here. Our ranger Aisha was awesome - we Watched around 8 chimps that were in a tree (a couple of babies too). Plus followed another chimp on foot - phew.
- Queen Elizabeth NP: another Game Drive where we saw lions hunting (well, trying to hunt a kob), elephants, bush bucks, buffaloes and a river cruise along Kazinga Channel (amazing birds, including the Fish Eagle, hippos and a herd of elephants playing on the river bank). Our accommodation was AMAZING!
- Bwindi NP: the gorillas. The. Gorillas. We were one of the lucky ones - it only took us 45 mins to get to the gorillas. This experience was simply amazing.
- Lake Bunyonyi: great spot to chill out, but also watch birds (Weaver birds to the Ugandan national bird, the Crested Crane). The lake is stunning (and safe the swim!).
- Lake Mburo NP: the new animal we saw were zebra. Including a poor Impala that was mourning the death of its baby.

Our accommodation:
We booked our trip around 3 months before. Between building / personalising our itinerary, then confirming, then organising payment it was around 2 weeks.

As you would expect, some of our first options for accommodation were booked, but Home to Africa found some AMAZING replacements. The worst of the accommodation was the first night in Entebbe (our first option was booked out, and Home to Africa did give us an option to change but we decided to stick with their recommendation). Also, we were only in Entebbe for 1 night (maybe 15 hours max) in the scheme of things, really nothing major. Every other accommodation was perfect. Our accommodation ranged from lodges and ‘tented’ rooms with all rooms having their own bathrooms with hot showers too.

The Home to Africa team:
- Hedmond and Elias communicated clearly, responded to emails fast (within hours - Australia time) and provided some great tips to help with packing too.

- Karim, our amazing guide. He is the best guide and amazing driver. He greeted us at Entebbe Airport, and at the end dropped us off at our Entebbe accommodation we booked separately. Some of those roads he had to navigate - gosh! I never once felt unsafe. Karim is thoughtful, personable, knowledgeable, funny, connected and respected amongst the tourism community on the ground. It was wonderful seeing and experiencing Uganda through his eyes - the animals, the birds to daily farming life. Karim stayed in most of the same lodges as we did and we ate most meals together - whether debriefing on what we saw / experienced that day over dinner to briefing us on what to wear the next day (eg. The gorilla trek is tomorrow, wear this and that). Thank YOU Karim. You really made our holiday the best we have ever had!

What are you waiting for!? If you’re planning a trip to Uganda, book it through Home to Africa. You won’t regret it!

Incredible
5/5

Our experience with Home to Africa has been great! We did a 9 days safari and everything was as planned. Not only we didn’t have any inconvenince, but also everything was greater than we expected!
These are private tours were you travel alone with your guide!
The hotels were incredible with a spectacular view from the room, great food, perfect acomodation… some of them had swimming pool and you could see the NP from there.
The hotels were also cozy but not eccentric, with all the facilities but sustanaible and respectful with the place you are, just what we were looking for!

But the best of the trip has been our guide Derik. It has been a pleasure to travel with him and he really did an effort for making us see everything we could! We had a really good experience with the lions and he let us watch the animals until we said it was ok! Also you could see he was a very experienced guide and he knows everyone wherever you go!

Hope to see you soon!

The five star reviews are well deserved.
5/5

From the initial online contact, evening flight arrival to the tour that followed, every detail was looked after and Home To Africa provided the African experience I was hoping for. Derrick was my guide and he is an enthusiastic wildlife expert who is determined to show you as many creatures as possible and we covered a lot of ground and had a lot of laughs. Visited five national parks, the rhino sanctuary and the Entebbe botanical gardens on Lake Victoria. A few of the lodges were actually luxurious and the settings are tremendous. Endless vistas and rare animals abound.

An amazing experience with a wonderful team
5/5

Our 9 night tour of Uganda was an experience we will never forget. Prior to arriving Elias and his team were always available to answer any questions and adjust things to make our tour perfect for us. We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and were super surprised when we were taken to H to A office on arrival and presented with a beautiful cake to make the occasion.
Chris , our driver/guide was excellent and even when we had a flat tyre 2 days in a row , he stepped up to minimize the impact on us and our plans. He was very knowledgable and a great person to travel with.
We also had a Kenya visit organized through H to A and this worked out seamlessly as well. Although it was a different company , they were well informed and offered great service.

