Wandering Thru makes it easy to plan an Amazing African Adventure!
I am usually an independent solo traveler, but the sheer number of choices – of locations and lodging – for an African safari was overwhelming even for me. For my first trip to Africa, I decided to take advantage of some local knowledge and expert guides to help me choose and plan the adventure. After a simple email message, the team at Wandering Thru put together a few options from which to choose and, after I chose the itinerary, they made all the arrangements, taking care of logistics in South Africa and Botswana. All I had to do is book my international and regional flights, let Wandering Thru know my arrival/departure times, and look forward to the experience. The journey was so amazing – relaxing yet exciting – that my first thought upon my return home was “I’m ready to go again.”
For part of my trip, I joined a preplanned privately guided safari with Tristan Dicks. The idea of a trip with Tristan or one of the other Wandering Thru private guides is what really convinced me to finally fulfill this bucket list experience. Check out Safari Live episodes from 2018 and 2019 on YouTube for examples of their guiding expertise. The time spent in the Sabi Sand Reserve was special not just for the intimacy of the wildlife sightings but also the time spent with a small group of wonderful safari goers and guides.
Since the long journey to Africa would hardly have been worth it for just a few days, I decided to add on a couple of other locations in Botswana – near Chobe National Park and the Okavango Delta. Even though these were not part of a planned Wandering Thru trip, the team at Wandering Thru made all the arrangements, from picking the lodges, suggesting the amount of time to spend at each, and coordinating all the logistics. The lodges, landscapes and wildlife sightings were all amazing.
I will definitely use Wandering Thru again for my next trip to Africa.

Best Safari Vacation ever
The Safari tour was very well organized and planned from the start which was pick up from Nairobi to finish which was drop off at westlands . We were fortunate to witness some wildlife migration across the Mara river. For us that was the highlight of the safari, seeing hundreds of wildebeests and zebras dangerously crossing the crocodile infested waters. The tour was very exciting because we had boat safari and several morning and afternoon game drives throughout the days.
Ben was our tour driver and guide, he was very professional and had a unique interest and respect for nature and wildlife. He was very friendly, punctual patient and told us amazing things about the culture and game. We had great spots for taking photos and the accommodation was also very nice and located close to the wildlife. Everything was fantastic, both food and service.
The trip was amazing and exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed the Landcruiser drives and I would honestly recommend this company to anyone who wishes to have a Kenyan safari experience.

Discovering Ethiopia as country of origin
My adoptive son (17) and I visited Ethiopia, his birthplace, in October 2022. We didn’t want to be part of a group-tour to get in touch with Ethiopia, the aim was more being on our own – only with guide and driver. Although SimienEcoTours do offer group-tours, the people at SET comprehend our special father-son-situation and therefore expectations for this trip and they offered us a perfect all-inclusive program for a reasonable price. The schedule Addis – Flight to Bahir Dar – Gondar – excursion to Simien Mountains N.P. – Gondar – Lalibela – Flight to Addis was absolutely adequate for a first visit and worked out fine. (Due to the situation in Tigray at that time, Axum wasn’t part of the program.) Judging by the plenty of our impressions of landscape, wildlife and encountering people in Ethiopia we both were totally happy with the program as well with the organization and performance by the SET-staff: Good choice and quality of hotels/lodges, good suggestion of restaurants and lunch-spots. Also to be mentioned: the wide knowledge of our tour-guide about the country and its people and culture. The jeep-ride (Toyota) was comfortable and always safe.

Unprofessional
We also had a very bad experience with this tour operator, and are now fighting with the Tanzanian Police to get our money back.
We booked a 3 day safari for our honeymoon for beginning of October, and already had to pay the full amount in June. In September when it came to arranging the pick up, Capture Tanzania started not to answer and not picking up the phone any more, and if someone answered then we just received vague answers from one of the owners and that they will "check". We sent a lot of long e-mails and called them many many times, with no response. We also had to find out ourselves, that no bookings were done for us (neither accommodation nor flights). The two alarming reviews on SafariBookings.com from September unfortunately came too late for us as warning.
The Tourism Police Unit in Arusha has said they are working to track down Capture Tanzania. In our opinion we have been scammed by Capture Tanzania.
Our clear advice, don't pay them any money. Good luck.
