A great guide makes a great safari.
Steven Okumu is an excellent safari guide and provided us with an experience that was outstanding. Steve is knowledgeable about Ugandan history; the animals and habitat; and made us feel safe throughout our 10 day safari. I highly recommend you request Steve as your safari guide when booking your trip to Uganda with Gorilla Safari Consultants (GSC).
Overall the safari was great Lynda was easy to work with to decide on the itinerary and everything worked out fine. My only suggestion is to make sure you have your arrival plans before you leave and set the meeting time and place. Our flight got cancelled, but we were rebooked and this information was not clearly transmitted to GSC during our flights which led to some confusion upon arrival, but it was overcome through WhatsApp. As said, I re rcommend having a set plan upon arrival rather than assuming it will be clear.
Havins some flexibility and sense of adventure should be part of your packing list. Steven was great at keeping us on schedule, but it is inevitable that some unplanned issues will arise. We had a problem with flat tires, but Steve took care of the issues without much delay and GSC sent a mechanic to help get things straight and keep us safe and comfortable.
Overall a great adventure and I can not say enough positive feedback about Steve. He made the trip far beyond what we expected and would be the guide we will use when we return to Uganda. Thanks for a great experience.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We truly appreciate your kind words about the safari itself, our planning process, and the dedication of Steven and our operations team.
We would, however, like to clarify one important point for future travellers. From the very beginning, we offered to arrange airport pick-up for you. You kindly declined this service and confirmed that your hotel in Entebbe—booked independently—would handle your airport transfer. As such, airport arrival logistics were not part of our contracted responsibilities since your first 2 days in Uganda were Self Arranged.
In addtion to this, GSC normally handles Airport Pick Ups and Drop Offs without any extra cost unless the clients prefer otherwise. (This is why Steven,dropped you back to the Airport at the end of the Safari for your departure flight).
When your original flight was cancelled and you were rebooked, this information unfortunately did not reach us. GSC stepped in purely as a courtesy, following up with your hotel to ensure everything went smoothly. We were happy to assist, even though this arrangement fell outside our scope of service.
The situation was quickly resolved through WhatsApp, and we are glad it did not affect the overall success of your journey.
Your advice is valuable: having a clearly defined arrival plan and meeting point is essential, especially when flights change unexpectedly. We always encourage guests to confirm these details in advance—or allow us to handle them entirely—to avoid such confusion.
We are delighted that you enjoyed the safari, that Steven kept everything on track, and that our team responded promptly to challenges such as the fixing of broken stards that were caused by the flat tyres; by sending a mechanic to ensure your safety and comfort.
As you rightly said, flexibility and a spirit of adventure are part of any African safari.

Highly recommended!!!
I had an amazing 7days trip with them.
Before arriving, I could easily communicate with Lynda via whatsapp. She always gave me quick responses, and arranged everything following to our requests. And the price includes pretty much everything except drinks, so it was hassle free during the trip. Wherever we go (NPs and boat cruises etc), my guide did check in and registrations, so we could just enjoy the time there.
The best part of our trip was having Roger as our guide/driver who is well-experienced and knowledgeable about everything in Uganda -especially birds and butterflies. He answered all the questions we had, and taught us a lot of details.
When we went to game drives, he spotted a lot of animals, and always parked our car at a perfect position to observe them.
Also, he was always there to make sure everything goes well, and we’re happy. We always felt safe with him.
We couldn’t have this awesome experiences without him. We’d love to come back again to see different part of Uganda, and when if happens I’ll definitely ask him to travel with us.

Fantastic tour planning and reliable tour operation! The driver/guide is really great!
Communication: fast response and supportive any concerns. Not only tour application, but also she helped our VISA application issues by calling to immigration office in Uganda.
Service: perfect planning based on our requests to see gorilla and chimpanzees on our requested schedule. The operation of the driver is also fantastic. He has good operation skills and driving as well as flexible for our requests.
Reliability: She explained everything clearly and no surprised cost or problems after the contract.
Brilliant Operators
This was an amazing couple of days. After being picked up in Kigali by Scodius early on day 1 we travelled to tbe Volcanoes National Park for a trip in to see the Golden Monkeys. We then traveled to Uganda and day 2 was all about seeing gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
Both days were brilliant and Scodius (driver/ organiser) was just brilliant. I can't wait to get back to experience more and will be using this company again and requesting Scodius.

Premium Service w/ Incredible Experiences from Beginning to End!
Gorilla Safari Consultants provided a world-class experience! Our guide, Steve, was absolutely amazing and I wouldn’t want to tour with anyone else! If you can, ask for Steve!!!
When we landed in Kigali we were informed by the airline that our bags were left behind at the last airport and wouldn’t arrive until 2pm the next day. Steve was scheduled to pick us up at 8:30am and all of our gorilla trekking gear was in our checked luggage! We messaged Lynda at GSC and she happily accommodated a 2:30pm pickup for us. All our worries subsided.
From the moment Steve picked us up we had an incredible experience. We felt very safe and confident with Steve behind the wheel and at our side. He is very knowledgeable about Uganda and Rwanda and share many interesting details about the culture, history, agriculture, and more. He was flexible, accommodating and we truly felt his genuine concern was for us to fully enjoy our experience!
For example, we had an amazing evening Safari at Queen Elizabeth Park but didn’t get to see any lions. Steve exceeded our expectations and took us out again the following morning and we saw 4 beautiful lions!
And the highlight of the trip was the gorilla trekking. To be so close to the gorillas was simply magical, there are no real words to describe the feeling. We felt safe the entire time as we stared in awe at these amazing creatures.
The accommodations were great also. Clean beds, great food and unbelievable views!
Overall we were thoroughly satisfied and would certainly call GSC for our next East African adventure! (And did I mention how awesome Steve was? 😅🤩)