Unforgettable Experience
5/5

Ahmed and I booked with Home to Africa to travel across Uganda. With so many operators it was hard to know who to choose. Home to Africa offered a personal family feel and are entirely a local business. We totally loved our experience. It was organised so well by Elias who kept in touch all the time, providing updates and information. Our guide Nasser was amazing. He gave us truly an unforgettable safari. Gorilla trekking was fantastic and Queen Elizabeth park will always remain in our mind. Food and accommodation were spot on and completely suited our needs. We are already planning our next trip back.

Awesome
5/5

I loved my 15 day Ugandan holiday, the country was so much more beautiful than I ever imagined. This was my third trip to Africa so I knew what I wanted and I also knew that Australian companies could not supply it for me. All my enquiries were promptly answered by Elias during the planning stage. My tour was designed for me and included 2 gorilla treks in different sectors which were amazing! My guide Karim did every thing to ensure my holiday was perfect. As a solo female traveler I was a bit apprehensive about a one on one tour, but from the moment we met at Entebbe airport, we started a fabulous adventure. Karim shared my love of photography and gave me every opportunity to capture all the pics I wanted.
Thanks so much Home to Africa, I will see you again

Excellent service and outstanding professionalism, this is a company you can trust.
5/5

We contracted H to A to help us organize transportation and accommodations for a conference. Our organization is located in Canada, and we needed to organize these plans at a distance and on very short notice. H to A had the most competitive bid, and were able to accommodate us on extremely short notice (less then one week). They had everything arranged to our specifications, and worked with our travelers to resolve any challenge they had. From our side, the process of working with them was seamless. They kept us in communication to quickly resolve issues. The feedback from our participants was the same- they found the staff very kind and helpful, and the drivers were very detail oriented and professional. Overall, we cannot recommend them highly enough. If you are doing business at a distance, this is a partner you can trust.

An amazing trip to Uganda
5/5

We came back early April from an amazing 8 day trip to Uganda with Home to Africa.
Everything turned out really well. Booking was a breeze. All inquiries were answered clearly and promptly by Elias.
We were very happy to have Karim as our driver/guide. The itinerary we had entailed driving very long hours under less than ideal driving conditions. Stretches of roads were unpaved or under repair. Despite this, he was always a cool, calm, and careful driver. He was very knowledgeable with animals including the many different bird species we encountered. He was very friendly and always went out of his way to accommodate our requests. The trip felt more like traveling with a friend.
Uganda is a wonderful place to visit. If you are planning a trip, I highly recommend Home to Africa as a tour company and Karim as a guide.

A fantastic trip around Uganda and all that it offers
5/5

If you are interested in a once in a lifetime safari and to get the full experience of Africa and its nature and lifestyle I would highly recommend Home to Africa.

You are supplied with a driver who takes you around Uganda and its national parks who is a local and therefore very knowledgable about what you are experiencing. We had the fantastic Derrick who was humble, caring and very skilled at his job. Ask for him, you will be so satisfied!

If you happen to be interested in going to Uganda I would suggest booking for as many days as you can since there is so much to see. Fantastic national parks, waterfalls, the Nile, villages and the primate trekking is stunning and something you don't want to miss out on.

The lodges where you are staying are very comfortable and the food is amazing.

Note that if you are embarking on this journey you will need to adapt to the safari "lifestyle" and be prepared with comfortable walking shoes, sporty outfits and some sort of headwear. Pack your rainclothes and wellington boots, especially if you are going chimp-trekking which is situated in the rain forest. When in contact with the Home to Africa office don't be afraid to ask what they think you should pack for the trip since it is pretty hard to imagine what you will be needing while in Uganda. For us Scandinavians who are used to a totally different climate it would have been great if we had gotten a bit more help with our packing, so be sure to ask either the office or someone you know who is familiar with this type of trip.

If you are going to do the Gorilla trekking, which is breathtaking, take a long hard honest look in the mirror and ask yourself if you are able to climb hilly muddy mountains with thick forrests and steep paths. We struggled with this trekking since we are not an active family and it would have been nice to know what we were getting ourselves into. It is NOT a walk in the park, it is trecherous, but definately worth it.
