Ngorongoro Crater concentrates an extraordinary range of wildlife within the walls of a single caldera: lion, black rhino, hippo and wildebeest are all resident. Tarangire, known for the density of its elephant herds, offers something different – open savannah, baobab trees, and a quieter atmosphere than the more visited northern parks. For the time available, little else in Tanzania covers as much ground.
