Amazing experience with Eco-Africa. Highly recommend.
We did a seven-day Lemosho route Kilimanjaro trek and a one-day Tarangire safari with Eco Africa. Both were truly incredible experiences, and I am deeply grateful to Eco Africa for making them possible.
The team worked closely with us to ensure every step of our journey went smoothly. They coordinated transportation to and from the airport, the hotel, Kilimanjaro, and Tarangire. They were extremely helpful and accommodating when we decided to fit in a safari at the last second, making sure we had ample time at the park while still ensuring we got to the airport in time for our flight. They made sure we had all the gear we needed and had additional gear available for rental at a reasonable price.
On the mountain, the team was just as organized and thorough. Our incredible team of guides and porters worked tirelessly to ensure every member of our seven-person group made it up to the summit safely and in good spirits. Every night, we had an amazing dinner (our guides described... Read more the chef as a “magician”, which I think is apt), followed by a medical checkup and a briefing on the next day’s trek. Each morning, we were awoken with a mugful of hot tea and coffee, hot water to wash off with, and a big breakfast while the team treated the water and refilled our bottles/water packs.
Beyond the logistics, what made our journey truly special was the genuine thoughtfulness and camaraderie with which the team treated us. There were several moments when a thoughtful gesture by a member of our team moved me to tears. To provide a few examples: when we arrived at camp after long days of hiking, members of the team rushed up to us to help us dust off our shoes and hand us glasses of mango juice. During the long summit night hike, our guides and porters sang to us to keep us motivated and energized. One guide noticed that my shoes were slipping on steeper segments of the hike, and from there on out, on every descent, a member of the team tracked me closely to catch me if I slipped. I later learned that, on strenuous segments, our guides listened to the sound of our breathing to make sure they were setting an appropriate pace. Throughout the journey, the team joked with us, developed affectionate nicknames for us, laughed with us, sang with us, and danced with us.
I am particularly grateful to our four wonderful guides: Onesmo, John, Everlyne, and Vincent. They did an incredible job motivating and leading both us and the team of porters—they were proactive, attentive, knowledgeable, and fun. I loved getting to know them and have so much respect and admiration for every single one of them.
I also had a great experience on the Tarangire safari with Living, our driver and guide. He was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and he went out of his way to make sure we had the chance to see a broad swath of wildlife before returning to the airport.
Overall, I could not be happier with my experience with Eco Africa. I highly recommend them to anyone planning to visit Tanzania.

Can’t recommend Eco Africa enough!!
I cannot recommend eco Africa enough!!!We did the 7 day Lemosho climb and Tarangire safari day trip — both went incredibly smoothly thanks entirely to eco Africa. From the minute we landed at the airport til we flew out, they ensured we were able to do everything we wanted to within a tight schedule and that we felt safe & comfortable while doing so — they transported us to and from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to our hike and safari. They were easy to contact ahead of time & during the trip.
On the hike: hands down one of my favorite experiences ever. The climb itself was incredible — fantastic views ranging from the rainforest zone all the way to the arctic zone on the summit and effortful but very doable & rewarding hikes.
That said, it was really our Eco-Africa team that made the experience so remarkable. We had four FANTASTIC guides (Onesmo, Everlyne, John, and Vincent), a chef (the meals were consistently astonishingly good in addition... Read more to being great fuel for the hikes), + ~ 25 porters that carried our things + stuff for the camps in addition to fulfilling other roles (e.g. bringing hot tea to our tents each morning, providing support especially on summit night).
The attention to detail was unmatched— the guides checked over our gear at the hotel before starting, checked our blood oxygen level and altitude symptoms every morning and night, thought through the best meals and snacks for the trek, checked our daypacks to make sure they weren’t too heavy, told us how much water to drink, etc etc.
I was also pleasantly surprised by the camps — in addition to our personal tents, the team set up two bathroom tents and a dining tent at each site. The food was somehow delicious all the way up the mountain, with fresh fruit, protein, carbs, etc served hot and well seasoned.
What really made all the difference, though, was the way the team made us feel like we were part of a community— in addition to being skilled & knowledgeable, their kindness and energy went above and beyond.
I can easily imagine how hiking Kilimanjaro could get stressful and overwhelming, particularly as it gets closer to the summit, but the team’s support, smiles, and inclusivity made even the most strenuous parts feel super manageable and made the experience on the whole enjoyable & nearly stress-free.
To give just one of many examples — one of the people in my group accidentally broke his sunglasses a couple of days in and Onsemo immediately offered up an extra pair that he had. As another example, when I got mild nausea from the altitude, John and Everlyne alternated carrying my daypack.
I could give tons more examples, but suffice it to say that I can’t imagine a way the team could have done more to make us feel safe and comfortable.
(Also, as a side note, Eco Africa is a KPAP member which was important to us for helping ensure that the porters are safe and fairly compensated. Multiple companies are members, but not all)
On the safari: Again, wildly exceeded expectations. Eco picked us up from our hotel, timing it so that we’d get to have as full of a day as possible while still getting us to the airport at the perfect time that evening.
Living, our driver and guide, was awesome— very friendly and knowledgeable. He answered all our (many) qs about the animals (plus our more general qs about the cities and areas that we drove through on the way to the park).
We were able to see elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and even lions (!!), plus various birds and smaller animals (all of which Living was very impressive at finding, identifying, and sharing facts about).
All in all, this was a once in a lifetime trip and I can’t imagine a group doing a better job with it than eco !!

