A tour operator with experience, knowledge and understanding of the clients' needs..
After spending six days in Tanzania on safari in Sep 2025, with my family, visiting the Serengeti, Ngongoro crater, lake Maniara and Taringieri national park, I can say that our choice of Africa Big Cats was the right one.
From the moment we were met at the airport, to the hotels and lodges that they recommended to us, which were all well positioned and provided exceptional service.
Our guide throughout the trip, Elias, has over 20yrs experience and it showed in his knowledge of the animals and the way he handled the terrain, with professionality, prudence and respect of the animals that we encountered.
With his expertise we managed close encounters with lions, cheetahs, leopards (and their cubs), elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeast, etc and had rare sighting of three black rhinos, which are still on the endangered list.
I would recommend Africa Big Cats to any person wishing to go on Safari in Tanzania.

A safari beyhond our exspectations
We did an individually planned one week safari with this company. Even the first contact months before the trip was inviting. Questions and remarks were promptly answered. Although the itinerary of our safari was changed several times due to limited availability of rooms in lodges, the safari was great and we were overwhelmed by our experiences. We had many exeptional animal sights. Our guide was very experienced, a careful driver and funny. We had a great time together.

A safari far beyond our expectations!
We started from a 7d/6n program, and after several conversations with Joshua and Naomi, we ended up with a 11d/10n safari.
It gave us the possibility to visit the NP (Tarangire, Manyara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro) in a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere, with plenty of time to observe wildlife at its best! We also managed to reach the northern part of Serengeti (2d) to admire the Great Migration.
The staff of African Big Cats is very responsive to any request.Thanks to their expertise and experience, Joshua and Naomi provided useful information to decide on the program. They also showed a lot of flexibility.
We spent most of the time in tented camps of Tangayika Wildlife Camps, which were excellent. In the northern Serengeti, we stayed in an intimate camp (Zebra, very close to the Mara River), what was also an amazing experience!
Our guide Venance drove is in a very safe and comfortable way through the beautiful landscape. His thorough knowledge and passion for the wildlife made our safari unforgettable (far beyond our expectations)

Incredible experience thanks to the impeccable organization by African Big Cat safaris
I enjoyed a fantastic trip with African Safari to Tanzania in February 2025. Everything went smoothly, the wildlife and cultural experiences exceeded my expectations. The accommodation was great and the tented camp was perfectly situated for maximising the wildlife experiences. My guide/driver, Festo, was with us for the entire trip and I could not have asked for anyone better. He was considerate, knowledgeable, and attentive to our desired outcomes. He somehow always managed to put us in the perfect position to capture the many amazing photographic moments we experienced. Finally the company made sure even the smaller details that make a trip run smoothly were not neglected. They even organised airport tranfers in Nairobi and visit to Sheldrick wildlife trust.

Perfectly organised safari with a great guide
We had an amazing safari experience with African Big Cats Safaris. From the very beginning, the planning phase was super smooth thanks to Emanuel and Naomi. They were extremely responsive, always happy to adjust the itinerary, and worked with us until we were completely satisfied with the proposal. Their attention to detail and willingness to accommodate our requests made the whole preparation effortless.
During the safari, everything was perfectly organized. Our guide, Obedi, was outstanding: knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. He struck the perfect balance between sharing great details about the wildlife and giving us space to enjoy the experience at our own pace. He also drove very carefully throughout the trip. We noticed other drivers on the road being quite reckless, but with Obedi we always felt completely safe, which made a huge difference.
Thanks to him, we were able to spot an incredible variety of animals, often from very close by, and truly appreciate the beauty of each park, from Tarangire to Serengeti (central and northern), Ngorongoro Crater, and Lake Manyara. We even had the privilege to observe the Great Migration and an impressive river crossing. The lodges we stayed in were excellent, and the whole journey ran seamlessly from start to finish.
Overall, this was a fantastic safari, and we would wholeheartedly recommend African Big Cats Safaris to anyone planning a trip to Tanzania.

Amazing safari company and life changing experience
Our honeymoon safari experience with African Big Cats was nothing short of extraordinary. From the very first inquiry, their team was professional, responsive, and genuinely invested in making our trip unforgettable. African Big Cats Safaris delivered a wonderful, safe, and unforgettable adventure.
We chose African Big Cats Safaris based on a link in The Lonely Planet of trusted safari companies. They arrived on our long list and finally on the short list. We picked them because of the interaction, price and the customisation of the trip. We initially drafted our route (Tarangire – Lake Natron – Serengeti – Ngorongoro – Lake Manyara), and the company helped us fine-tune it. The direct booking process was very good: emails were answered swiftly and clearly, and we even had a helpful video call beforehand.
Our driver was truly outstanding: highly experienced, deeply knowledgeable about flora and fauna, and always prioritised safety. He knew his way around the national parks, handled check-ins smoothly, and gave us useful briefings each day. We appreciated his punctuality, the way he coordinated with other guides to locate interesting animals, and even how the car was cleaned daily despite all the dust. We also liked the thoughtful planning of arrival times—always before 4:30 pm—allowing us to relax and enjoy the scenery before sunset.
Overall, we would rate the company as very good, a 4.5. The only reason we cannot give a full “Excellent” rating is due to a last-minute change in accommodation caused by a mistake on their side. While we had approved the lodges in advance, they had to make a change just days before the trip began, and unfortunately the replacement was a slight downgrade.
This safari was truly “Memories for life.” Despite the minor hiccup, African Big Cats Safaris delivered a wonderful, safe, and unforgettable adventure.
