About: Tanzania
Truely "world class" wildlife and scenery but with food poisoning

In late June, we did the beach (Zanzibar) and safari (Serengeiti) tour, about four days for each location. Perfect weather, amount of time, and excellent staff support. Saw everything you can reasonably expect to see, many times upclose. It's expensive but honestly a great value. The only downside I have to mention was repeated food poisoning. For a family of four, we got sick 4-5 times in 11 days and were recovering for about a week after we got home. We took all the vaccinations, pills, sprays, and sanitizers. We had one day, the first day, where no one was in the bathroom (actively being sick), recovering in bed, or carefully going out but always close to a bathroom. We had to delay and cancel plans or do something without someone. Even when we did something amazing (like the dolphin dive or a night game drive), often one person felt "iffy". It diminished the experience. One time, my son got sick eating at the Arusha airport- our fault; the food had been sitting all day. But the other three, possibly four times, were from top-rated, high-end, "Western" restaurants. We never ate street food. In the end, it felt like you could not escape getting sick unless you only ate or drank "factory-sealed" items (even if they said they used bottled water for the ice or coffee.) I tried to stay positive, but it was the worst experience we've had as a family (and we've been to Thailand, Columbia, South Africa twice, across the Pacific, and Greece). If I had to do it again, I'd only stay at an inclusive lodge where they felt ownership for food safety. Sadly, I would not go out to eat, which is a big part of our travels. I'll accept food poisoning once, maybe twice, but every two or three days for four different, relatively experienced people across three locations is a systemic hygiene issue.

We had the most incredible time. Our guide and driver was outstanding and so friendly. Uganda is a beautiful country with so much to explore. Murchison Falls and the Nile are breathtaking! Our safari day was beyond anything we expected. The landscape is gorgeous and we saw hundreds of animals. A true bucket list trip!

Great self drive trip
5/5

The first contact with Anja was very good, she perfectly met our expectations. It was very convenient to have a guide for our trip that Anja gave us upon our arrival, everything was well organized with a map, vouchers for hotels. We just would have liked to have been warned when booking that the nights could be very cold to sleep in a tent, I think if we had known we would not have chosen this option. Our car for our 14 days of travel was in very good condition and comfortable, and the staff friendly, they just arrived 30 minutes late to drop us off at the airport for our departure, but the driver did his best to ensure we were on time. Our stay went very well, the landscapes are incredible, however we do not recommend the hotels inside the Etosha National Park, the quality and service are not there for the price.

So well organised !!
5/5

Booked the 1 day fly-in safari from Zanzibar to Nyerere National Park. Communication & confirmation with Plex Africa via Whats App, prior to the trip, was always quick & clear, & tickets & payment invoices were also sent immediately after payment. For a great price, my booking included return pick up from my hotel in Zanzibar to the airport, flights to Nyerere, lunch & all park fees.

Everything ran like a dream, it was all so well organised. No delays, no waiting around, a perfect smooth day! The flight over to the park in the small plane was magical & it was such an amazing experience landing on a dirt strip & getting straight into our safari jeep. Michael our safari guide was great & very knowledgeable & although we didn't get to see any cats, we had a fantastic day! Nyerere is a really large beautiful park, and you do have to travel some distance, for a chance to see certain animals, however the plus side is that you rarely see other tours/jeeps, so it feels like you have the park to yourselves. Saying that, only 2mins after entering the park we seemed to be surrounded by wart hogs, impala & giraffes. Lunch was tasty & again, so well organised.

My only disappointment was that I hadn't booked a longer trip....maybe next time. In which case, I'd definitely be using Plex Africa Safaris again. Thank you.

Open communication and professionalism which exceeded my expectations.
5/5

Our group of 18 individuals from Louisiana ages ranged from 5 to 80+. As we prepared to visit Uganda (The Pearl of Africa) we knew that we needed tours and accommodations that would meet everyone’s needs. After reading many reviews, and seeking recommendations from family and friends, we felt at peace with selecting Likana Safaris Uganda as our tour company. Likana Safaris Uganda did not disappoint.

I explained to the team leader, Bonny Kagaba, some of the areas that we knew we wanted to visit, and he was able to make recommendations and created a personalized itinerary that went far beyond our expectations. We inquired about having an armed guard and a police escort to help maneuver through traffic. The team lead, Bonny, had it all set for us upon our arrival at Entebbe airport.

My children’s favorite activity was the rhino tracking at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. The guides, Rogers and Nathan, were knowledgeable and safety was a top priority. The top of the falls at Murchison Falls National Park was a 10 out of 10 for me. I am unsure what my expectations were, but this tour of the most powerful waterfall in the world far exceeded it. We did have a member in our group who was physically challenged. When I saw the guides assist him with navigating up the path to see the waterfall, my heart melted. Nathan and Rogers went above and beyond to ensure everyone in their care received the full experience.

We stopped for lunch at Kabalega Diner which included options from vegetable curry to southern fried chicken and everything in between. They even had a kid’s menu.

The boat tour down the Nile River, for me was very nostalgic, as it brought me back to memories of my childhood as I read the biblical story of Moses being placed in this very River. Our guides showed us the best spots to take photos and even took a few for us so that we could obtain group shots together.

Our overnight safari accommodations were at Pakuba Safari Lodge in Murchison Falls National Park. A dinner and breakfast buffet were provided as well as quaint air-conditioned rooms with a mosquito net provided for the beds. Per my request to Bonny, the team lead, during the planning phase, the lodge was able to accommodate us with adjoining rooms with my husband and I in one and our children in the other.

The Game Drive was amazing. Likana Safari Uganda provided us with an open top vehicle which allowed the best views. Since our group was so big, we were in separate vehicles. Nathan, Rogers, and Bonny communicated with one another, to ensure everyone saw all of the animal encounters.

Shopping was completed at Buganda Road Crafts Centre in Kampala and we also visited the National Cultural Center while we are in the area. Accommodations for the rest of our days were at Skyz Hotel Protea Marriott. There we enjoyed top tier spa services, great buffets and live music.

If you are on the fence about which company to use, look no further. Bonny was very easy to work with. He answered all my questions and ensured that my children and the rest of our large group had an amazing experience. Likana Safaris Uganda is a 5 out of 5 for me.