Professional and Passionate
We (5 friends and family) climbed Kilimanjaro and went on Serengeti safari with Eco-Africa. The service and experience exceeded expectations and has shifted my opinions of guides forever. Not all guides are created equal. Use a KPAP only guide to climb. KPAP ensures the porters are well paid and have enough food and accomodations on the mtn. Eco-Africa is head and shoulders above the other guides. We got 3 hot meals a day, AM coffee and hot water for washing and a hot towel when we come into camp. From the moment we landed at the airport to when they dropped us off at the airport at 0500 they were with us every step of the way. Top 5 musts: 1. Call Eco-Africa, 2. Donate all you climbing gear to the guides, 3. Tip big, 4. Learn some Swahili before you go, 5. Hakuna Matada.

EcoAfrica Review: An Unforgettable Tanzania Adventure
After returning from what can only be described as the adventure of a lifetime with EcoAfrica Tours, I feel compelled to share my experience with fellow travelers. Our 8-day Lemosho route climb of Mt. Kilimanjaro followed by a 5-day safari in the Serengeti and Ndutu exceeded all expectations and has set the bar impossibly high for future adventures.
Overall Experience
From the very beginning, EcoAfrica demonstrated exceptional professionalism and attention to detail. The booking process was seamless, with Fredrick (the big boss) providing clear and prompt communication via email, text, and phone calls. Every question we had was answered thoroughly, helping us prepare properly for this epic journey. Airport pickup was efficient and stress-free—exactly what you need after a long international flight.
Kilimanjaro Climb
The Kilimanjaro portion of our trip was nothing short of magical. As a locally owned and operated company (with no international middlemen),... Read more EcoAfrica delivered an authentic, culturally immersive experience that many other tour operators simply cannot match.
Guides & Staff
Our guides Onesmo, Gewah, and John were extraordinary. While other groups rushed past beautiful scenery, our guides took time to teach us Swahili, identify native plants, and point out wildlife including giraffes, various monkey species, springbok, and countless birds. Their flexibility allowed us to savor each moment and capture photos without feeling rushed, all while keeping our safety as their top priority.
The porters (or "Kilifighters" as they're known) transformed our trek into a familial experience. This incredible team included Alfonz, Magdalena, Jonas, Philipo, Ernest, Okinyi, Peter, Thomas, Richard, Faustine, Emanuel, Gewah, Vincent, David, Musah, Edward, Filamon, John (Walker), and Latifa. They went above and beyond to ensure our comfort, singing beautiful traditional songs that echoed through the mountain trails.
Special recognition must go to our chef Magician Mathew and his assistant Emmanuel, who created culinary miracles at high altitude. On summit day, we were especially grateful for the support of John Walker and Ernest, whose encouragement helped us reach the top.
What impressed me most was that there was never an "us vs. them" mentality—we truly became one unified group experiencing the mountain together. It's worth noting that EcoAfrica is a proud member of KPAP (Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project), demonstrating their commitment to ethical treatment of their staff.
Environmental Commitment
One of my most meaningful experiences on the mountain came at Shira II Camp, where our guides organized an impromptu trash cleanup initiative. Together with our team, we collected an astounding 18kg of garbage left behind by previous climbers. One of our dedicated porters then carried this waste off the mountain for proper disposal. This wasn't just a photo opportunity but a genuine commitment to preservation that truly showed EcoAfrica living up to their name. Their push for sustainability and respect for this natural wonder sets them apart from many other operators on the mountain.
Cuisine
The food deserves special mention—it was unquestionably the best mountain food I've ever experienced. Magician Mathew lived up to his name, conjuring up generous portions of traditional Tanzanian cuisine, prepared with care at high altitude. Despite bringing plenty of snacks, we rarely needed them as the meals were so plentiful and satisfying. In fact, we only managed to finish all the food served once during the entire trek!
Throughout our climb, we passed many other groups and camps, and I can honestly say I never once wished we were with another company. In fact, hikers from other groups frequently approached us to ask which company we were with, as our joy and camaraderie were evident to all.
Safari Experience
Our 5-day safari in the Serengeti, Ndutu and Ngorongoro was equally impressive. Our guide Josephat was encyclopedic in his knowledge of the ecosystem—from large mammals to birds, insects, and plants. We literally could not stump this man with our endless questions. His expertise took us to places other drivers wouldn't venture, resulting in extraordinary wildlife encounters.
The highlight was witnessing a cheetah kill just three minutes from our accommodation one morning! We successfully spotted the "Big 5" and countless other species - 89 different animals to be exact! The Land Cruiser provided was perfect for our group of five, with a pop-top design that allowed for excellent photography opportunities.
The accommodations arranged by EcoAfrica enhanced our connection to the landscape. The luxurious tents were spacious and comfortable while immersing us in the sounds of the Serengeti—from distant lion roars to zebras grazing just a few hundred feet away. The sunrises and sunsets viewed from our camp were absolutely breathtaking.
Conclusion
If you're considering a Kilimanjaro climb or Tanzanian safari, I cannot recommend EcoAfrica strongly enough. Their locally-owned operation, led by Fredrick, provides cultural authenticity, exceptional guides, ethical treatment of staff, and attention to detail that made this the experience of a lifetime. From the moment we booked until our reluctant departure, EcoAfrica transformed what could have been simply a vacation into a profound, life-changing journey.
Kwa shukrani nyingi (With much gratitude),
Justin

