Such a great company & guide!
We went on a 14-day safari (Samburu, Ol Pejete, Lake Nakuru, Mara North Conservancy/Masai Mara, Lake Naivasha, and Amboseli), entirely with Beyond the Plains (except in the conservancy, where we were required to use a local guide). This company was a pleasure to work with, and our guide Douglas was a surpassing gem! Andrew was very responsive to emails as we were setting up the trip, answering any questions promptly and fully. He did a great job helping structure a trip for us that was just what we were looking for. Douglas is a superlative guide; he won't tell you this intentionally, but he is one of only 25 Gold-level guides in all Kenya. Exceedingly knowledgeable, friendly, cheerful, accommodating, and a very good driver. We didn't realize how good until we rode with someone else for 90 minutes or so to get to a separate excursion one day--a good driver is essential on safari roads!
We would 100% recommend this company, and hope to safari with them (and Douglas!) again one day.

Unforgettable experience!
We had an amazing experience with Beyond the Plains Safari from start to finish. We did an 7-day safari covering Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru, Lake Naivasha and Amboseli, and every part of the trip was well organised and memorable.
From the very beginning, Julius, who handled our inquiry and helped us plan the safari, was extremely helpful, kind and patient. His communication and willingness to help made the planning process very easy and stress-free.
A huge part of what made our experience so special was our guide, Dankan. He was absolutely incredible and truly went above and beyond throughout the entire safari. He was polite, friendly, patient, always smiling and incredibly helpful, which made us feel comfortable from day one. He also had great knowledge about the wildlife and was always happy to share interesting information about the animals and their behaviour.
Dankan genuinely seemed to care about making the experience as special as possible. He always did his best to take us to the best spots and help us find as many animals as possible. We honestly couldn't have asked for a better guide. We truly hope to meet him again on a future safari!
The jeep was also great, comfortable and well suited for the long drives and game drives, and everything throughout the trip was handled professionally.
We are extremely happy that we chose Beyond the Plains Safari and would definitely recommend them to anyone planning a safari in Kenya!
Thank you Dankan, Julius and the whole Beyond the Plains team! 🦁❤️

Salvaged Our 30th Anniversary & Exceeded Expectations
Our guides John and Peter were amazing. Knowledgeable of Kenya from Nairobi to Masai Mara and parts in between. We were a group of 8, 4 old and 4 younger adults. They took great care of my aging aunt. Catered to the entire groups many needs. They were simply awesome. Beyond the Plains was able to provide us the 30th anniversary trip we planned for years after another company ran into financial issues and left us high an dry 2 months before our trip. From help booking every part our trip including transports, safari, train to Mombasa, they were great. I highly recommend them and our guides John and Peter. Asante sana!

Reliable and gd value for money
We had an awesome 10-day safari in Kenya with Beyond the Plains!
First of all, Sammy was helpful and quick in reply, he answered all our questions related to itinerary and accommodation. We got the whole trip planned and fixed just in 2 weeks time! We were happy with the hotel options and even got free upgrades in Tsavo West and Maasai Mara! We could see elephants and hippos from our room!!
Our experienced driver and guide John is the key of such a joyful and exciting safari experience. He drove safely and skillfully on bumpy roads, always stopping at the perfect locations for us to see clearly animals passing by or walking towards us! He is flexible and patient, allowing us all the time we need for observation and photos. John has sharp eyes and he understands animal behavior so well, he was always able to spot rare moments: we saw all Big 5, leapords hiding and resting, lions mating, zebras fighting, buffalo having mud bath, hippo marking territory, etc… we learnt so much about animals and birds from him.
John is reliable, he prepared everything we need throughout the journey, from keeping the jeep clean, arranging lunch (with wines!) in safari, to designing routes (honour our priorities), securing our spots for hotairballoon… he made our journey so safe, smooth and memorable!
Having returned home for a week, we are already missing the African safari and thinking of going with Beyond the Plains again!

