Meijo Safaris at Tanzania, where amazing always happens.
5/5

Hello, I am Zhirui Wang from China. I have a 5-day safari tour with my wife and my parents. Our tour including one-day Lake Manyara, 3-day Serengeti, and 1-day Ngorongoro Crater. We have seen various kinds of animals, like the most popular African Big Five, namely lions, leopard, elephants, Buffalo and Rhino. Other animals also include monkey, baboon, wildebeest, zebra, antelope, dik-dik, etc. The experience of watching animals at Tanzania is rather different than that in a zoo. In the zoo, it’s the animals that lives in the cages. But here in Tanzania, it’s the human beings that are locked in the safari’s cars. We can see different animals eating, chasing, running, resting, and so on. It’s really worthwhile to do the safari in our life.

The safari experience mainly relies on two things, The first one is the luck to see excellent moments and animals. You can't do anything but pray. The second one is the tour guide. Choosing an excellent and experienced guide can make all your safari expenses worthwhile. Our guide is Herman from Meijo Safaris. He has done safari for over 12 years. In our opinions, he has eagle eyes. He can discover the animals from a long distance. How far? It’s the distance I cannot see the animals clearly by using a normal telescope. But he can surprisingly discover them. I exaggerate his insight that other guides can see animals from hundreds of meters away, but Herman can smell the animals from kilometers away. In addition to finding animals, our guide will also explain the living habits of animals to us. This is also a learning tour. In order to help us take satisfactory photos, our guide will try to find the best angles. Also, he had plenty of patience waiting for our photography.
In addition, Herman has good driving skills. The road conditions during safari are complicated. It’s possible to get stuck in the mud on rainy days and easy for the passengers to get carsickness on a bumpy road. In my view, it’s easy for a driver to put his foot on the gas, but difficult to switch between gas and break on complicated roads, and provide a comfortable experience for us.
Obviously, our guide earns money by doing safari. But I don’t think it’s only a job for him. I can feel his love for safari, for the animals and for Meijo Safaris. Our family had a really great safari time. We sincerely thank our guide for providing us such an amazing tour. No doubt, I will strongly recommend our guide, Herman from Meijo Safaris, to everyone.

Speaking of safari tours, I chose the safari agency called Meijo Safaris. As we all know, it’s a difficult task to make decision among hundreds of safari agencies in Tanzania. One reason is that the service provided by most agencies seems like the same at the first sight if we are not familiar with safaris. Another reason is that our choice will directly affect our safari experience which matters most. I have contacted with nearly 30 agencies. After the communication and comparison for over a month, I finally chose Meijo Safaris. I can share my feelings of Meijo as reference.
First, the quick response. Daudi, the manager of Meijo Safaris, always responded to my message in a short time. My questions and concerns can be solved at the first time. That’s a good way to build the trust between company and clients. If you ask only one question that is replied after several days, do you have any patience to continue consulting the safari?
Second, customized services. The emails replied by most companies seems rather standardized and formatted. Some even didn’t answer my questions directly or just ignored. Differently, I could feel that Daudi, the manager, he replied to my email by heart. He customized the safaris itinerary according to my request, including the routes, accommodation, and so on. As for my unreasonable and unsuitable request, he would give a detailed explanation and recommendation. The customized services really won my trust and respect.
Third, Daudi is really a nice person. Not only did he answer all my question about Safari, but also other questions concerning to other parts of our trip, such as where to buy SIM cards, how to do currency exchange, which airlines to choose between Zanzibar Island to Arusha. I really appreciate Daudi’s help and service. If you know what kind of person Daudi is, what his safari tour can offer you, and what kind of company you're entrusting your safari experience to, I’m sure you won't hesitate to book. It’s not just about safari business. It’s also the cultivated trust and friendship.

Finally, I would sincerely express my thanks to Meijo Safaris. Best wishes to the director Daudi, and to our tour guide Herman. It’s really worthwhile to choose Meijo Safaris at Tanzania, where amazing always happens.

5 Day calving Season. Good, with unfortunate communication issues.
4/5

I travelled on a 5 day safari with Meijo Safaris through Tarangire, Ndutu and Serengeti with my wife, mother and mother in law.
We saw a lot of animals, including the big 5 and calving during the great migration. We expeienced an excellent hot air balloon flight over Ndutu which was absolutely a highlight of the journey.
Tanzania is spectacular and the wildlife is quite incredible. There is absolutely no place on earth like the Ngorongoro Crater. The downside to such a place is that it is so busy. You cannot get near an animal without 5-15 other vehicles. This volume of vehicles also make the main roads to the Sertengeti a dust bowl that is very unpleasant to traverse.
The accomodations organised by Daudi and Meijo were wonderful, they were beautiful and comfortable with excellent food.
Daudi was reasonably good to communicate with and I believe that he wants to provide a good service to his customers.
Unfortunately our time with Meijo was negatively impacted by some issues. The itinerary that was proviced to us, did not match up exactly with our experience due to permits at the locations we visited. This was not helped by the lack of clear communication around the reason that we were not following the itinerary.
Our hot air balloon flight was apparently booked the day before, this was booked on a different day entirely to the schedule. This did turn out to be a preferential location to do the flight, but again the lack of communication left us in the dark.
Our driver did not seem at all enthusiastic and was, I believe, the cause for many of the communication issues. We were told a few things by our driver that were not correct or were not as per the schedule and had to contact Daudi to attempt to get the correct information or rectify unapproved cancellations of scheduled activities.