A special and unforgettable experience
If I could give Eco-Africa Climbing all the stars in the world, believe me I would! From the moment they met us at the airport to reaching the summit of Kilimanjaro, they looked after us exceptionally. One of the first things our guide Onesmo said to us was “we are a family”, which you might not experience if you go with one of the bigger tour operators. The entire crew (guides, chef, waiter, porters) made us feel so welcome and we wouldn’t have made it to the top without their kindness, support and knowledge. The planning process was seamless thanks to Frederick’s quick communication, and the hike itself was smooth sailing. Luckily we did not have altitude sickness but Onesmo and Gewa consistently checked on us and encouraged us to go at a pace we were comfortable with. The dining, sleeping and toilet facilities were all very clean and comfortable and the food was AMAZING! We were both vegetarian but occasionally eat fish and they were able to accommodate to this. It was the most special,... Read more unforgettable and beautiful adventure we have ever been on, all thanks to Eco. Deepest gratitude forever.

Unforgettable Kilimanjaro experience
I had the privilege of summiting Mount Kilimanjaro on the morning of January 17th, 2025, with the incredible team from Eco-Africa Climbing & Safari.
I chose the 8-day Lemosho route, from January 11th to January 18th, 2025.
From my very first communication with Mr. Fredrick Wilbert, Eco-Africa’s Travel Expert, the entire planning process was seamless and enjoyable. Any questions or concerns were addressed promptly, and the team showed great flexibility throughout.
Upon arriving at Kilimanjaro International Airport, Fredrick personally greeted me and drove me to Panama Guest House in Moshi, which serves as the pre- and post-trip accommodation. The guest house was clean, the staff was friendly and accommodating, and it provided a comfortable place for a brief stay.
The night before the trek, I met our Head Guide, Onesmo, who gave a thorough and informative briefing on the trip. He also conducted a detailed gear check to ensure everything was in order... Read more for the eight days ahead.
As I met the rest of the crew, it quickly became clear that Eco-Africa is not just another tour operator, but a well-coordinated team that treats its clients like family. The entire crew was friendly, helpful, and deeply committed to ensuring our comfort and success throughout the journey.
Hiking never felt like a burden, thanks to engaging and informative conversations with our guide. He shared insights about the different climate zones we passed through and offered tips on hiking techniques, pacing, and strategies to make the summit successful and as enjoyable as possible.
The campsites were always set up when we arrived, greeted with big smiles and high-fives, along with a refreshing juice to celebrate completing the day's hike.
The sleeping and dining tents were perfectly adequate, providing shelter and comfort amidst the varying weather conditions.
The meals were expertly prepared, offering a variety of options throughout the trip, ensuring that we were never hungry! The cooks truly worked magic with their meals.
Eco-Africa prides itself on being a "no-trace" company, and they absolutely lived up to this. Trash was managed responsibly, and team members were frequently seen walking through the camps, picking up any litter to ensure that we left no trace behind. Fantastic job on this front!
This trip was an overwhelming success, thanks to the exceptional efforts of the entire team.
A special thank you to Onesmo (Head Guide), Matthew and Faustine (the cooks), Jonathan (the attentive waiter), Ali (who prepared my sleeping arrangements and supported me during the summit push), and Thomas, Richard, Hussain, Victor, and Mjuni (the hardworking porters) who always kept things light with jokes and smiles.
I’m left with unforgettable memories and friendships for life!
Thank you, Eco-Africa—I look forward to our next adventure together!

