An American primatologist and conservationist who conducted an extensive study of mountain gorilla groups from 1966 until her death in 1985. Her work in studying and protecting mountain gorillas in Rwanda laid the foundation for gorilla tracking. Her focus, courage, and passion have inspired generations of conservationists who continue her legacy today.