We mostly enjoyed our Safari with Meijo, but I would be hesitant to rebook with them when there are so many options available.

Dear Dean
Thank you so much for the safari experience feedback, we real appreciate it.
Thank you for appreciating the safari you did with us and for all the 6 days you spent with us, also I would like to thank our guide Mr Juma who did his excellence job to make sure you had the best experience safari with us. As a company committed on providing the best service to our clients i would like to clarify some issues which was out of our control during your safari.
You booked the following 6 days safari with us Day
1: Arrival Overnight at Tulia Lodge
Day 2: Tarangire National Park Overnight at Farm of Dreams Day
3: Ngorongoro Crater to Southern Serengeti Overnight at Kenzan Tented Camp
Day 4: Full Gamedrive at Southern Serengeti
Day 5: Southern Serengeti to Central Serengeti Overnight at Matawi Tented Camp
Day 6: Central Serengeti to Arusha Which is about 350 KMs

The Misunderstanding started on day 3, where you wanted to enter the Crater at 6 am (in the morning,) We told you it won't be a good idea since you didn't sleep in the park and we explained to you that, the permits last for 24 hours only means the time you enter in the park is the same time you are supposed to check out on the last day of your safari, if you enter crater that early means the last day of your safari you will have to exit southern serengeti that early as well. You asked us to extend the permit, which was out of our budget, and we informed you it was impossible. On the last day, you had an early morning game drive and freely asked your guide to check out of the park, which he did with an en route game drive.

2. About Balloon experience we booked for you by changing the location due to animals availability as from Dec to March most of the animals are located at Southern Serengeti and that area was the best place for balloon experience, and we discussed that option of southern Serengeti at your hotel during the briefing and we both agreed on that location since central Serengeti was not good for game drive at that moment of the season which led you to tell your guide to check out of the park which you wanted to spend more time before.

Finally, I would like to extend my sincerest apologies for the minor inconvenience that resulted from a misunderstanding between us. As a company, we value all feedback and strive to improve our services and provide more comprehensive information to our clients.

Therefore, I kindly request that you consider organizing another safari with us, as I am certain that this will never occur again as you are already familiar with the permits process, and we have gained valuable insights that will assist us in preparing accurate quotes for our clients.

Wishing you a good life and see you someday in the future.

Safari Greetings

The 4 day tour was amazing. Our tour guide Johnson the monkey had incredible knowledge about the animals and knew all of the best locations to spot them. All of our needs were met straight away and Johnson was very helpful and kind. Great lunches out in the wild. Would highly recommend using this company for your future trips. Thanks to Daudi for organising everything so well.

Amazing safari honeymoon
5/5

We had an amazing experience with Meijo Safaris on our safari in Tanzania. Our driver and guide Michael was knowledgeable, kind, very helpful and friendly. In addition to that he is a very skilled driver!
Daudi was also great, he was very responsive from the beginning and answered many questions we had while planning our trip.
All the accommodations we stayed in were really incredible, and we enjoyed all the food as well. It felt great not having to worry about anything and just enjoying the beautiful scenery and wildlife.
We'd love to come back and do another safari trip with the same team!

Meijo Safari was phenomenal!! They were very good with communication through the entire planning process, and created a safari itinerary that was personalized to us. They took care of all accommodations, transportation, and food. And the food was super GOOD! 😋

We did a five day safari that ended in a day trip hike in Kilimanjaro. Our guide for the safari, Herman was out of this world good! He was able to spot animals that we would’ve driven right past without his skilled vision. His driving was incredible also! There were multiple instances we saw other safari jeeps get stuck in the mud on roads Herman had just gotten us through. He was also extremely patient with us getting just the right picture, stopping to view the animals as long as we wanted to, and he was able to predict what direction the animals would head in so we could get as close as possible. There were multiple times we were able to get right next to animals, without any other jeeps in sight!

The accommodations were also wonderful with Meijo Safaris. The best by far was the Matawi Tented Camp! It was so luxurious and the staff spoiled us! They waited on us hand and foot. Eileen’s Trees Inn was also very nice in a gorgeous serene setting. And the Rhino Lodge was good also, definitely the least luxurious of the Safari stays, but I think we just got super spoiled by staying at the Matawi Tented Camp first lol. 😜

I definitely recommend booking through Meijo Safaris, they made everything so easy and enjoyable!! And be sure to book the hot air balloon ride too, it was such an incredible experience!

Hi all just finished a 8 day safari with Meijo safari tours and it was amazing, we seen all the big five plus all the cats too. Are guid was amazing (Herman) the man could see animals from miles away that I could only see with binoculars was crazy how good he was a spotting, his knowledge and passion for the animals was amazing. We got close to most animals a number of times throughout the trip and was even with a pride of lions on are own for a few hours and watched them catch a wilderbeast. The tours was amazing all accommodations were really nice we enjoyed Ndutu the best as you don’t have to stay on the roads and can really get close to the action there. Would definitely recommend Meijo safaris there the best also all the food was top as well hot meals for lunch everyday and was always a different meal. Thanks for a amazing trip