Amazing Experience, Impeccable Service
My husband and I climbed Kilimanjaro with Eco Africa Climbing in October 2024. Making it to the summit was an experience of a lifetime made possible by Fredrick, our guides, Gewa and John, our cook, Matthew, and our amazing team of Kilifighters (porters). We chose the 8-day Lemosho route, which took us through beautiful jungle scenery to the moorland and eventually to the alpine desert. We were so well cared for on the trail and in camp. Matthew made phenomenal vegan meals to accommodate my dietary preferences, every meal was a feast. I suffered some altitude sickness, but Gewa, John, and the entire team looked after me and helped me achieve my dream. I quite literally would not have been able to do it without them. Their positivity and camaraderie was contagious, and they believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. We followed our climb with a 3-day safari to Serengeti and Ngorogoro Crater, which was the perfect amount of time and an equally amazing experience. Our guide, Joseph, was... Read more friendly and knowledgeable, and he was able to position us to see animals we never expected, including the elusive leopard and rhino. Frederick handled everything from start to finish, including accommodations in Moshi and on safari. Our trip to Tanzania was an amazing experience, and I recommend Eco-Africa Climbing to anyone considering climbing Kilimanjaro!

Brilliant local company that excelled on every level.
We booked with Eco-Africa to climb Kilimanjaro. the following review is from that experience.
Who are we?
We were team AUG (Instagram page). Prior to booking this trip we had never heard of Eco-Africa.
Our criteria for booking a company to climb Kili, was for the company to be a KPAP member and a local business from Tanzania. The rest of it was dates that lined up and professional communication.
We arranged everything with Frederick online, paid the deposit, flew into Tanzania and from that moment on we were treated like rock stars. The whole team, 2 guides, chef and 10 porters were enthusiastic, fun, approachable, fit and keen to make us feel welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. The porters are not just porters, they all have their own specific jobs including Matthew our "waiter' who woke us each morning with hot coffee and was a smiling face at every meal.
Each day we were given a briefing and had a health check completed. Both morning and... Read more again every evening.
Prior to leaving camp each morning we knew what to expect and how the day would go.
The food was next level, silver plater service, incredibly tasty and plenty of it.
On summit day, one of us suffered some nausa from the altitude and upon reaching the summit, chose to descend quickly. Eco-Africa sends 2 guides plus an additional experienced porter to the summit so there is flexibility for 2 to assist with the descent, leaving 1 to come down slowly with the remaining client. We saw a few companies with 1 guide and 1 climber struggling to descend quickly as there was no additional support.
Following the end of the climb were taken back to town to shower before being collected for a ceremony back at the office. There was a table on he lawn where we celebrated, enjoyed a last meal together and presented the tips to each member of the team. Some companies do a quick hand over of tips in the carpark with no chance to say thanks and finish on a good note.
A long review but to finish up, Thankyou Eco-Africa and for anyone looking for a great local company, these guys hit the mark on every occasion.

Great crew to visit the safaris!
I am just coming back from an amazing experience in Tanzania. We went in a small group of friends and had lots of fun.
The Eco-Africa Climbing team was friendly, reliable, and very responsive. We went on a couple safaris and were able to see several animals. Strongly recommend to book with them if you are searching for a crew to visit the safaris and/or hike Kilamanjaro.
(They were even able to put up with out bad jokes for several days :) )

Amazing company! Amazing experience!
Climbing Kilimanjaro with Eco-Africa was an amazing experience! I booked as a solo traveler and met my fellow climbers in Moshi. They were amazing and we supported each other the whole way. Our guides Onesmo and Gewa were so supportive and committed to our making the summit.
We laughed together the whole way. Our Kili fighters (porters) were so strong and graciously served us each day to get up to the top. Eco-Africa is a family and one of the best companies for guides, porters, and clients!
Our 4 day Safari added onto the end of our climb was a great way to relax. Joseph was so knowledgeable and able to answer and zoological question in multiple languages. Serengeti, Ngorongoro crater, and Tarangire were amazing. The schedule was well planned and the accommodations were excellent.
