Once Upon In Time In Tanzania
During the final week of September 2025, my wife and I joined my good friend’s family for the 9-day Migration River Crossing.
From the moment we signed up Safiness, our Hekima contact, was extremely helpful in providing all the information needed to prepare for our first adventure in the African continent. As a result, we felt assured, our excitement and confidence boosted as we waited for September to arrive.
The trip was wonderful and enjoyable: the Airbnb accommodation for Hekima Safari was really great, and we truly enjoyed meeting the people around their home and having drinks with them. It was safe, the guides (Faraki and Amani) were engaging as well as knowledgeable, and be prepared for some bumpy driving across the parks. Hekima put in considerable efforts to make it memorable for all of us. The mandatory briefing session at the end of each day was a great stress-reliever as it provided a dialogue regarding concerns and clarifications.
From the sprawling limestone-green craggy walls of Ngorongoro to the sheer vastness of Serengeti Park and eye-popping Mt. Kilimanjaro, the sights were breathtaking and stay with you forever. The highlight has to be the wildebeest crossings at the Mara River, often described as one of the greatest natural spectacles. For this spectacle, you just have to be there to take it all in with your senses, as no documentary or pictures can quite capture the tension, drama, and scale of the crossings.
However, for me, the Kodak moment was seeing the mighty hippos and pinkish flamingoes chilling in a breezy lake somewhere in the Ngorongoro crater zone. Under the gorgeous sunshine, the images were simply dazzling.
Day 6 was when I carelessly left my tablet on my bed at the lodge, and I wasn’t aware of it until Amani alerted me. Safiness said that they’d try to bring it to me at the airport just before departure and they did. They didn’t have to go all the way for a mistake I made, but they did. It demonstrates the integrity and commitment of Hekima to their clients, and that is deeply appreciated.
If you’re looking for magic in the animal kingdom, it doesn’t get better than this. Well-supported and organized, the trip was filled with “wow” moments as we observed birds and animals (Big 5, blue monkeys, cheetahs, hyenas, spiderman lizard, etc.) in their natural setting: living and playing side by side, resting, limping, TLC with their cubs, having a lonely walk, grazing, being aroused, crossing a dusty road, fighting, being chased, etc. A highly recommended program.

We had a great trip, Peter was always available to help us with anything during our visit.
Our driver/guide David was fantastic. We saw more than we ever expected to see on safari and Peter was always quick to respond when we had questions. The hotels were all great and we can’t thank Pavilion Safaris enough.

An excellent trekking experience!
We really enjoyed climbing Kilimanjaro on the Lemosho route with Lauwo Adventures. Our guides Henry and Abraham were amazing - they were so knowledgeable about the mountain thanks to decades of experience as climbing guides. Henry has summited over 900 times and is very well known and respected on the mountain as evidenced by the many other guides we met during our climb who told us that he had been their teacher many years ago when they were training to become climbing guides themselves. He and Abraham prepared a personalised ascent itinerary for our group focused on safety and proper acclimatisation (including daily health checks and measurements of our oxygen levels) which ultimately guaranteed a successful summit day (one day ahead of schedule).
Our team of porters and cooks was likewise top notch - we were so well taken care of! Every day of the climb came with delicious multi-course meals, a seemingly endless supply of tea, coffee and hot chocolate, and many other amenities that ensured our group was as comfortable and happy as possible. The porters were also very friendly and we appreciated the opportunity to chat with them and get to know them better during our climb. It made the experience so much more enjoyable and fun.
We are grateful to Henry, Abraham and the entire team at Lauwo Adventures for an excellent Kilimanjaro experience and highly recommend climbing with them!

Pavillion Safaris provided a wonderful safari that was well organized and exceeded my expectations.
Peter was very responsive to any questions I had, responding quickly and providing information I requested. I thought the price charged was very fair and the lodging and meals were satisfactory. The guides I had (Derrick and Dennis) made sure we saw as much wildlife as possible and gave us plenty of time to view and take pictures of the animals. I will treasure the great memories of this trip for the rest of my life!

Excellent Tour and well organized
Communications with Esther Mbuva from Toto Tembo were clear all the time. We paid using credit card and the comission is expensive, but it is safe to do it through Toto Tembo. Our driver and guide in Amboseli was always very kind. The Serena lodge in Amboseli is fine but looks old and needs a renovation.

Communication from the start was very prompt, informative and clear. The driver and guide were the best. Their choice of hotels was the best, and the service was also excellent. The game drive was an incredible experience that we will never forget. It was truly incredible.

Our Dream Honeymoon with Oldbeast Vacations
Our honeymoon with Oldbeast Vacations was nothing short of magical an experience we’ll cherish forever. From the very first message, Mwanne made everything feel effortless with thoughtful and personalized planning. Every little detail was perfectly taken care of, allowing us to simply relax and enjoy the adventure of a lifetime.
When we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Mwanne, whose kindness instantly made us feel at home. The briefing about the days ahead was both helpful and reassuring it was clear from that moment that we were in the best hands.
And then came Frank, our incredible guide. Words can hardly describe how amazing he was so knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely passionate about wildlife. He always knew exactly where to take us for the best views, and thanks to him, we saw the Big Five, countless other animals, and even witnessed the Great Migration at the Mara River a scene so powerful it brought tears to our eyes. If you’re planning a safari, ask for Frank. He truly made our honeymoon unforgettable.
Every lodge we stayed in was beautiful and welcoming, each with its own charm and breathtaking surroundings. The food was delicious everywhere we went, and every meal felt like part of the adventure. One of the most touching moments was our visit to a Maasai village, where we were honored to learn about their rich traditions and warm way of life.
This journey exceeded every dream we had. It wasn’t just a safari it was an experience that touched our hearts. We would wholeheartedly recommend Oldbeast Vacations to anyone searching for a truly unforgettable, soul-stirring adventure in Tanzania.
