Phenomenal experience - thanks to Thom!
We went on 6-day safari that was partially tailor-made and included Tarangire, Ngorongoro, Maiara, Central Serengeti, Ndutu, 2 walks with armed rangers as well as cultural interaction with the Maasai. Thom exceeded our expectations by far, was an incredible source of knowledge, highly accommodating to special wishes and changes and very responsive in the communication before and during our journey. Spot on!
Perfect Safari of 6 days with the help of the best guide ever, Thom. All started very well from pick up from the airport to drop off on the last day. We saw much more of what we imagined of! Thom is a wealth of knowledge and knows all the parks inside out. No request too big for him, and never a question unanswered (and I do lots!). A true professional and respectful with the environment and animals (i.e. by staying away when we came across very small cubs to spare the the stress). Totally recommended. Very happy to have supported a family-run local business. Thom also promised me to star learning Spanish (😉) on top of his excellent English. All the best and keep up with the great work!

Amazing experience
For our first time in Africa,my wife and I choose a 3 days safari, and the best pack including Serengeti and Ngorongoro crater was offered by Great escape trails.

We experienced a private 5 day 4x4 Safari park circuit in North TZ, from Arusha including the northern most Serengeti at the Great Migration crossing. We chose Great Escape Trails because they offered a loop that allowed us to see the most parks (Plus Lake Natron & day hike w/ Maasai tribesmen) in such a brief time. They are the only company that offered such an intense but fruitful trip.
The sights and wildlife were phenomenal, mostly because our guide went off piste from the “normal” roads & consistently delivered private viewing of the Big 5 + everything else. We checked every single animal from our personal -must see- list, including the seriously endangered Rhino & endless troops of baboons and mongoose.
We meticulously chose a mid-range trip for a mix of tent camping & boutique hotels… Everything was far better than expected in all ways. Food & Bev. was on point. Lions roared outside our canvas tent at night & a huge heard of elephants splashed in our shower water as they passed just a few meters away.
No frills, just right. We enjoyed the African sunset in style - supporting locals while making new friends & lasting memories!

When I contacted them,Thom was very kind and fast in finding what mostly suited us in terms of programme and budget. Then we met our driver Ninah who took us everywhere in 5 days of safari with patience and courtesy. With him we had the chance of seeing all the Big Five and at least 55 lions, two leopards,two cheetas , three rhinos , lots of buffaloes, elephants and all the rest. He was always on time and drove the car on the best position to see the animals...We raccomand Great Escapes for your best safari in Tanzania .

Epic trip of a lifetime!
We went with Great Escape Trails based on a friend's recommendation and what a wonderful decision that turned out to be!
Thom was very proactive and accommodative with all the pre-travel arrangements from the start, and gave us a fantastic guide Cornel. We were a group of 2 couples flying in from different countries, he made sure to engage all of us and understand our different objectives. First and foremost, his ability and instinct to spot animals is unbelievable. He was able to see animals from a massive distance, much faster and clearer than us even with binoculars! We managed to catch the wildebeasts crossing the Mara River three times, twice of which we were first to the scene before all the other safari vehicles arrived thanks to Cornel's fantastic intuition. As a result, we had really awesome front row seats to what is aptly coined 'the greatest show on earth'. Secondly, he drives really well and made us as comfortable as possible on the bumpy and dusty roads in the bushes. Lastly, his easy going personality and excellent command of English made him a joy to be around for 7 days and he is always sensitive to our needs.
Truly, we cannot thank Cornel enough for making all our dreams come true! Do not be put off by their lower number of reviews, while they are a smaller company they really go the extra mile to earn your trust. Great Escape Trails was a gem find for us and we would strongly endorse them without any hesitation at all. For future visitors, we wish you a fabulous trip. Enjoy!!