Absolutely brilliant. Can't fault anything
This is our 2nd time, booking a safari with the help of Beyond the Plains.
I can't even put into words how incredible this tour operator is. Such an individual support. Very bespoke package as well.
Linet was our coordinator and she was just fantastic. Listening to our needs and wishes re accommodation and she got it just right. The accommodation on all the different nights was exactly what we wanted.
Linet was very approachable and so easy to communicate with, super fast response. In the previous safari we had a slight issue and she quickly did everything she could to help us sort it out. And she did sort it out!
Price wise, they were also very good. We checked with few providers, they weren't the cheapest but definitely not most expensive as well and very adaptable packages. Definitely good value for money.
Our guides in both Kenya last year and Tanzania this year, were excellent! Experienced and knowledgeable.
You will not regret booking your safari with beyond the Plains.
Enjoy!!

Amazing 3-Day Kenya Safari – Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru & Lake Naivasha
We had an absolutely fantastic 3-day safari visiting Lake Naivasha, Lake Nakuru and the Masai Mara, and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish.
A special mention has to go to our guide, Joe, who really made the trip. He was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and patient, and clearly passionate about Kenya and its wildlife. Joe seemed to have an incredible ability to spot animals from miles away and always knew where to go to give us the best experience.
Each destination offered something different. Lake Naivasha was beautiful and peaceful, Lake Nakuru offered incredible wildlife and stunning scenery, and the Masai Mara was simply spectacular. We saw so much wildlife and had some truly magical moments that we'll remember for a long time.
I also want to give a big shout-out to Beyond The Plains Kenya Safaris. They were fantastic to deal with from the very beginning. Communication was excellent, they were very prompt with their responses, answered all my questions and kept me informed about everything throughout the planning process and during the trip. That made the whole experience feel easy and stress-free.
And of course, Joe went above and beyond throughout the safari, making sure we were comfortable, answering all our questions and adapting the experience to make the most of every opportunity.
The landscapes, wildlife and overall experience were amazing, but the combination of a great safari company and an exceptional guide made it even more special.
Highly recommended! Five stars all around. And if you get Joe as your guide, you're in very good hands! 🦁🐘🦒🦓

A phenomenal safari experience with Beyond the Plains Safaris
We’ve just finished our Kenya safari with Beyond the Plains and the whole experience was exceptional from start to finish.
We felt incredibly well looked after - the team is flexible, gives genuinely helpful advice, and communicates clearly. A special mention to Alex, who made the planning process smooth and stress‑free!
Our guide, Ian, was outstanding. Fun, professional, deeply knowledgeable, and endlessly patient with all our questions. His game‑drive skills are remarkable. Thanks to him, we saw the Big 5, the Ugly 5, countless other animals, and even a caracal in Amboseli, which is absolutely mind‑blowing.
The camps selected for us were all top‑notch and matched to our preferences.
A truly top‑tier safari company with an exceptional guide. Highly recommended.

An amazing and unforgettable holiday
We had an absolutely amazing holiday organised by Beyond the plains safaris. I would definately recommend them.
The organisation of the trip was perfect from dealing with our enquiries before we went to a smooth trip when there. Our guide for the main part of the trip, Dan, was excellent. Very friendly and helpful and a big part of what made the holiday so special.
Our holiday was made up of 2 days in Nairobi before heading out across the Massai Mara, Lake Naivasha, Ambroselli and Salt Lick on safari and finally catching a train to the cost for a few days relaxing.
On safari we saw so many animals it really surpassed our expectations seeing so much and being so close. I think going to the different parks really allowed us to see such varied environments.
I have nothing negative to say about the company or our experiences with them but advice for other travellers would be to be prepared for lots of early mornings and driving between the parks. Also the food whilst fine and as expected did get a little repetitive and if you are a fussy eater may struggle. But again both these things we had expected and so didn't impact in our overall enjoyment. If we had our time again the only thing I would do different would be to have a second night at Salt Lick Lodges just to take time to enjoy such a unique setting. It would also have been nice to see more of Nairobi as it looked such a fascinating city but given the traffic we didn't see much on our city tour.
The beach stay at Pappilion Lagoon Reef hotel was also great. It was a lovely relaxed atmosphere and the perfect way to end the holiday.
