Fantastic company for Kilimanjaro trek
e chose African Big Cats Safaris and Treks for our 8-day climb of Mount Kilimanjaro via the Lemosho Route, and we could not have asked for a better experience.
The company was founded more than 10 years ago by Emmanuel, who started as a porter and later became a guide. His experience is clearly reflected in the way the entire trek is organized and managed.
From the very beginning, everything was handled professionally and smoothly. Salim managed the reservation process, Naomi coordinated the detailed logistics and planning, and once we started the trek, we were in the excellent hands of our guides, Imran and Iddi. Imran has climbed Kilimanjaro more than 200 times, while Iddi has done it more than 50 times — and their experience was invaluable.
We are both 60 years old and successfully reached the summit without suffering, thanks in large part to the careful pace, encouragement and support of our guides. Imran quickly understood that we were physically fit enough to summit, but that I needed some extra mental support along the way. His positive and reassuring approach made a tremendous difference and completely removed any anxiety I had about reaching the top.
The whole team deserves recognition. Teushi, our cook, prepared three delicious, hot meals every day, as well as excellent snacks. He is a professional cook and also an educator at a college in Arusha, and his meals were a real highlight after each day of hiking. Samsun was our caring “waiter,” attended to any of our requests and making sure we had warm bottles for our sleeping bags every night. We also had 10 porters, including Marcosios, who was responsible for our private toilet.
A private toilet is definitely something we recommend. The public toilets along the trek are, to put it mildly, not particularly appealing! The good news is that the private toilet was automatically included in our reservation, so we didn’t have to arrange anything separately.
We also needed warm mountain clothing, as Kilimanjaro can be extremely cold, even in September. Imran provided everything we needed, again making the experience completely hassle-free.
Beyond the personal achievement of reaching the summit, these eight days gave us a much deeper understanding of the Arusha community and how dependent many local families are on tourism. Choosing a reliable, experienced and genuinely local tour operator makes a real difference — not only to the quality of the trek, but also to the livelihoods of the many people and families involved.

Welcoming and great tour organisation
The tour was very well organised, from beginning till the end. Our guides Nuhu and Fredy were the best, they showed us so many animals and gave lots of explanation on the nature and the park.

Experience of a lifetime
Patrick always answered my emails promptly and organized everything perfectly. We did the 6 day Maasai Mara, Lake Nakuru, Amboseli safari and thought it was great value for money, and a bonus that we were supporting a local Kenyan company. Our driver and guide Eric was always ready to answer our questions about the animals and other questions about Kenya, and we had nice discussions during the drives. Of course the highlight of the trip was seeing all the different animals, and Eric was also great in helping us locate them all. Highly recommend for other people looking to do an African safari.

Amazing Safari with Telly

Kenya Unfiltered: Big Five, Incredible People & an Epic Guide
My Kenya safari with Jocky Tours from 13–19 September 2026 was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I couldn’t have asked for a better guide than Francis, aka Faru!
I joined this as a solo traveler on a group trip, and from the very beginning, the entire experience was incredibly well planned. The accommodation, food, transportation, and overall organization were all excellent, especially considering this was a budget safari. Everything was well coordinated, which made the trip comfortable and completely stress-free.
On Day 1, Faru told us that he was going to make this trip historic and he absolutely delivered on that promise! His experience, knowledge, and passion for the Kenyan wilderness were evident throughout the entire safari. He seemed to know exactly where to go and when to go, and his connections and experience in the Masai Mara made a huge difference to our sightings.
One of the biggest highlights was how close Faru managed to get us to the animals. He consistently went the extra mile to give us incredible up-close views and photo opportunities, while also making sure we maintained respect for the animals and did not disturb them. It was amazing to watch him read the animals and their surroundings so naturally. You could genuinely tell that the reserves are his backyard.
We were incredibly lucky to have some fantastic sightings of the Big Five, and a huge part of that was down to Faru’s experience, local knowledge, and contacts in the Mara. Whether it was finding wildlife, positioning the vehicle perfectly, or knowing where to be at the right time, he made the safari feel truly special.
Beyond the safari itself, Faru made me feel very comfortable throughout the entire trip. As a solo traveler joining a group of people from different parts of the world, I initially wasn’t sure what to expect, but he was friendly, approachable, professional, and always made sure everyone was having a great time. Travelling and sharing this experience with people from around the world made it even more memorable.
Kenya itself was absolutely breathtaking, but having the right guide made all the difference. Faru didn’t just take us on a safari he created an experience that I’ll remember for the rest of my life.
A huge thank you to Jocky Tours and especially to Faru for an unforgettable 7 days in Kenya. From the planning and accommodation to the food, wildlife, and incredible group experience, everything came together perfectly.
