Safari with James, Peter and Ivy could not have gone any better!
I went on a safari with my family with the company Marurumi Safaris. James, the company owner, was so kind and just absolutely amazing. The entire team was great. I loved Ivy the greeter and our driver Peter. I couldn’t have asked for anyone better. They treated us like family. They always got us in the perfect spots to see the most incredible animals. They gave us amazing long days out in the parks, and taught me so much! The safari jeep was awesome, it was clean, comfortable, and so fun. The lodging and the food was insanely good... I felt like royalty, everybody was so happy, helpful, and kind. I truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience and it’s all thanks to James, Peter, and Ivy. I had the best time and will never forget this trip or the amazing people I was lucky to meet along the way!!

James and Peter are the best tour guides: experienced, patient, friendly, and accommodating.
My family and I recently completed an unforgettable 8-day African safari with Marurumi Safaris, and it truly became the best family vacation we have ever had. From the very beginning, we felt listened to and cared for. Communication was clear, prompt, and professional, and the team took the time to understand what mattered most to us. They created an absolutely PERFECT safari experience, with every detail thoughtfully arranged, including transportation, park fees, delicious food, incredible lodging, and, most importantly, experienced guides who made us feel safe, welcomed, and completely immersed in the adventure. All we had to do was show up, relax, and take it all in. Any small issues that came up were handled quickly and with kindness. It was worth every penny! We genuinely had no complaints.
We had the pleasure of having James, the company owner, as our safari guide for the first couple of days. His personality, warmth, and funny stories made those first days so memorable. Peter then took over, and he was so friendly, patient, and accommodating that he truly became part of our family. Because of Peter’s patience and knowledge in animal behavior, we experienced the highlight of the entire trip: being just feet away from two lions actually mating! Both James and Peter had an incredible gift for getting us close to the action, even among a swarm of other safari vehicles, while still making the experience feel personal and unrushed. The things we saw and experienced were extraordinary, and it was obvious how much care, knowledge, and passion they bring to what they do.
I would wholeheartedly recommend Marurumi Safari to anyone dreaming of a meaningful adventure. They gave our family more than a vacation—they gave us memories, stories, and moments we will treasure for the rest of our lives.

James and Ivy at Marurumi Safaris were fantastic hosts for our seven day Sopa Lodge Safari in Kenya.
Marurumi Safaris provided once-in-a-lifetime memories for our group of six travelers on a seven day Safari in Kenya. James and Ivy were very personable and provided wonderful insight on the wildlife, parks and culture of Kenya. We stayed at four Sopa Lodges that provided fantastic services. The lodges were beautiful; morning views of Mount Kilimanjaro from the Amboseli dining room, lakeside patios at every room at Lake Naivasha and stunning mountainside views from Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara lodges. Zebra, giraffe, waterbuck and warthogs on the grounds of Lake Naivasha lodge were a great bonus.
I would highly recommend booking your safari with James at Marurumi Safaris, you won’t regret it.

Enthusiastic tour operator
The communication is very smooth, the cost-effectiveness is very good, and the service is very good. Peter, the hunting guide, is very serious about finding animals and helpful.

Distressing incident
What was supposed to be a once-in-a-lifetime safari turned into a distressing incident involving our tour guide abandoning myself and my elderly mother at a toilet stop 3 hours into our trip and fleeing in the truck with all of our belongings (money, passports, baggage) leaving us with no resources (including my mothers medications).
The company has avoided my calls and emails and have not provided any compensation for what we endured and have given empty promises of a refund for the alternative vehicle for the past 6 months.
We are deeply disappointed in how this was handled by the company and therefore cannot recommend booking with them.

Marurumi Safari delivered
Planning our first safari, we were stunned by the large number of providers and all the different tours to choose from. We ended up choosing a tour were the duration, price and bush camp option fitted us - 4-Day Lake Naivasha, Lake Nakuru/ Masai Mara Mid-Range Migration Tour.
The later mail dialogue gave us a feeling of seriousness.
Our guide and driver, James, was punctual, safety- and very service-minded. He was experienced, knowledgeable and respectful regarding wildlife and all other aspects of Kenya.
He even took us to a coffee plantation in the outskirts of Nairobi on our way back.
Bush camp accomodations, cleaning and food were good and gave us a more authentic feel of a safari.
We were advised to bring warm cloths for the safari. Coming from Norway and being used to cool summers, we thought that was an exaggeration. Fact was that we were glad we brought the warm clothes and raincover. It gets surprisingly cold standing up in an moving open jeep for hours at almost 2000 m altitude.
With our experiences from this safari we have no doubts recommending Marurumi Safari.
