Out of this World
5/5

I couldn't expect better. Booked a tour just 15 days before arriving (crazy to book so last minute) and some hotels I chose were already full so they went with me through all the possibilities. They were always a pleasure to deal with, very charming and helpful and specially prompt to reply and would never be tired or bothered. We managed to do a fantastic itinerary in such a short notice and upon arrival I was greeted at the airport by Dickson, an amazing human being who taught us so much about all the species we found. Vehicle was pretty new and comfortable, no signs of wear. Couldn't expect better service. If some criticism is needed, I would recommend a better on site material (books, maps, etc) which I had not much.

4 day Lake Nakuru and Maasai Mara - an incredible experience!
5/5

I went on a 4 day safari in Kenya. I started from Nairobi, spent one day at Lake Nakuru before continuing to Maasai Mara and then back to Nairobi after two days there.
The team picked me up at the airport, helped me exchange money and get a SIM card.
Once I had all I needed Charles, my driver and guide, started our trip. Charles is a fantastic person: really nice, explained me a lot about the country, knew where to find and how to spot animals and to predict their movements so that I had an amazing view of them and he was happy to adjust our schedule to my preferences. He was able to turn the trip into a once in a lifetime experience!

Besides that, all the accommodations were great with amazing service and really good food.
The team of It Started in Africa responded to all mails within 24 hours and were great in setting up what I was looking for while taking specific wishes into consideration.

A huge thank you especially to Charles, my driver and guide, and also to the whole team of It Started in Africa!

Amazing safari
5/5

The safari was an incredible experience. I loved to sleep in tented camps surrounded with wild animals, having lunch watching lions sleeping under a tree and zebras eating grass. It was just so unreal! The balloon safari was awesome, something you have to do in your life. My guide Jackson was very good at spotting animals and I got to see the Big five! Including leopard with her cub and 2 black rhinos in Ngorongoro crater. The company was always concern about how I was feeling and if the trip was meeting my expectations (it was and even exceeded). I highly recommend them.

Pure magic, best I have experienced in the 25 years.
5/5

I have been visiting Kenya and Tsanzania for many years and sampled many east African organisations. It stated in Africa is now my main choice. The support staff pandered proffessionally to my requirements and ensured that our budget was adhered to, resulting in a trip that went beyond all our expectations. Our drivers in Kenya and Tanzania were very good, ensuring smooth transitions for the 10 day safaris ranging from Longonor NP, Amboseli NP and the Serengetti. At each stage of the tour our accommodation was beyond that of what I expected and the food also very good, with plenty of choices.
I cannot believe the negative remarks made by some clients... perhaps they were playing the game and trying to get money back, but as far as we were concerned it was a trip of a lifetime, something to cherish and brag about. We will be in touch in two years time-your organisation is par excellent = Thank you It started in Africa.

It was the best choice of the whole trip!

There are no words of thanks for the commitment and dedication of all the staff of this company in providing such a rewarding experience.
There are no words to thank for patience from the first day, to answer the thousand and one questions and last minute changes!
And especially do not forget to mention that the difference between a good experience and an unforgettable experience are undoubtedly the people: the staff that accompanied us on the trip!
The guide was of a professionalism and commitment that no money in the world pays for! Your ability to read the group and the right moments to intervene made Safari the experience of a lifetime! The ability to rejoice when we were more tired, the ability to realize when we were very excited and needing a break, the ability to realize when it was our group time and not intervene ... the commitment to make every day an experience Unforgettable, The dedication with which in the game drivers sought the animals so that we did not leave frustrated ... the focus and responsibility with which he drove the car and the whole safari ... He made the difference and at the end of the day, when We were in the parks it was evident our happiness in relation to other groups!
I seriously would recommend this company for the seriousness, responsibility and commitment with which we treated our safari!

The Magic of Safaris
5/5

Now safely back at home we have had time to reflect on our recent Safari with you. We can safely say without any doubt that we had a great time, your organisation of our holiday was perfect. The two drivers, firstly Joseph and later Chicho worked their socks off on our behalf to ensure that we got the most from each day; in fact the final piece fell into place at the very final day, the Rhino! We saw two which made our sighting of the big five complete.

Our accommodation be it a camp or lodge location all came up to our expectations-and beyond. Our friend Terry will be visiting Trip Adisor for each location as well as for yourselves-with very favourable remarks.

Once again thank you so very much for organising our trip to both Kenya and Tanzania.

It couldn't have been better!

We have just completed a 7-day safari in Tanzania with It Started in Africa covering the Tarangire National park, Lake Manyara, the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater. We were a family group of 15 from Canada, USA and Scotland. It is hard to know where to start in reviewing this experience. Everything from the first day to the last was just an incredible adventure. Travelling in 3 Land Cruisers with our excellent driver/guides, we seemed to have just one adventure after another. We danced with Masai tribespeople, survived an elephant charge, had a late night encounter with hippos, shot arrows with the Hadzabe tribe and had the best New Year's party ever in a tent in the middle of nowhere in the Serengeti. And , of course , we saw lots and lots of animals - the BIg Five plus the now quite hard to find Black Rhino. We chose to stay in a mix of fairly elegant lodges (Sopa in the Tarangire) and Serena in Ngorongoro) and tented camps. Both kinds of accommodations were excellent and provided incredibly varied and tasty meals. We particularly enjoyed our tent camp experience at Kati Kati where the accommodation was simple and the food really excellent. One interesting feature of the camp is how you take a shower. The staff bring a bucket of nice warm water to your tent and - from the outside - empty it into a cistern. You then pull a chain and enjoy a warm - though short - shower. Our family had fun with that experience. It Started in Africa were a superb safari company. From the time we first contacted them until we were all heading home, their customer service was outstanding. They were extremely responsive to all our emails and questions and we would have no hesitation recommending them. We chose to move on to a different destination each night which was good but quite tiring after 7 days. I would recommend staying in some spots for two nights. Otherwise, just go. You won't regret it.

Nine days in Kenya
5/5

We had a wonderful trip organised by It Started in Africa. I think we were especially lucky to have had Martin as our driver/guide. He was always polite, informative and did a fantastic job in driving us around. As you know we booked to cover a great deal of Kenya in a short time!

All the places you suggested that we stay, were lovely. Especially Tumbili Lodge and our last camp outside the Masai Mara, Basecamp. They were both very special places.

It was interesting to travel from Tsavo West, to Amboseli and then up the Rift Valley and then back down to the Masai Mara and definitely worth the trip to the North to see the flamingos on Lake Baringo.

I guess the highlights were seeing a leopard in Tsavo West who allowed us to study him close up very early in the morning for 15 minutes, and then the lovely mixture of non aggressive animals in Amboseli. The Masai Mara allowed us to see lion, cheetah, elephant, rhino, and so many other animals too many to mention.

We have already recommended your company to our friends and I shall send through a few photos.
